The clients had an existing stairway down to the water that was in need of replacement. They wanted to keep with the natural look and feel of the hillside. Something that would be functional and blend with the surroundings. Because of it's proximity to the grade of the hillside, all premium grade wolmanized was chosen for the decking and fascia to help prevent a future degradation of the material. The grasprail is made of western red cedar and Barkman Landscaping installed the beautiful stone steps at the bottom of the staircase and landing to help with the natural feel and to help keep the staircase from looking massive and overwhelming at the bottom. The clients now have a safe way down to the water with an aesthetically pleasing combination of materials to blend in with the surroundings. Thank you very much Mr. & Mrs. Glass for allowing us the opportunity to re-create your stairway !

Earlier this year we completed a kitchen, lounge and bedroom refurbishment on behalf of our lovely client, and felt honoured to be called back to also refurbish their dining room into a cosy snug area recently.
When designing the space, we wanted to repeat similar materials, colours and themes that were in the other refurbished areas so that our client's property had flow and harmony.
We replaced the flooring throughout the house and incorporated a gorgeous sisal rug made from the same material as the main lounge and had the space painted in the same colour as the hallway and had a feature wall installed to provide tantalising texture.
Before doing this, we had the side window safely boarded up so that wall lights could be installed and so that the room regained it's symmetry.
Previously, the window provided only a restricted amount of day light due to the neighbouring property obstructing light, and hence, was redundant of it's primary function.
We decided to install wall lights each side of the television to provide additional lighting that did not obstruct the view of the TV.
Overall, the space was transformed into an indulgent yet gloriously cosy room, perfect for snuggling up, watching a film and welcoming those winter nights in.

Our client purchased what had been a custom home built in 1973 on a high bank waterfront lot. They did their due diligence with respect to the septic system, well and the existing underground fuel tank but little did they know, they had purchased a house that would fit into the Three Little Pigs Story book.
The original idea was to do a thorough cosmetic remodel to bring the home up to date using all high durability/low maintenance materials and provide the homeowners with a flexible floor plan that would allow them to live in the home for as long as they chose to, not how long the home would allow them to stay safely. However, there was one structure element that had to change, the staircase.
The staircase blocked the beautiful water/mountain few from the kitchen and part of the dining room. It also bisected the second-floor master suite creating a maze of small dysfunctional rooms with a very narrow (and unsafe) top stair landing. In the process of redesigning the stairs and reviewing replacement options for the 1972 custom milled one inch thick cupped and cracked cedar siding, it was discovered that the house had no seismic support and that the dining/family room/hot tub room and been a poorly constructed addition and required significant structural reinforcement. It should be noted that it is not uncommon for this home to be subjected to 60-100 mile an hour winds and that the geographic area is in a known earthquake zone.
Once the structural engineering was complete, the redesign of the home became an open pallet. The homeowners top requests included: no additional square footage, accessibility, high durability/low maintenance materials, high performance mechanicals and appliances, water and energy efficient fixtures and equipment and improved lighting incorporated into: two master suites (one upstairs and one downstairs), a healthy kitchen (appliances that preserve fresh food nutrients and materials that minimize bacterial growth), accessible bathing and toileting, functionally designed closets and storage, a multi-purpose laundry room, an exercise room, a functionally designed home office, a catio (second floor balcony on the front of the home), with an exterior that was not just code compliant but beautiful and easy to maintain.
All of this was achieved and more. The finished project speaks for itself.

This bathroom renovation kept the vintage ambiance while incorporating a few contemporary finishes. We replaced the pedestal sink with a contemporary square, wall mounted sink & faucet, repainted the radiator in a glamorous silver color, installed octagon-designed floor tiles, new subway tile, designed a sleek medicine cabinet, and installed two shower shelves that were safe and out of reach from the client’s children.
Designed by Chi Renovation & Design who serve Chicago and it's surrounding suburbs, with an emphasis on the North Side and North Shore. You'll find their work from the Loop through Lincoln Park, Skokie, Wilmette, and all of the way up to Lake Forest.

These Homewood residents had a desire to turn their aging deck into a safe and more usable outdoor living area. Archadeck of Birmingham built them a custom screened porch with a gable roof. Floor-to-ceiling screens all the way to the top of the gable will offer the homeowners and their guest’s ultimate fresh air and light entry into the space. The finished v-joint ceiling accommodated clean installation of recessed lighting and ceiling fans. In order to attach the new porch, we removed the home’s original overhang and replaced it.

Before – Staircase: Unsafe, Worn, and Severely Outdated
The original staircase was in unsafe condition, with loose, unstable steps covered in moldy carpet and a strong pet odor. The metal railings were rusted, chipped, and visually unappealing, adding to the overall sense of neglect. The entire structure felt insecure, dirty, and outdated.
As part of the renovation, all steps were replaced and securely fixed, using the same luxury vinyl flooring as the rest of the home to create a seamless, cohesive look. The railing was fully restored and refinished, giving the staircase a clean, modern, and safe new life.

If we were to describe this Savage, Minnesota remodel in just a few words; it would be “relaxing at-home oasis.” While the original bathroom design had its fair share of spa-like qualities, including a corner whirlpool tub, it’s safe to say it needed an update.
Replacing the whirlpool tub with a built-in bench allowed us to expand the walk-in tile shower for a truly luxurious master bathroom. We added a new glass panel to enclose one side of the shower but left the other completely open.
In between the dual sinks is a spacious tower cabinet, perfect for storing toiletries and linens. Topping the vanity is a gorgeous quartz countertop from Cambria. Completing this beautiful master bath transformation is brand-new lighting and tile floors with in-floor heating.
Our team loved helping these homeowners give their space a facelift, and we couldn’t be happier with the result!

For this job we repaired, replaced , rebuilt, and put in railing for this homeowners previously unusable deck. We were able to transform this deck to give it a uniform look and make it safe for our clients.

We met with our clients to design an updated entertaining space and bring their vision to life. To complete this outdoor oasis, we needed not one, but three decks – a pool level deck, a second story balcony deck, and a third story walk out. Over 3,000 sq. ft!
To start, we removed the existing decking and railing and installed a brand new frame with proper under deck supports. Then, we installed TimberTech Legacy decking in a gorgeous Ashwood color with Ashwood fascia wrap. Espresso feature boards are placed throughout the large area, and the diagonal pattern that frames the rectangular pool offers interesting angles and lines, making the deck a true work of art. Black aluminum railings were installed on the side of the deck , while black Ultralox and glass balusters suit the front railings.
We removed the existing railings, deck, and deck drain on the second level balcony deck, and replaced it with decking to match the pool level deck, as well as a new deck drain. A proper deck drainage system allows for a safe, dry entertaining space below — a great place to get out of the sun on a hot Maryland day! Black Ultralox railings with glass balusters add an elegant, modern accent to the Ashwood decking.
The smaller upper deck was designed to match the two lower level decks, featuring the same gorgeous details, such as the glass balusters and espresso feature boards.
