The “Stemwinder Camp” home is located in the beautiful Balsam Mountain Preserve community, a private, gated mountain, golf, and equestrian enclave in the western North Carolina mountains. The thoughtful details and design of this craftsman-style cottage provide every room with a sunny, bright interior. In the living room, a beautiful yet subtle fireplace adds warmth and quiet elegance without overpowering the space. These steps to the second story deck are made interesting and safe by adding the landing, The landing also provides the perfect location for the grill getting it off the main deck where the family dines. The plants hide the view under the deck. Notice the beautiful decorative post light that adds additional light to the stair case and surrounding area. Inspiration for a large timeless backyard stamped concrete and rectangular pool fountain remodel in Salt Lake City

With a narrow driveway and leaning concrete retaining walls, parking was a major challenge at this 1938 brick Tudor on Spokane's South Hill. Crumbling concrete stairs added another layer of difficulty, and after a particularly rough winter, the homeowners were ready for a change. The failing concrete walls were replaced with stacked boulders, which created space for a new, wider driveway. Natural stone steps offer access to the backyard, while the new front stairs and sidewalk provide a safe route to the front door. The original iron railings were preserved and modified to be reused with the new stairs.

Not everyone has the backyard that suits a hardscape patio. Those situations sometimes call for a different approach....especially in this case! We built a second-level deck and pergola for this family outside of Greenfield. Cedar all around! They also wanted to retain their beautiful views. So we used a cable railing system that is safe and effective at preventing falls, but also perfect for maximizing those views. I think it turned out well, don't you? Sun-Dried tomatoes anyone?

This is a rectangular pool that is centered on the family room windows of the primary focal point of the house. The spa is recessed in the pool to provide good access and not break up the symmetrical lines of the space. By viewing the length of the pool it gives the allusion of more depth to the yard. The understated diving platform provides the only safe place to dive in the pool and a water feature to drown out street noise. Colored and textured concrete were used for the deck and to cap the existing porches. Designed by Mike Farley.

This small ADA ramp with a powder coated aluminum hand rail provides elderly parents easy and safe access to this beachfront get away. The ramp is built with Wolf Rosewood colored PVC decking. The decking is a non-slip surface. Doug Woodside
