After living with the average master bathroom designed by the development company of their condo, my clients decided they had had enough. Longing for something sleeker, more modern, and with some style and flair, they hired me to create a space that would feel welcoming but unique. At their request, we removed a rarely-used bath tub and replaced it, and the adjacent small standing shower, with a much more spacious wet area. Both a vanity scaled for the room and its undermount sinks make the counter area seem roomier as well. New LED light fixtures, and mirrors outlined in oil-rubbed bronze to coordinate with the faucets, shower hardware, and vanity handles and towel bars bring a crisp, clean-lined sense. A deep, moody color on the walls and a fascinating, mineral-like wallpaper in the water closet serve to make this new master bath feel like a suite in a dramatic, contemporary hotel in New York or London. To achieve an open kitchen, dining-living room and entertaining space, this small Upper East Side apartment required a gut renovation. We had to get very creative to answer the design dilemmas in this open kitchen, even working to an 1/8 of inch, dealing with a structural column and moving the sink. Removing or reducing barriers helped add light and create a better flow between the spaces. To tie in the upgraded lighting fixtures we created a soffit allowing us to run the pendants below a beam. Featuring an open eat-in counter, beautiful finishes, and enviable stainless steel appliances, we created a beautiful, yet highly functional contemporary apartment that gives our client the lifestyle of she wanted - to be able to entertain both glamorously and comfortably!

The dining room showcases a handcrafted salvaged wood trestle table which was created out of reclaimed pine timbers from 100-year-old buildings in Europe. The table is surrounded by elegant vintage french round upholstered side chairs, and at the head and foot of the table are Belfort wingback chairs in a textured linen weave. Hanging above and providing a delightful glow is an Arturo 8-light rectangular chandelier with a rustic wood frame and riveted metal strapping. Create Hollywood glamour like this light bedroom with wood walls. The white Harlowe Bed by Mitchell Gold + Bob Williams is flanked by MGBW's Farrah 3 Drawer Chest in bone lacquer and birdseye maple (and red lacquer drawer interiors). The bed is draped in a DwellStudio Rhineland Duvet, which brings Bavarian castle charm to the modern world. This pattern was hand drawn in our studio based on images from classic European fairytales and features lions and antelopes leaping among sweeping botanicals. The glass Clark Table Lamp has a clear acrylic base and a hand-painted silver lampshade. Hand-inlaid with crystal stone (and a dazzling brass finish underneath), the Harlow Console is a signature piece of furniture.
