Entertaining and relaxing in style
After helping our client on various projects throughout their home, they wanted to reconfigure their living room to serve as an area for family time and entertaining. By creating a space within a space we allowed function to meet fun! A space for their family to gather for movies and Sunday games to entertaining with ease for special occasions. Their newly designed living room includes a full working bar with a beer tap and refrigerated draws. The bar area was built in to a bay window leaving the transom windows to allow additional light from the outside in. Other unique and favorite features are the custom made curved cabinets, the LED lit Iridescent glass minbrick mosaic tile behind the TV and glass shelves, the 2 ½ inch thick Danby Montclair Marble and a mirror that turns into a TV.

Inspiration for a large timeless master travertine floor bathroom remodel in San Diego with a two-piece toilet, raised-panel cabinets, dark wood cabinets, beige walls and an undermount sink

The custom paneled integrated refrigerator and freezer columns were separated by a single oven and a steam oven a with warming drawer below which were placed side by side for convenience and visual balance. Under each of these appliances, the top drawer provides a Dekton pull-out tiled bread board for a hot and cold landing area. A kitchen this large leaves plenty of room for a large island limited only by the size of the slab. The large island holds the induction cooktop, down-draft, and microwave drawer. Within the base cabinets facing the huge windows to the rear of the home, the 5 foot single bowl Galley workstation was specified with its 9 piece culinary kit. It was complemented with two touchless pull-down faucets for their two person kitchen. Inserts for the base cabinets include a double tiered cutlery divider, waste baskets, pull out trays, posts to hold plates, knife and tray divider, bin utensil storage and spice pull-outs. The kitchen transformed from a small space to a two person kitchen with an open transitional style with warm walnut veneer slab cabinets contrasted with white-painted shaker style cabinets and finished off with a piece of slab artful quartz. The dimmable pendants and recessed lights add various moods for entertaining.

Our clients were living in a Northwood Hills home in Dallas that was built in 1968. Some updates had been done but none really to the main living areas in the front of the house. They love to entertain and do so frequently but the layout of their house wasn’t very functional. There was a galley kitchen, which was mostly shut off to the rest of the home. They were not using the formal living and dining room in front of your house, so they wanted to see how this space could be better utilized. They wanted to create a more open and updated kitchen space that fits their lifestyle. One idea was to turn part of this space into an office, utilizing the bay window with the view out of the front of the house. Storage was also a necessity, as they entertain often and need space for storing those items they use for entertaining. They would also like to incorporate a wet bar somewhere!
We demoed the brick and paneling from all of the existing walls and put up drywall. The openings on either side of the fireplace and through the entryway were widened and the kitchen was completely opened up. The fireplace surround is changed to a modern Emser Esplanade Trail tile, versus the chunky rock it was previously. The ceiling was raised and leveled out and the beams were removed throughout the entire area. Beautiful Olympus quartzite countertops were installed throughout the kitchen and butler’s pantry with white Chandler cabinets and Grace 4”x12” Bianco tile backsplash. A large two level island with bar seating for guests was built to create a little separation between the kitchen and dining room. Contrasting black Chandler cabinets were used for the island, as well as for the bar area, all with the same 6” Emtek Alexander pulls. A Blanco low divide metallic gray kitchen sink was placed in the center of the island with a Kohler Bellera kitchen faucet in vibrant stainless. To finish off the look three Iconic Classic Globe Small Pendants in Antiqued Nickel pendant lights were hung above the island. Black Supreme granite countertops with a cool leathered finish were installed in the wet bar, The backsplash is Choice Fawn gloss 4x12” tile, which created a little different look than in the kitchen. A hammered copper Hayden square sink was installed in the bar, giving it that cool bar feel with the black Chandler cabinets. Off the kitchen was a laundry room and powder bath that were also updated. They wanted to have a little fun with these spaces, so the clients chose a geometric black and white Bella Mori 9x9” porcelain tile. Coordinating black and white polka dot wallpaper was installed in the laundry room and a fun floral black and white wallpaper in the powder bath. A dark bronze Metal Mirror with a shelf was installed above the porcelain pedestal sink with simple floating black shelves for storage.
Their butlers pantry, the added storage space, and the overall functionality has made entertaining so much easier and keeps unwanted things out of sight, whether the guests are sitting at the island or at the wet bar! The clients absolutely love their new space and the way in which has transformed their lives and really love entertaining even more now!

A cozy, cottage kitchen featuring gray semi-custom cabinetry, satin brass hardware and faucet, matte white Moroccan tile, white oak floating shelves, and a custom patina steel faceted hood. It wouldn't be an RD kitchen without a custom island, for this small space we had to get creative with the island configuration. Hot-rolled steel legs hold up the seating end of the island and a microwave drawer faces the range on the backside.

This oval-shaped pool is a unique design and sunken, so you have to go down two steps before you get to the water level. Four raised pot pilasters with matching pots surround the pool and add an elegant style. The tiered flat black tile spillway goes from the spa into the pool and is a beautiful contrast to the light-colored pre-cast coping that surrounds the pool and spa. The pool sits right off the backside of house with the artificial turf coming out at 45 degree angles and there are entertainment areas on both sides of the pool. There is an outdoor bathtub off a guestroom in a patio area with side walls, but an open lattice top to view the stars while bathing.

They have twin boys that love basketball, so after their research, they bought a Pro Dunk Gold Basketball and installed it on a 30x45 area. The grade was challenging so they installed a retaining wall on one side. Also the backside of the court has a 90 degree drop off so they installed a 10 ft high black chain link fence to keep from chasing basketballs. They entertain a lot and it has become the favorite sport when company comes up. It is their best goal ever purchased! This is a Pro Dunk Gold Basketball System that was purchased in December of 2012. It was installed on a 45 ft wide by a 45 ft deep playing area in Cedar Bluff, VA. This bedroom and full bathroom are part of an adventuresome project my wife and I embarked upon to create a complete apartment in the basement of our townhouse. We designed a floor plan that creatively and efficiently used all of the 385-square-foot-space, without sacrificing beauty, comfort or function – and all without breaking the bank! To maximize our budget, we did the work ourselves and added everything from thrift store finds to DIY wall art to bring it all together.
The bedroom opens onto a stone patio surrounded by built-in seating and raised-bed planters (see pictures of the backyard on my main Houzz page).

The 5’x5’ shower was stripped to the studs which allowed for all the new plumbing components including body sprays, 2 shower heads, and a rain head all enclosed (including the ceiling) in a gorgeous 12”x24” Quest matte tile that replicates a marble look. To make the 36” wide soap niche completely unique, an Arabesque Beveled Mosaic in a grey color lines the backside of it.

Eat-in kitchen - mid-sized traditional l-shaped medium tone wood floor eat-in kitchen idea in Boston with an undermount sink, raised-panel cabinets, dark wood cabinets, granite countertops, stainless steel appliances, an island, beige backsplash and ceramic backsplash

This kitchen blends classic & traditional elements to create an elegant chef's kitchen. The stunning features of this kitchen are the custom made vent hood and faux painted island. The island cabinetry was ordered unfinished and our lead carpenter finished the front of the island with ship lap. We had a local faux painter paint and distress the island as well as the pewter metal faux finish on the vent hood.
