A large Franke fireclay sink sits centered at the window and is flanked by two paneled Asko dishwashers. Groehe fixtures include a pot filler at the 48" dual fuel Wolf range. Island cabinetry with seating for six and loads of drawer storage is in Cadet Gray, a subtle contrast to the Anitque White finish of the perimeter cabinets. Counter top is Zodiaq London Sky with 3x12 ceramic gray tile back splash. Island and spice pull outs feature large furniture legs which complement the hand carved corbels at the wood hood. Up lighting at the crown molding and under cabinet lighting further enhance the beauty of this kitchen.

This farmhouse inspired kitchen features a contrasting furniture like piece island. The perimeter cabinets are a flat panel door style with inside and outside rail detailing finished in a Warm White paint with a Warm Stone glaze. The island has a different flat panel door style with beaded detailing and is finished in our specialty Chaptick distress finish with a Green Burlap paint over a Venetian Oak stain all with Van Dyke glaze and distressing. The kitchen also includes accessories like a trash pull-out and hidden spice pull-outs.

Selecting an Elkay right-drain sink offered more useable space in the cabinet below. The drain and garbage disposal are on the right. Two full size trash compartments slide in on the left. The paper towel hangs from the door on the right, with enough height for dishwasher detergent and cleaners on the bottom of the pullout

Top 3 design wishes:
1. Large island – We wanted a 9ft island and we achieved that. We wanted the dishwasher, microwave, sink and garbage drawer to be in the island
2. Nice Appliances – One of the things we really wanted was a large refrigerator/Freezer but didn’t know if it would be overbearing and if it would fit with the other things we wanted in the kitchen. We were able to fit the Electrolux Icon 64” wide refrig/freezer units and we couldn’t be happier. It is definitely something everyone notices right away. In addition, we went with Bosch appliances for everything else. (Range Hood, Drawer Microwave, 36” Induction Cooktop, Dishwasher and Oven)
3. No gap between the cabinets and the ceiling. On the other hand our ceilings were just over 9ft so we were able to use the standard cabinets with the 15” cabinets on top with deco strip. We definitely got the super-high IKEA Bobdyn kitchen we were looking to get.

You can put just about anything in a cabinet in your island now - including this custom knife block and utensil holder. This helps keep your countertops clear.

The white counters and white cabinets allow for the gray backsplash tile to pop and give this contemporary space some character. The tile is Waveline Glass tile from Island Tile.

These homeowners relocated to Indianapolis and wanted a traditional home in the Meridian Hills area that offered family living space off the kitchen. “It’s what we were used to, but we had trouble finding exactly what we were looking for.” They spent a lot of time thinking about the possibilities of a remodel. They had space both within and outside the house that were under-utilized and decided to embark on a significant renovation project.
We endeavored to completely rework the current floor plan in hopes of addressing all their needs and wants. Plans included relocating the kitchen, moving the exterior walls by a couple of feet, raising the ceiling, and moving the office. The results of these changes were dramatic. Additionally the family now enjoys a larger and updated entrance with storage and closets that is perfect for their two active daughters and two often muddy labs, a beautiful kitchen with improved functionality that is filled with tons of natural light, as well as a cozy hearth room, ideal for relaxing together as a family. The once neglected screened porch is now a unique and inviting office with workspace for everyone.
Once these improvements were made the view to the back of the house was now apparent, the couple decided to enhance their outdoor living space as well. We added a new patio, a custom pergola, water feature and a fire pit. “Now it’s a private spot to relax and connect with the outdoors. It really highlights the style of the house and we love it,” says the homeowner.
