This one-of-a-kind bedroom was created for the 2018 Junior League of Miami Design Showhouse at the Historic Deering Estate. The home of Charles Deering was built in 1900. He lived there until his death in the mid 1920’s. When approaching this project, I wanted to stay true to the era and energy of the home. I chose a lighter color palette and a Zodiac mural to highlight the low ceiling, which made the room feel cozy and fun. Vintage art pieces and antiques were sourced very carefully so that the room felt authentic, but still relevant for today’s way of living.

This high-rise condominium at The Mayfair longed for the renewal conceptualized in its 3 bathrooms. Each was a complete renovation, adding relevant aesthetic updates and much-needed functionality and storage. We capitalized on the immense amount of natural light in the primary bath and we amplified it throughout the space by opening up walls to the shower, lining the vanity with full-sized, built-in vanity mirrors, and distributing electrified lighting throughout. Custom cabinetry was designed to capture every inch of usable perimeter space and incorporate the elevated tub platform. The guest bath emulates a classic, luxury hotel feel infused with color, a great tile pattern on the focal shower wall, a furniture-style vanity, and a fun floor design. The powder bath is dark and moody with textural wallpaper and an espresso-colored porcelain floor tile emulating marble. All of the appointments throughout exude the luxury look and feel the client desired, are maintenance friendly and will stand the test of time.

Chicagoland Home Products continually exceeds customer expectations by delivering the best storage solutions, so, it is not shocking to find them helping a client in Glen Ellyn surprise his wife with a custom built-in project. CHP’s customer wanted to surprise his wife with a special entertainment center. It needed to house books and receivers on the upper sections. Eight shelves provided exactly what he, and, maybe, more importantly, she was looking for. Below the shelves, storage cabinets provide room to hide all the things that would create clutter. A perfect surface, with conveniently placed hook ups, set the scene for entertainment. Below the platform for television or other devices, more cabinets wait to do what Chicagoland Home Products does best, provide space for organization and storage. All this would be helpful even if it didn’t look good but, CHP always makes sure their projects look great. This was no exception, with the white shaker fronts, crown and base molding, and round polished chrome knobs. Top it off with white panel backing and the customization of this entertainment center is complete. Keep in mind that, if you don’t like shaker or white or polished chrome knobs, CHP will provide what you prefer. Your project doesn’t have to be a surprise. CHP, you, your child, a significant other can all collaborate on your storage, window treatment and closet solutions.

Client had just completed a beautiful deck, challenge was how to use the space under the deck and how to connect the front yard with the back yard as it was a 9' elevation change. The solution was to build a natural bluestone patio under deck with large natural bluestone steps connecting the front yard to the new patio. The plantings softening all the hardscape, adding color and texture. The lighting created a warm attractive room that was comfortable to access and use.

Designed and built by Terramor Homes in Raleigh, NC. The kitchen cabinets were consciously chosen in classic farmhouse style. Pure white and designed to reach the ceiling, clean and simple inset doors with simple classic chrome hardware pulls make for an impressive statement. Soapstone was used on the perimeter, offering the aged traditional look you would find in a classic farm home. Modern stainless appliances fitting flush inside the cabinet spaces give a very custom and built in, more modern feel, accomplishing the wonderful balance we were trying to achieve. Photography: M.
