The landscape for this Amangassett retreat includes a courtyard and pool area. In the courtyard garden, a central axis provides structure to the design while old large evergreens provide height and a sense of enclosure. A rose pergola and vine-covered arbor lead to garden spaces beyond. An existing pool was recreated into a more organic shape, lined with large stones and boulders. Small evergreens complement older established ones, creating a secluded enclave. The patio was paved with warm-hued stone and edged by planting beds. Here the plantings take on a tropical feeling. A rustic pavilion provides a cozy place to sit and observe the light dancing off the water and to listen to the sound of birds and wind in the trees. On the south side of the property, the landscape architect planted a group of large broadleaf and needled evergreens to provide privacy and year-round interest. Design Services Provided - Architect was asked to convert this 1950's Split Level Style home into a Traditional Style home with a 2-story height grand entry foyer. The new design includes modern amenities such as a large 'Open Plan' kitchen, a family room, a home office, an oversized garage, spacious bedrooms with large closets, a second floor laundry room and a private master bedroom suite for the owners that includes two walk-in closets and a grand master bathroom with a vaulted ceiling. The Architect presented the new design using Professional 3D Design Software. This approach allowed the Owners to clearly understand the proposed design and secondly, it was beneficial to the Contractors who prepared Preliminary Cost Estimates. The construction duration was nine months and the project was completed in September 2015. The client is thrilled with the end results! We established a wonderful working relationship and a lifetime friendship. I am truly thankful for this opportunity to design this home and work with this client!

When full-time Massachusetts residents contemplate building a second home in Telluride, Colorado the question immediately arises; does it make most sense to hire a regionally based Rocky Mountain architect or a sea level architect conveniently located for all of the rigorous collaboration required for successful bespoke home design. Determined to prove the latter true, Siemasko + Verbridge accompanied the potential client as they scoured the undulating Telluride landscape in search of the perfect house site. The selected site’s harmonious balance of untouched meadow rising up to meet the edge of an aspen grove and the opposing 180 degree view of Wilson’s Range spoke to everyone. A plateau just beyond a fork in the meadow provided a natural flatland, requiring little excavation and yet the right amount of upland slope to capture the views. The intrinsic character of the site was only enriched by an elk trail and snake-rail fence. Establishing the expanse of Wilson’s range would be best served by rejecting the notion of selected views, the central sweeping curve of the roof inverts a small saddle in the range with which it is perfectly aligned. The soaring wave of custom windows and the open floor plan make the relatively modest house feel sizable despite its footprint of just under 2,000 square feet. Officially a two bedroom home, the bunk room and loft allow the home to comfortably sleep ten, encouraging large gatherings of family and friends. The home is completely off the grid in response to the unique and fragile qualities of the landscape. Great care was taken to respect the regions vernacular through the use of mostly native materials and a palette derived from the terrain found at 9,820 feet above sea level. Bamboo floor with hand scraped finish and multi colored stain - We created this transitional style kitchen for a client who loves color and texture. When she came to ‘g’ she had already chosen to use the large stone wall behind her stove and selected her appliances, which were all high end and therefore guided us in the direction of creating a real cooks kitchen. The two tiered island plays a major roll in the design since the client also had the Charisma Blue Vetrazzo already selected. This tops the top tier of the island and helped us to establish a color palette throughout. Other important features include the appliance garage and the pantry, as well as bar area. This new floating light fixture, combined with the pairing of grey and turquoise velvet chairs, provides a level of modern flare that this client loves. A new oversized rug establishes a dedicated space in this oversized room, while by adding a simple ledge with a few selected items and a natural wood clock, this area now becomes complete.

Two adjacent walls, with an original rigid awning, was one of the first visible fixtures of Scribe Winery in Sonoma, California. A result of prohibition era design and dated. Upon a business renovation, Infinity Canopy provided the perfect transformation from a tired awning system to a patio space that could breathe. Now Scribe Winery's establishment has a face which looks as vibrant as the wines they produce. Owners and brothers, Andrew and Adam Mariani, believe the best products come from a harmonious relationship between man and nature. We not only concur, but are happy to assist with this outlook on life, by placing a versatile canopy at the forefront of their establishment. The terrace is now the perfect spot to soak in some drinks, but not the Sun.

Integrated into an established Newport landscape, this IPE TV lift cabinet provides outdoor entertainment without permanently placing a television in view. The retractable TV can disappear inside the wood cabinet when entertaining is over.

Our client was drawn to the property in Wesley Heights as it was in an established neighborhood of stately homes, on a quiet street with views of park. They wanted a traditional home for their young family with great entertaining spaces that took full advantage of the site. The site was the challenge. The natural grade of the site was far from traditional. The natural grade at the rear of the property was about thirty feet above the street level. Large mature trees provided shade and needed to be preserved. The solution was sectional. The first floor level was elevated from the street by 12 feet, with French doors facing the park. We created a courtyard at the first floor level that provide an outdoor entertaining space, with French doors that open the home to the courtyard.. By elevating the first floor level, we were able to allow on-grade parking and a private direct entrance to the lower level pub "Mulligans". An arched passage affords access to the courtyard from a shared driveway with the neighboring homes, while the stone fountain provides a focus. A sweeping stone stair anchors one of the existing mature trees that was preserved and leads to the elevated rear garden. The second floor master suite opens to a sitting porch at the level of the upper garden, providing the third level of outdoor space that can be used for the children to play. The home's traditional language is in context with its neighbors, while the design allows each of the three primary levels of the home to relate directly to the outside. Dunlevy was asked to design and install a water feature that made a big statement, as well as a new front walkway. The new fountain adds to the existing beauty of this landscape, and provides a strong focal point among the many plantings on this established property. The homeowner is thrilled with this addition, and we continue to provide the maintenance and enhancements that will allow for this landscape to evolve and grow over the years.

The original English conservatories were designed and built in cooler European climates to provide a safe environment for tropical plants and to hold flower displays. By the end of the nineteenth century, Europeans were also using conservatories for social and living spaces. Following in this rich tradition, the New England conservatory is designed and engineered to provide a comfortable, year-round addition to the house, sometimes functioning as a space completely open to the main living area. Nestled in the heart of Martha’s Vineyard, the magnificent conservatory featured here blends perfectly into the owner’s country style colonial estate. The roof system has been constructed with solid mahogany and features a soft color-painted interior and a beautiful copper clad exterior. The exterior architectural eave line is carried seamlessly from the existing house and around the conservatory. The glass dormer roof establishes beautiful contrast with the main lean-to glass roof. Our construction allows for extraordinary light levels within the space, and the view of the pool and surrounding landscape from the Marvin French doors provides quite the scene. The interior is a rustic finish with brick walls and a stone patio floor. These elements combine to create a space which truly provides its owners with a year-round opportunity to enjoy New England’s scenic outdoors from the comfort of a traditional conservatory.

Wrought fencing, a hallmark of Spanish Colonial design, would provide little privacy from the street. Now established trees are joined by California Lilac and Coffeeberry Ito give the meadow a secret garden feel.

A shared therapy and Zoom space for the couple, the office retained its original built-in cabinetry, now painted in a silver-blue tone to harmonize with the home’s lightened palette. Recessed lighting and pale finishes help counteract the home’s former darkness, establishing a fresh and functional workspace.

A unique walk out from a newly built house renovation allows for light to enter adjacent basement windows, while providing large planters for ornamental grass to frame the entry way. Only the second project to be built in Toronto using Kebony heat-treated yellow pine, this deck/staircase provides numerous opportunities to perch with a morning coffee or during a busy party. This deck will be allowed to silver with age, as will the building's siding. The remainder of the property looks to separate spaces along the lines established by the new extension.
