Our clients moved into their 1957 home a year prior and needed more space with their 1st child on the way! We decided to bump the kitchen out 13' to gain approximately 300 square feet of new space to meet their needs. The new space included an ample sized mudroom, kitchen and dining area, as well as a new bar. The transformation was very rewarding as the light began to pour into the entire house, not to mention all the handcrafted custom finishes!

The second level has four bedrooms, two of which are suites, a third bathroom, a library/common area, outdoor deck and views of the lake, indoor courtyard and live roof. The home also boasts a lower level complete with a movie theater, bathroom, ping-pong/pool area, and home gym. The interior and exterior of the home utilizes clean lines and warm materials. Mid-century modern bathroom photo in Austin

This beautiful French Provincial home is set on 10 acres, nestled perfectly in the oak trees. The original home was built in 1974 and had two large additions added; a great room in 1990 and a main floor master suite in 2001. This was my dream project: a full gut renovation of the entire 4,300 square foot home! I contracted the project myself, and we finished the interior remodel in just six months. The exterior received complete attention as well. The 1970s mottled brown brick went white to completely transform the look from dated to classic French. Inside, walls were removed and doorways widened to create an open floor plan that functions so well for everyday living as well as entertaining. The white walls and white trim make everything new, fresh and bright. It is so rewarding to see something old transformed into something new, more beautiful and more functional.

The home originally featured dark wood floors, heavy moldings, and glazed cabinetry—hallmarks of a more traditional design. Our mission was to reimagine it entirely with modern sensibility, warmth, and purpose. After living in the house for almost 15 years the homeowners knew it was time to invest in the most important room in thier house. The large boxed in florescent light, chopped up counter spaces, and white melamine cabinets just had to go! The large pantry closet took up lots of space in the kitchen, but the did not offer organized storage. It was nearly impossible to find what you were looking for as items were buried in the back of the closet. By removing this closet and replacing it with a pantry cabinet with full extension roll outs,not only was the floor space increased but so was the usable storage area. The refrigerator was also relocated to the opposite wall to increase countertop space as well as improve function. HUGE transformation! The homes in this area quintessentially have smaller kitchens that dining rooms. In addition, there is no open floor concept so traffic flow is restricted. In this design, we choose to take over the dining room! The fortunate part is the sunroom on the backside of the home was conditioned as part of the home, so the furniture and space plan transformed this room into the "dining room". What a beautiful thing to have on the backside of the home where the view is great (future pictures to come!). The improvements and challenges were to remove the wall between the kitchen and the formal dining room (which was rarely used) and then extend the kitchen into that space. !! This is a great challenge because it changes the flow, original architectural patterns to the home! We (client included) the plan achieved just that with some sacrifices -- but honestly, with so many more rewards.
