Spaces by jacflash inexpensively spruced up this client's condo by using several of his existing furniture pieces but adding more organic touches to create this memorable and refreshing space. Based off of his existing bed and the sentiments of his favourite world map painting, we created a frame wall and small work area tying in the fascinating map theme. The central living room wall displayed a sophisticated matte black wainscoting and a satin finished, custom live edge oak coffee table with modern hairpin legs matching a reclaimed wood media shelf mated with industrial pipe shelf brackets. The second bedroom featured a classic barn board headboard with incorporated shelves to hold LED reading lights. Each piece of reclaimed grey barn board has it's own character and textured from 100 years of exposure to Ontario's sun, rain, snow and wind. This created a cozy and organic vibe to a typical stark, cookie cutter condo room. Even the washroom contained reclaimed, grey, barn board shelves which were paired with stylish, brushed nickel shelf mounts.

A small kitchen with white and blue cabinets can create a cozy and charming space that feels both refreshing and relaxing. White and blue cabinets are a popular choice for kitchen design as they bring a classic yet modern look to the room. When it comes to a small kitchen design, the color combination of white and blue cabinets can make the space feel cozy, but not cramped.
White cabinets in a small kitchen can make the room feel more spacious because they reflect light and make the room appear brighter. This gives the perception of more room in the kitchen. Blue cabinets, on the other hand, add a pop of color and personality to the kitchen. Together with white cabinets, they create a refreshing and vibrant look.
When working with a small kitchen with white and blue cabinets, it's important to choose countertops and backsplash materials that complement the overall design. For example, a white quartz or marble countertop can create a cohesive and elegant look. A subway tile backsplash in a neutral color can make the cabinets stand out even more, while a blue mosaic or patterned tile can add a unique touch of personality to the space.
To make the most of a small kitchen design with white and blue cabinets, you can also utilize open shelving or glass cabinet doors. This creates an opportunity to display decorative items or storage and make the space feel more open and airy.

Wooden soffits add architectural interest and complement the natural elements. The spacious lawn surrounding the patio offers an inviting space for outdoor activities and gatherings. To encourage gathering, Rhodes Architecture worked closely with the owner to create special family places such as a music bar and jam space with storage for instruments, refreshments, even a “Marshall Amp” refrigerator. The lowest level is dedicated to play incorporating home gaming and theater, billiards, music, family discussions + hangouts with direct access to the western terraces, gardens, and a park beyond. A second level incorporates pragmatic space; garages, entry/mudroom, mechanical/interstitial space. The two central levels combine entry, offices, kitchen-living-dining, pantry, guest and bath and opens to a surrounding porch and deck. Upper levels incorporate four bedrooms and three bathrooms. Horizontal levels are linked, joined, and focus on a five-level white steel and bamboo stair wrapped in extensive glass that acts as a central hub, light well + atrium lending expansive vertical space and illumination to the home.

This client moved into their gorgeous new Farmhouse styled home with their old, dark, traditional bedroom furniture. They wanted to keep the existing pale blue paint and refresh everything else (including the furniture, bedding, and even the window treatments).
A romantic upholstered bed is the focal point of the room, dressed in neutral plaid bedding with custom designed Euros to pull from the paint color, and topped with photography inspired by nature. Ashy-brown case pieces are in-line with the style of the bed with simple lines and soft curves. A few romantic touches with the hand-made lamps and starburst mirror really elevate this space.

When we met this family of 5 (months from being a family of 6!), their first floor felt outdated and disconnected. They dreamed of a space that felt light and airy, yet infused with rich, earthy materials to create warmth and add bold character. More than just a refresh, they needed a functional layout that worked for everyday life—cooking, laundry, entertaining friends, and even unwinding with a cocktail at the end of the day.
Extending the kitchen into the morning room seating area enhanced both flow and functionality, while a spacious island became the heart of the home—ideal for casual family meals, meal prep, and hosting friends. A dedicated beverage station with a sink, refrigeration, and an awning window for indoor-outdoor entertaining allows for an effortless transition from morning routines to afternoon snacks on the patio.
The laundry room was designed with designated storage for all four kids, creating an organized and functional space. It also serves as a practical landing zone when entering the home, seamlessly extending the light and airy theme with thoughtful design details and playful touches.

When Carrie Waller, founder of Dream Green DIY, set out to refresh her 1960s ranch-style home in Waynesboro, Virginia, she embraced what she calls the “gentle renovation” — thoughtful upgrades that enhance a space without major construction or chaos.
One of her favorite transformations? Swapping out her outdated, rusted baseboard heaters for clean, modern covers from Baseboarders. The Premium Series in White brought instant cohesion to her freshly painted walls and brightened the entire room. With their powder-coated, galvanized steel and tool-free installation, the covers delivered high design with low effort — a perfect match for Carrie’s refined, approachable style.
This project proves that even the simplest updates can dramatically shift the feel of a space. It’s modern warmth with a timeless finish — all without tearing out the baseboards.

This California backyard project was designed to capture the bright, relaxed, and outdoor-focused lifestyle the region is known for. The centerpiece is a modern rectangular pool with clean lines, wide entry steps, and a refreshing aqua finish that enhances the warm, sunny atmosphere.
Light-colored stone pavers keep the space cool underfoot, while a row of poolside loungers creates a resort-like relaxation zone. On the opposite side, a contemporary pergola defines the outdoor dining area—perfect for enjoying California’s year-round mild climate.
The landscape includes drought-tolerant plants, sculptural succulents, and layered greenery that offer both privacy and low-maintenance beauty. A cozy firepit lounge adds a welcoming spot for evening gatherings, completing a backyard designed for comfort, style, and everyday outdoor living.

Relocating from their home in Brisbane, Australia with ocean views to the Pacific, our clients envisioned a refresh for their new lakefront cottage on Pine Lake in West Bloomfield, Michigan. Completed in July 2024, we created new spaces, reimagined old ones, and even swapped places for a primary bedroom and its en suite bath.
Our goal was to create a serene and soothing spa- like experience for the bathroom, all while maintaining gorgeous lake views. But this reconfiguration presented some challenges. The primary bedroom was oversized, while its adjacent bath was tiny and crowded. We completely flipped the locations of the bedroom and bathroom, even rerouting plumbing over the bar in the lower level to accommodate the freestanding tub.
To maximize space, we designed large, walk-in dressing pantries that are as functional as they are beautiful, and lead to the large dual custom vanity. The vanity itself is freestanding to provide access for hand towel bath hardware on its sides. The his-and-hers unit contains built-in dividers, laundry hampers and trash pullouts to maximize its function. An enclosed water closet allows for privacy in the open concept bathroom, and is placed beyond the cabinetry.
The star of this space is the large enclosed wet room. As the focal point of the bathroom, its oversized tiled walls and deep built-in bench allow for a steam or soaking in the tub while enjoying stunning lake views. The wet room is spacious and serene, and perfect for an end to a Michigan winter day.
