We created a fun and colorful outer space themed bedroom for three-year-old little Gabriel. My clients asked me to incorporate a weather satellite on which Gabriel's grandfather had worked. Using photographs the muralist created a realistic representation of the satellite.

This luxurious master bathroom is a good mix between traditional and transitional, a perfect representation of the homeowners. They wanted our honest advice and opinions, as this is not their strong suite, so we put our designers to work. They wanted an updated master bathroom with a timeless, yet not too trendy look, but still flow into the style of their existing home. We kept the layout of the bathroom the same but removed all finishes and started with a clean slate. We installed a beautiful freestanding pedestal tub which is surrounded by Arabescato Carrara honed marble walls and flooring. The shower floor and accent also has the Arabescato Carrara but in a herringbone pattern which adds nice detail work. The clients like everything to have a place and wanted easy storage solutions out of sight, so the bathroom looks clean. To accomplish this, two shower niches were placed above the built in bench to hide the shampoo bottles, as well as one at the end of the bathtub. Speakman Anystream brushed nickel shower head and Rohl Verona Satin Nickel hand shower, trim and grab bar were installed in the shower, as well as a fogless shower mirror, so the client can shave while he’s in the shower. All new recessed panel soft close cabinets were installed and we added a seated make-up area to her vanity. Three beautiful antiqued silver leaf vanity mirrors were installed bringing out the traditional touch to this bathroom. Each mirror was flanked with Thomas O’Brien Bryant vanity sconces. And to top it all off, the simple Oona 6-light pendant hung from the barrel vaulted ceiling painted in deep purple adding a unique touch to this beautiful classic bathroom. We choose to highlight this project because even though it is a more traditional design style its light neutral color palette represents the beach lifestyle of the south bay. Our relationship with this family started when they attended one of our complimentary educational seminars to learn more about the design / build approach to remodeling. They had been working with an architect and were having trouble getting their vision to translate to the plans. They were looking to add on to their south Redondo home in a manner that would allow for seamless transition between their indoor and outdoor space. Design / Build ended up to be the perfect solution to their remodeling need. Like many in the South Bay, the kitchen is the heart of the home to this family. The homeowners wanted a space that was elegant, warm and clean – an accurate representation of their tastes and style; a place to host Sunday barbecues. The island countertop is natural quartz called Corteccia Leather Slab. A lively cream and blue green quartzite with striking linear striation, Corteccia slabs from Brazil have a special leather finish. Similar to honing, leathering a stone closes the pores, making it much less susceptible to staining and allowing for better performance. The leathered finish presents a unique texture while retaining the stone’s natural color. Since the island was such a rock star we were challenged to find its perfect understated compliment for the perimeter countertops. We selected a polished slab of Madre Perla; a classic natural quartzite. Not only are the colors complimentary but the leather and polished textures play off each other nicely. The rest of the kitchen design fell into place from there.

The project focused on exploring various combinations of finishes, allowing the client to compare different design directions and understand how each choice would influence the overall character of the home. Throughout the design process, multiple options were tested for the roofing materials, exterior wall finishes, and window trims. These visualizations provided a clear representation of the subtle differences in texture, color, and architectural expression, helping the client make confident design decisions. The version presented here is the final selected scheme, combining timeless materials with refined detailing to create a sophisticated and elegant appearance that perfectly complements the home's transitional architecture. The project was modeled in SketchUp and rendered using D5 Render, delivering high-quality visuals that streamlined the material selection process and brought the design vision to life.

Hasami Wall Mirror is a great representation of the harmony between art and function. Designed by Paolo Rizzatto for Fiam Italia and manufactured in Italy, Hasami Mirror features a rear stainless steel mechanism that allows it to be angled as preferred and thus denotes a very dynamic reflective surface. Hasami Mirror is available in a round or square shape.
