The joining of two families is a joyous occasion! And when you have an existing home in a lovely neighborhood with space to spare, a thoughtful whole house remodel can make the space work for all eight (and one dog). Thompson Remodeling was happy to help improve the family spaces of this 4-bedroom, 3-level home and create new bedrooms and bath spaces to accommodate everyone. This whole house remodel included renovations to every level of the home, most notably on the main floor and the basement.
The big kitchen island allows for helpers in the kitchen as well as seating for five! We placed the refrigerator outside of the main cooking area for easy access by the kids. A layered light plan includes natural light from windows and French doors, overhead recessed lights, and pendant lighting for special tasks.
In the living room we converted a window seat into a small alcove to accommodate more comfortable seating for TV viewing. The new dining room fits a table and seating for eight. We also updated the mudroom to a locker room with space for each family member.
In the basement we created two new bedrooms for the oldest daughters and updated the bathroom. The new space is like a home of its own where the girls can entertain friends and hangout.
On the second level, we created a larger bathroom for the kids to share. One wall is dedicated to built-in storage cabinets to house all their towels, toiletries and laundry hampers.

VPC had the pleasure of working with long-term clients on a master bathroom remodel. This beautiful bath remodel included a brand-new shower with intricate details, new paint, and stain throughout, and new vanities with granite countertops. Also, slate flooring was installed in the bathroom as well as a new freestanding tub surrounded by slate backsplash.
Remodeling your bathroom can seem like a complex task but proper planning can help you get the look and feel you want for your home. VPC promises to be with you every step of the way and help your remodeling projects come to life.

Complete Kitchen Remodel in a Lansdale Townhouse
We recently undertook a full kitchen remodel. The kitchen was in a townhouse in Lansdale. The original kitchen had a small, wasteful L-shaped design. An ugly soffit dominated the room. We renovated to make this space into a modern, useful, and beautiful kitchen. Here’s a breakdown of the work we completed:
We started by removing the bulky soffit. This opened up the space. The HVAC system was then cleverly moved to better spots. This was to improve room layout and airflow.
Electrical upgrades were made. They added new wiring for modern appliances. These include a refrigerator, microwave, and dishwasher. We also added more outlets over the countertop. We added them for the new kitchen island. This makes the kitchen more useful and convenient.
Cabinet and Countertop Installation: The kitchen got new cabinets. They are a striking blue. They have gold-colored door knobs for a touch of elegance. We chose a white quartz countertop and white tile backsplash to brighten the space and create a sleek, cohesive look.
We added new recessed lights to improve lighting. We also added two pendant lights over the island. They provide both task lighting and a decorative element.
Door Replacements and Painting: New doors were installed for the closet, bathroom, and garage. They added to the overall upgrade in looks. The entire room was painted to give it a fresh, new feel.
This project transformed a cramped and old kitchen. It made it into a beautiful, useful space. It blends style and practicality for the homeowners.

A view of the new fence on the other side of the yard. We used shorter lumber here, to maintain the same height, from the exterior.
We poured this low retaining wall then replaced the posts and beams before completing our carpentry tasks. As this borders the street, the height is ideal for privacy.
First, we removed sod between the new fence and the sidewalk. After that, we installed gravel and drought-resistant plants to add a xeriscape garden touch. Our highest priority is curb appeal of the home, still, we keep the style of the neighborhood in mind. This transition creates a seamless space that matches both.

Set a budget: The first step in any kitchen remodel project is to set a budget. Determine how much you can afford to spend on your project and stick to it. Consider the cost of materials, labor, and any unexpected expenses that may arise.
Plan your layout: The layout of your kitchen is essential for functionality and flow. Consider the size and shape of your kitchen when planning your layout. If you have a small kitchen, consider using space-saving techniques like installing a corner sink or using pull-out cabinets. For larger kitchens, you may want to include an island or a dining area.
Choose your materials: There are many materials to choose from when remodeling your kitchen, including cabinets, countertops, flooring, and appliances. Choose materials that are durable, easy to clean, and fit your personal style. Consider using materials that are eco-friendly, such as energy-efficient appliances and sustainable countertops.
Lighting: Lighting is an essential aspect of any kitchen remodel project. It can enhance the look and feel of your space and improve functionality. Consider installing under-cabinet lighting, task lighting, and ambient lighting to create a warm and inviting atmosphere.
Hire a professional: While some kitchen remodel projects can be done as a DIY project, it is often best to hire a professional. A professional can help you with the design, installation, and any necessary permits. They can also help you stay within your budget and ensure that your kitchen remodel project is a success.
