Reclaimed wood box beams run continuously across the ceiling of this open concept Scandinavian home, connecting the dining room, living room, and entry in a single cohesive design story. Their warm reddish-brown tones and aged patina bring natural warmth and antique character to every space they pass through, tying together white walls, dark hardwood flooring, a stone fireplace, and iron chandeliers into a unified interior that feels both refined and deeply livable. Sourced from 19th and early 20th century structures and prepared through our process of denailing, kiln drying, and precision milling, every Manomin box beam carries genuine old growth character into your home.
Whether you are a homebuilder, a home remodeling contractor, or a homeowner looking to use reclaimed wood box beams to connect an open concept Scandinavian or transitional home, Manomin Resawn Timbers has been helping people discover the antique charm of reclaimed wood since 2002. We ship nationwide and are happy to help you find the right pieces from anywhere in the country. Visit our showroom in Hugo, MN or reach out to us with a call or a message to get started.

Detail of a cobra wrapping around Shiva's leg.
The incarnation of God as half masculine and half feminine is traditionally called Ardhanarishwara and represents the balance of forces that make up existence. Shiva is the embodiment of unmanifested conciousness that brings everything into existence and takes everything away. Shakti is the manifestation and actual form of that consciousness. She is the sacred energy that is life itself. As fire and heat are inseparable, so are Shiva and Shakti one. He is spirit and she is matter. He is the moon and she is the sun.
This wall hanging piece was made from cutting and welding sheet metal steel using a plasma cutter and MIG welder. The metal was then coated with copper and treated with a patina, creating the green and reddish brown coloring. For Shakti’s lotus and crown, the metal was ground with an angle grinder and then colored with a translucent solvent dye, allowing the steel to shin through.

This renovation was for a couple who were world travelers and wanted to bring their collected furniture pieces from other countries into the eclectic design of their house. The style is a mix of contemporary with the façade of the house, the entryway door, the stone on the fireplace, the quartz kitchen countertops, the mosaic kitchen backsplash are in juxtaposition to the traditional kitchen cabinets, hardwood floors and style of the master bath and closet. As you enter through the handcrafted window paned door into the foyer, you look up to see the wood trimmed clearstory windows that lead to the backyard entrance. All of the shutters are remote controlled so as to make for easy opening and closing. The house became a showcase for the special pieces and the designer and clients were pleased with the result.

The landscape design in this image embraces a natural yet structured aesthetic, blending lush greenery with carefully placed elements. The warm, reddish-brown wooden fence and vertical structures add a rustic, welcoming feel, while also serving as functional dividers and supports for climbing plants. The garden features a layered approach to planting, with vibrant red flowers, deep green foliage, and spiky yellow-green plants, creating rich color contrasts and varied textures.
The decomposed granite pathway adds an organic and earthy element, complementing the greenery while maintaining an organized flow through the space. Overall, the aesthetic balances wild beauty with intentional design, creating a visually appealing, serene outdoor retreat. It’s the kind of space that feels both inviting and thoughtfully curated, perfect for relaxing or enjoying nature’s seasonal changes.

fireplace was originally painted a reddish-orange (or orange red?) so we painted a more neutral darker olive green/gray that would show reds and oranges (and in this case, blues and gold) well. Property was vacant so furniture was brought in to show space was larger than expected.

This close-up captures the craftsmanship that sets a Manomin mantel apart. The deep reddish-brown tones and tight pronounced grain of this Reclaimed Hand Hewn Mantel speak to the unrivaled density and character of old growth Douglas Fir rescued from Industrial Revolution era warehouses and factories. Against that rich timber, a wide hand forged metal strap with a hammered face and square pyramid rivets adds a bold industrial detail that feels entirely true to the history of the wood it holds.
At Manomin Resawn Timbers, the metal straps are not an afterthought. They are part of the story, hand forged hardware that honors the working heritage of the timber and gives each mantel a finished presence that is impossible to replicate with modern materials.
