I first came to Mary Beth’s home to help with her living room. But that changed when we looked at the office, and started talking about how it wasn’t working. When I stepped it to take a look, I immediately noticed how heavy and cramped it felt. Too many large pieces and clutter created a feeling of overwhelm.
It needed to be redone. Since Mary Beth works full time from home, I wanted to help her make this a space where she could be productive, and feel good about being in for long periods of time.
The end result is an impressive transformation – and it was done very affordably. “Prior to the re-design, my office was a cluttered, disorganized mess that really said nothing about who I am. I tended to use it as a catch all for things I didn’t know where to put or what to do with,” tells Mary Beth. Now, she says it feels so much better working in there, and even got rave reviews from her family when they visited for the Holidays. “It’s now well-organized, bright and seems to flow in the way it’s laid out”.
To remove clutter and the “heavy” feeling, two large bookcases and the couch were removed, and lots of time was spent decluttering. A nicer bookcase was moved to a place that made more sense; together with a cozy rug and upholstered chair we created a lovely reading area, a place she can also relax.
A neutral green on the walls is also soothing, and brings an element of nature inside. Groupings of photos from her travels hang on the walls now, and a larger piece of art creates a focal point. A piece I was delighted to help her find – hand-painted but affordably priced – it makes Mary Beth feel happy, “The art above the desk is beautiful, and it showed me that big doesn’t have to be overwhelming”.
A new desk, relocated to the “command position” in the room (a more powerful placement) is also less weighty than what she had before, but functionally allows for more workspace. We upgraded her desk chair to a high-back leather one. In total, this setup was intentional, for an enhanced feeling of being in control. Mary Beth notes, “I love the desk and how it sits. I can either work by the window and look out at the garden and at the birds, which I love to do, or look out into the living room and be part of anything going on there”.
On the windows we replaced metal blinds with woven roman shades, also with a natural look. They’re cordless, so nothing hangs in front of the beautiful backyard view, and they feel lighter. With the new office design, we also gave Mary Beth plenty of places for storage. Now the things she does use and need don’t need to be out in plain sight, cluttering things up.
In the end, we accomplished our goal of creating a space for Mary Beth conducive to work and also enjoyable. She says, “My work attitude and feeling of what the office is has definitely changed – I like to be there even when I’m not working. It doesn’t feel only like an office but is actually a relaxing place to be”.

Trendmark Inc. AFTER - Gold STAR Award Best Whole House. From blah to beautiful, this kitchen’s transformation not only updated the look but rearranged the way the room functioned. After living in the house for almost 15 years the homeowners knew it was time to invest in the most important room in thier house. The large boxed in florescent light, chopped up counter spaces, and white melamine cabinets just had to go!
The large pantry closet took up lots of space in the kitchen, but the did not offer organized storage. It was nearly impossible to find what you were looking for as items were buried in the back of the closet. By removing this closet and replacing it with a pantry cabinet with full extension roll outs, not only was the floor space increased but so was the usable storage area. The refrigerator was also relocated to
the opposite wall to increase countertop space as well as improve function.
Trendmark Inc Contractor Note:
The creamy glazed alderwood cabinets have raised panel doors and drawer fronts, and feature extras like an arched raised panel range hood that brings style and elegance to the room. The creams and ivories of the room are complemented by the tan and ivory Juperana Santa Cecilia granite countertops and by the bronze hardware and pendant lighting.
The large island provides storage, a prep and clean-up area with an undermounted sink, and an area for family eating or for entertaining service. A focal point in the room is the decorative travertine tile picture frame over the professional grade range. Stainless steel appliances and warm wood flooring complete the look and spread into the eating area and the family room beyond. This room has certainly banished the blahs and become elegant as well as more useful.
Homeowner Score - 100
Perfect score from homeowner. “The TrendMark team was outstanding. Their creativity and ability to visualize the project made it turn out better than expected. The team always was very professional, on-time, courteous, easy to work with, and did incredible work! I’d recommend TrendMark to anyone. TrendMark is unique in that the crew are employee of TrendMark and you know who to expect for the duration of the project. I was comfortable having them in our home at anytime. Not having a string of subs come through made it a very positive experience.
Their attention to detail was amazing. Before I could point out any issue the team was already working on them. Overall, remodeling a kitchen, down to the sheetrock and more and 3.5 baths could be a very painful experience, but this was not the case. It was a very enjoyable and rewarding experience. We love our new home!

2012 NARI CAPITAL COTY, MERIT AWARD WINNER, ENTIRE HOUSE UNDER $250,000
After 20 years of living in this split foyer home in Vienna, VA this couple were ready to have to total overhaul of their residence. Given that this house was built in late 70’s, windows were small, partition walls separating Foyer to Living room and kitchen, light was limited. The old kitchen was separated by walls from dining room and covered in gold vinyl floor and dark oak cabinetry. The wanted all to disappear. The back yard was pretty and with a touch of landscaper had a lot of potential.
The house is located on a corner lot and had set back restrictions to expand from left and back sides.
She owned a large grand piano and loves to play it for company. Having it in a conservatory was her dream.
We met with this couple and after bouncing few ideas back and forth, we all agreed on the following course of action.
Build out a 12’x33’ angular side addition that is open to both adjacent living and dining room. This space will be surrounded with tall windows on all walls and vaulted ceiling with embedded lighting.
The opening to Living room was created by removing a big portion of bearing wall and decorated with couple of paneled columns. This area is now occupied by her grand piano .
The back portion of this addition was converted to new Long Dining room under a beautiful chandelier. There is a set of pocketed French doors implemented into bearing wall connects the dining room to old dining room.
By installing wide plank hardwood floors thorough out entire first floor this house has open floor plan and looks spacious.
The back wall of old dining room was removed and a new 12’x14’ sunroom addition with vaulted ceiling and large transom windows invited the view of beautiful backyard inside. A new French door in sunroom will leads into new patio and backyard.
The wall between Living room and old dining room was widened and furnished with a new pocketed French doors creates privacy from busy kitchen while letting natural light in.
The foyer was widened by taking partition walls and new French doors were placed into kitchen.
The wall between Kitchen and old dining room was removed. This made it possible to expand the kitchen into old dining room and have a breakfast area. A large triple window was installed over the sink bringing lots of natural light into this kitchen.
A set of glass front hutches were placed on both side of new dining room entrance.
All plumbing and gas line, as well as duct work were relocated for new appliances location. The east wall this kitchen has been occupied with a 60” Viking stove and wood mantel Hood making it the focal point and prizing wining attraction. He wanted this huge stove for long time and now it was time to deliver.
New plumbing was added for Island prep. sink making it possible for couple to spend their times cooking together.
The south wall of the kitchen now taken over with a large 48” built in Fridge and couple of floor to ceiling pantries for added storage space.
Burgundy finish cherry cabinetry covered over by unique marble and matching full backsplash makes this project outstanding.
The entire house windows were replaced with higher efficiency double paned windows. Some were widened by the way of cutting and redoing old brick. The entire house siding, fascia and gutters were redone.
A matching brick skirting was installed to create a seamless connection with existing structure.
Challenges such as cutting through lot of bearing walls and creating large openings, tie old and new structure on the different ends, and keep a seamless interior connection made this project more interesting than others.
Now this couple are more willing than ever to entertain, cook and have friends gather around the piano.
The total transformation of this home has been the talk of neighborhood.

This project is an elegant transformation that takes a dated kitchen and living room and removes all of the heavy visual weight to make way for a clean and crisp collection of spaces that are quintessentially Colorado! This project was not without issue: the initial contractor completely dropped the ball and left the space unfinished and in disrepair. After battling through the process of getting things on track for almost a year, the end result is truly worth it. The kitchen's old oak cabinets were removed and replaced with gorgeous transitional white cabinetry from Waypoint Living Spaces. We created a monochromatic palette that moves the eye through the space using texture and light. The far end of the kitchen is highlighted by a large artisan wood range hood, mini-brick stacked stone backsplash, and gorgeous marble inspired quartz countertops. The floors were refinished to a lighter and brighter hardwood, and new lighting was introduced throughout the home. In the living room, we removed the faux wall treatment on the fireplace and have replaced this with a sparkling white stacked stone. One of our favorite features is the custom shelving and copper-lined wood bin next to the fireplace, along with the hand-hewn mantle from KC Heister. This home is a welcoming winter wonderland that is cheery and cozy at every turn! We love this result and are so happy that our clients finally get to enjoy this for years to come! Thanks so much to Grace Combs for these gorgeous interior shots!

In McCormick Ranch, our client wanted to update their house to more of their style with all new finishes throughout their kitchen and living room, new engineered hardwood flooring, update their fireplace area and create a more open kitchen.
Their existing kitchen was U shaped, with a wall creating a separation between the kitchen and their dining area that she wanted to remove to create a huge, open kitchen with space for a large island. We removed the wall in between, which allowed for a more linear kitchen with space for a record breaking 17' island. We chose a warm medium wood with slab front doors and drawers to bring in the contemporary warmth and style, marble looking quartz to add contract and brighten up the space as well as handcrafted subway backsplash, built-in Sub Zero and Wolf appliances and light engineered hardwood flooring throughout to tie all the tones together. Our client loves to bake, so countertop space, cabinet organization and a steam oven was important. In making these changes in layout, the kitchen became far more functional for her and in the style she likes.
We updated the fireplace finishes and style to make it more the contemporary style by adding concrete look tile, linear lines and warmer tones. On either side of the fireplace, we removed a TV built in, moved the TV to the center of the fireplace and added cabinetry and floating shelves where our client could display her art from her travels.

A breathtaking transformation highlighting the structural expansion and complete wall removal of our Sunnyvale project. By eliminating restrictive barriers, we opened the floor plan into a luxurious modern great room. The stunning culinary center features custom flat-panel walnut cabinetry that seamlessly rises to meet the ceiling, beautifully contrasted by a massive engineered quartz waterfall island with dramatic grey veining. Equipped with professional-grade stainless steel appliances, an under-mount sink, and integrated panel finishes, this airy space masterfully pairs high-end functionality with clean architectural lines.

The existing glass shower enclosure was removed as it was outdated and made the already small space feel more cramped. By replacing it with a frameless glass enclosure, it opens up the space while giving it a more modern look.
My client wanted the shower to provide privacy when needed and thought it looked a little plain, so we went with an etched design with frosted glass. This gave her the privacy she wanted with a decorative touch and while still providing an open feel.
