This custom Cherry executive desk was designed for a client in Brighton, Michigan, who had been searching for the right desk for their home office but simply couldn’t find what they needed anywhere else. Crafted from solid USA-sourced Cherry hardwood, the desk was custom dyed and stained to complement the existing finishes in the room, creating a warm, cohesive addition to the space.
Functionality was built directly into the design. Grommets integrated into the desktop route cords to a hidden cable management shelf inside the desk, allowing everything to connect discreetly to an electrical outlet located in the floor below. The result is a clean, uncluttered workspace without sacrificing everyday convenience.
The substantial waterfall-style sides and clean lines give the desk a refined executive presence while allowing the natural character of the Cherry to remain the focus.
This project is exactly why we build custom furniture: when the right piece doesn’t exist, we create it around your space, your needs, and the way you want to use it.
Unlike mass-produced desks made from particle board, laminate, or veneer, our desks are handcrafted from genuine solid hardwood. Every slab is individually selected for its grain, character, and natural beauty, ensuring no two desks are ever alike while providing exceptional strength, durability, and the ability to be enjoyed for generations.
As a custom furniture maker we specialize in building furniture that is entirely unique; 100% custom crafted; We are furniture builders that design pieces that fit to your space and vision, and it all starts with a conversation.

The original small 2 bedroom dwelling was deconstructed piece by piece, with every element recycled/re-used. The larger, newly built home + studio uses much less energy than the original. In fact, the home and office combined are net zero (the home’s blower door test came in at Passive House levels, though certification was not procured). The transformed home boasts a better functioning layout, increased square footage, and bold accent colors to boot. The multiple level patios book-end the home’s front and rear facades. The added outdoor living with the nearly 13’ sliding doors allows ample natural light into the home. The transom windows create an increased openness with the floor to ceiling glazing. The larger tilt-turn windows throughout the home provide ventilation and open views for the 3-level contemporary home. In addition, the larger overhangs provide increased passive thermal protection from the scattered sunny days. The conglomeration of exterior materials is diverse and playful with dark stained wood, concrete, natural wood finish, and teal horizontal siding. A fearless selection of a bright orange window brings a bold accent to the street-side composition. These elements combined create a dynamic modern design to the inclusive Portland backdrop.

LE CUCINE ASTRA Wood Line Collection a design that marries contemporary style and advanced functional solutions in a Proposal characterized by strong chrome contrast and unmistakably details....

Willie & Leslie of Barrington Hills loved the location of their home. Its breathtaking views overlooked a wooded backyard and a captivating lake. They didn’t want to move, but they needed more space. But the house was missing that big family room where everyone could gather, relax and converse, and the house was completely cut off visually from the beautiful outdoor view right outside!
They knew what they wanted meant building an addition to their home. They began searching the internet and came across Advance Design Studio, and after browsing through project after project and reading one outstanding client review after another, they were sold on Advance Design. Additionally, they loved Advance Design’s “Common Sense Remodeling” process and felt confident that it would allow the Design/Build company to easily coordinate the multiple projects they wanted to complete all at one time. Willie and Leslie immediately set up a meeting with Owner Todd Jurs and Project Designer Claudia Pop. When the meeting ended, they were sure that Advance Design were the right people and the right approach for their project.
"Establishing a direction and a budget is always key in project of this size," Todd said. "This house was screaming for a family room and it didn't have one. Ultimately, it's about working together towards the same goal of a beautiful functional addition."
The project consisted of a significant family room addition with an extraordinary vaulted ceiling and floor to ceiling fireplace, a guest suite renovation with a luxury bath, a garage addition, and an adjoining outdoor patio renovation complete with a fantastic built in grilling station. The main goal was to add comfort and space to the existing home that would last their lifetime, and finally allow them to capture the amazing view of the backyard and lake that they never could really enjoy previously.
Willie, Leslie and Claudia paid special attention to designing the space to make sure that the footprint of the room did not interfere with the views. Floor to ceiling Pella windows were incorporated into a spectacular window wall to provide plenty of natural light.
Vaulted ceilings gave the room a bigger feel and the stunning floor to ceiling masonry fireplace was designed giving the room a rustic, comfortable feel of a Colorado Lodge. Barnwood doors and exposed wooden beams accentuate the crackling fireplace and family gathering space. An oversized statement chandelier bathes the space in soft light once the sun sets and compliments the exposed wood and fireplace perfectly.
“It simple elegant and beautiful,” Designer Claudia Pop said. “It is a great family room that captures the views perfectly. They love the fireplace, the barndoors and the openness of the space we designed for the whole family now to enjoy.”
And when warm weather beckons, the outdoor patio is a terrific place to spend an evening. The family now enjoys fall nights in front of their outdoor fireplace overlooking the quiet lake. Dekton Trillium Quartz counters tops adorn an amazing grilling bar. Nearly indestructible, they are the only manufactured stone product designed exclusively to withstand high heat in summer and extreme cold temperatures in winter.
The guest bath renovation makes Willie and Leslie’s friends and family feel like they are staying at a 5-star hotel. Carlisle colored Maple cabinets from Medallion make a roomy dual vanity more than adequate with plenty of space to get ready for the day after a peaceful night’s sleep. Cambria Quartz countertops are durable and elegant, while contrasting the neutral cabinets flawlessly. Heated flooring from Warmly Yours is the cherry on top for this cozy guest bath.
All the projects turned out better than they even imagined. Willie and Leslie now have a spacious family room with even better views of the lake and woods, a much larger garage, a fantastic relaxing outdoor patio, and a guest bath that makes it almost impossible to get the guest to leave after their stay.

This bedroom and full bathroom are part of an adventuresome project my wife and I embarked upon to create a complete apartment in the basement of our townhouse. We designed a floor plan that creatively and efficiently used all of the 385-square-foot-space, without sacrificing beauty, comfort or function – and all without breaking the bank! To maximize our budget, we did the work ourselves and added everything from thrift store finds to DIY wall art to bring it all together.
This fabric wall art was the piece that brought the whole room together. We searched through many options at a fabric store before we found the two pieces that we layered to create this custom piece.

Our Uptown series is a collection dedicated to modern environments, where design and architecture integrate in search of elegance and functionality. It supports all design demands through a vast range of formats.

The lower level bathroom keeps up with the game of contrasts. The homeowners were unsure of the dark subway tile at first, but now that it is installed, they are glad that they took the leap! Furniture vanities were searched out online by the homeowners~ and they fit well!

This contemporary New York City kitchen was designed by architect Eva Bouhassira from Hastings-on-Hudson NY and the cabinets were provided by Bilotta Kitchens of NY designer Tom Vecchio. They also worked with August Construction Group of Yonkers, NY as the general contractor. The owners were looking for a decisively modern environment. While keeping the space clean and sparse, they were also searching for a good measure of warmth, creativity, uniqueness, and fun! Last, but certainly not least, the space had to withstand serious cooking and socializing - functionality was a vital part of the mix. Tom and Eva suggested Artcraft Cabinetry (Bilotta's European-styled line made in Canada) in pure white gloss, flat paneled doors and drawers with a channel system. The upper cabinets are glass fronted and framed in aluminum to make it easy to see at a glance where everything is and to show off their collection of glassware and dishes - so it appears to be a real-life, inviting space. The walnut island back panel and TV surround are custom made by MJ Woodworking and beautifully compliment the clean white gloss cabinets and panels. This walnut was repeated in many other areas of the home, tying it all beautifully together. The island seats two, which is perfect for every day snacks. One side of it has open shelves for cookbooks; the other has a waterfall edged countertop made of a blue recycled glass. The range, hood, and microwave are by Wolf, while the refrigeration is all by Sun-Zero paneled in the white gloss cabinets. The paneled dishwasher is by Miele, stainless undermount sink by Julian, custom designed by Eva, and faucet by Dornbracht. Countertop materials range from the aforementioned blue glass to stainless steel to Pure White by Caesarstone. The backsplash behind the sink is a special custom colored blue glass that up close appears to have drops of water on it. The floor is porcelain tile, Kauri from Artistic Tile .The kitchen is an U-shape and opens up to a large dining and living area with beautiful views of Manhattan’s Upper West Side. Driving the design of this home was the clients' need for a centrally located office to manage a busy life, as well as provide a homework and project station for their kids. The traditional office located off the entry and separated from the kitchen and main living area was not functional for their lifestyle. Instead they wanted a command center located off the kitchen so they could easily cook a meal, consult on homework, search for a recipe, and manage the mail within steps of each other. Once moved in, a secondary table centered under the lights will provide a daily work station.
