Embracing an authentic Craftsman-styled kitchen was one of the primary objectives for these New Jersey clients. They envisioned bending traditional hand-craftsmanship and modern amenities into a chef inspired kitchen. The woodwork in adjacent rooms help to facilitate a vision for this space to create a free-flowing open concept for family and friends to enjoy. This kitchen takes inspiration from nature and its color palette is dominated by neutral and earth tones. Traditionally characterized with strong deep colors, the simplistic cherry cabinetry allows for straight, clean lines throughout the space. A green subway tile backsplash and granite countertops help to tie in additional earth tones and allow for the natural wood to be prominently displayed. The rugged character of the perimeter is seamlessly tied into the center island. Featuring chef inspired appliances, the island incorporates a cherry butchers block to provide additional prep space and seating for family and friends. The free-standing stainless-steel hood helps to transform this Craftsman-style kitchen into a 21st century treasure.

Designed by Tim Higbee of Closet Works: The Murphy style wall bed folds out into a queen size bed with a comfortable 8 inch thick quality mattress. A pull-out table on the right side bed is perfect when guests stay overnight, but folds away into the wall unit when the room is used as an office. Built-in interior lighting above the wall bed is perfect for reading in bed and the switch is conveniently located on the left side of the head of the bed. When the wall bed is open, the lighted, recessed well that holds the bed when it is closed creates a visual separation from the wall storage unit, framing the top of the mattress like a custom headboard. A basement level family room was excavated and enlarged into the hillside to create a larger master bedroom suite. A personal-sized private deck was built as a cozy space with great views and hot tub. New sliders by Fleetwood open up to the deck and view, and built-in headboard cabinet provides tons of storage, and reading lights.

Complete overhaul of the common area in this wonderful Arcadia home. The living room, dining room and kitchen were redone. The direction was to obtain a contemporary look but to preserve the warmth of a ranch home. The perfect combination of modern colors such as grays and whites blend and work perfectly together with the abundant amount of wood tones in this design. The open kitchen is separated from the dining area with a large 10' peninsula with a waterfall finish detail. Notice the 3 different cabinet colors, the white of the upper cabinets, the Ash gray for the base cabinets and the magnificent olive of the peninsula are proof that you don't have to be afraid of using more than 1 color in your kitchen cabinets. The kitchen layout includes a secondary sink and a secondary dishwasher! For the busy life style of a modern family. The fireplace was completely redone with classic materials but in a contemporary layout. Notice the porcelain slab material on the hearth of the fireplace, the subway tile layout is a modern aligned pattern and the comfortable sitting nook on the side facing the large windows so you can enjoy a good book with a bright view. The bamboo flooring is continues throughout the house for a combining effect, tying together all the different spaces of the house. All the finish details and hardware are honed gold finish, gold tones compliment the wooden materials perfectly.

This family room is modern yet warm and inviting. The TV is installed on a walnut panel with LED lights behind which seems to be floating separated from the wall. Below, the white lacquer floor unit provides functional concealed storage to all TV related equipment while keeping the room neat. A natural teak root serves with a beveled glass top as the coffee table. Two modern accent chairs upholstered with an innovative “magazine” print fabric provide comfortable seating while blending seamlessly with the mixture of natural elements in the room.
