The master bathroom was huge and quite interestingly shaped, the owners wanted to have a bathroom within a bathroom. So within the main bathroom space - off to the left - we created a separate room for the shower equipped with a toilet and small sink for duel functionality. This 1902 San Antonio home was beautiful both inside and out, except for the kitchen, which was dark and dated. The original kitchen layout consisted of a breakfast room and a small kitchen separated by a wall. There was also a very small screened in porch off of the kitchen. The homeowners dreamed of a light and bright new kitchen and that would accommodate a 48" gas range, built in refrigerator, an island and a walk in pantry. At first, it seemed almost impossible, but with a little imagination, we were able to give them every item on their wish list. We took down the wall separating the breakfast and kitchen areas, recessed the new Subzero refrigerator under the stairs, and turned the tiny screened porch into a walk in pantry with a gorgeous blue and white tile floor. The french doors in the breakfast area were replaced with a single transom door to mirror the door to the pantry. The new transoms make quite a statement on either side of the 48" Wolf range set against a marble tile wall. A lovely banquette area was created where the old breakfast table once was and is now graced by a lovely beaded chandelier. Pillows in shades of blue and white and a custom walnut table complete the cozy nook. The soapstone island with a walnut butcher block seating area adds warmth and character to the space. The navy barstools with chrome nailhead trim echo the design of the transoms and repeat the navy and chrome detailing on the custom range hood. A 42" Shaws farmhouse sink completes the kitchen work triangle. Off of the kitchen, the small hallway to the dining room got a facelift, as well. We added a decorative china cabinet and mirrored doors to the homeowner's storage closet to provide light and character to the passageway. After the project was completed, the homeowners told us that "this kitchen was the one that our historic house was always meant to have." There is no greater reward for what we do than that.

DOWNLOAD NOW   This Glen Ellyn homeowner came to us, frustrated with the layout and size of their current kitchen, looking for help generating ideas for how to maximize functionality within the constraints of the space. After visiting with them and seeing the home’s layout, I realized that looking at the bigger picture of how they used the entire first floor might bring us some dramatic solutions. We ended up flipping the kitchen and family room and taking down the wall separating the two creating one big open floor plan for the family to enjoy. There is still a visual separation between the rooms because of their different lengths and the overall space now relates nicely to the dining room which was also opened up to both rooms. The new kitchen is an L-shaped space that is no longer cramped and small and is truly a cook’s dream. The fridge is on one end, a large cooktop and sink are located along the main perimeter and double ovens located at the end of the “L” complete the layout. Ample work surface along the perimeter and on the large island makes entertaining a breeze. An existing door to the patio remains, floods the room with light and provides easy access to the existing outdoor deck for entertaining and grilling. White cabinetry with quartz countertops, Carrera marble backsplash tile and a contrasting gray island give the space a clean and modern feel. The gray pendant lights and stainless appliances bring a slight industrial feel to the space letting you know that some serious cooking will take place here. Once we had their Dream Kitchen design completed, the homeowners decided to tackle another project at the same time. We made plans to create a master suite upstairs by combining two existing bedrooms into a larger bedroom, bathroom and walk-in closet. The existing spaces were not overly large so getting everything on the wish list into the design was a challenge. In the end, we came up with a design that works. The two bedrooms were adjoined, one wall moved back slightly to make for a slightly larger bedroom, and the remaining space was allotted to the new bathroom and a walk in closet. The bathroom consists of a double vanity and a large shower with a barn door shower door. A skylight brings light into the space and helps make it feel larger and more open. The new walk-in closet is accessible through the bathroom, and we even managed to fit in a small entry vestibule that houses some additional storage and makes a nice transition from the hallway. A white vanity, Carrera tops and gray floor tile make for a serene space that feels just right for this home. An existing attached garage was renovated into a suite for the owners aging parents. The kitchenette includes refrigerator, sink and dishwasher, coffee pot, toaster oven and microwave.

Inspiration for a transitional bedroom remodel in Boston

Experience this classic and timeless Preston Hollow home in a prime location designed by Jessica Koltun Home that honors classic clean lines with a contemporary flair. This home was built for those aspiring for an architectural masterpiece that combines both live-able comfort and sophisticated design in a well-appointed location.

This very unique kitchen design contains two islands and kitchen on the perimeter of the room. This kitchen was separated into smaller kitchen and eating area that with this new design , we merged into one big kitchen. We also opened up the kitchen to the adjacent living room creating one open concept which greatly contributing to clients desired purpose. We removed the load bearing post that separated the kitchen from eating area as well as the main load bearing wall between the kitchen and living room creating the opening over 10 feet wide. This kitchen also incorporated the dogs crate as the owner is a dog trainer and needed to be a part of this kitchen. The smaller island has waterfalls as well as decorative high gloss macassar ebony panel at the back. This is a working island where small bar sink and faucet allow this surface to be used as an additional preparation surface. The bigger island has an overhang for 4 counter stools and in housing the beverage/wine fridge and book shelf which finishes of the end of the island Two big pendant lights are finishing the look of the big island.

This project was a new build, so the client’s wanted to make sure they were able to check off as many “wants” as possible, as well as their needs for the home. For the exterior, they wanted clean lines, not too busy and wanted to add some warmth around the front entrance, that would be a nice contrast against the cooler tones. Once you’re inside, they wanted the space to be open concept on the main floor, but we made sure to differentiate the areas by placing features along the walls, to give the illusion of separate rooms. The large sliding patio door allows so much natural light. The mono-stringer staircase with the structural glass railing! We wanted to keep the main floor as spacious as possible, so we opted to go with the glass panels; this way there are no visual obstructions with the standard spindles. The accent lighting throughout. We added LED strip lighting to some key areas of the home; the kitchen kickplate, the wine wall, in the ensuite niche, under the vanities in the common bath and ensuite and along the stairs. The vanity lighting is also controlled by a motion sensor, so you don’t need to worry about any overhead lighting in the early hours! This is a smart home; the blinds, interior and exterior lights and the locks are all able to be controlled remotely with apps! On the exterior, the light brick against the black aluminum items is a nice contrast to the warm wood tone on the metal siding around the front entrance. This house has a fully finished basement, with their own kitchen and bathroom, and it also has a separate entrance. By doing this, we gave the client’s an opportunity to use this space as an additional dwelling unit. They can rent it out for an additional source of income, or they can have their family stay there, whether it be for visiting, or a long term situation.

At 19 Irving Avenue, the dining room is less a formal destination and more a moment within the flow of the home—an intentional pause where gathering, light, and architecture come together in quiet balance. 6 Positioned within the open plan, the dining space feels naturally connected rather than separated. It sits comfortably between the kitchen and living areas, allowing conversation and movement to carry effortlessly through the home. There’s no rigid boundary—just a subtle transition defined by sightlines, proportions, and the rhythm of the architecture. Light plays a central role here. Surrounded by glass, the dining room is constantly shifting—bright and airy during the day, then more intimate as the light softens in the evening. Views outward become part of the experience, reinforcing Eichler’s idea that even the most everyday moments—like sharing a meal—should feel connected to the natural environment. The design itself is restrained and purposeful. Clean lines and an absence of excess allow the space to feel open and uncluttered, while the scale remains comfortable and human. It’s easy to imagine long, casual dinners unfolding here, with the boundaries between inside and out quietly disappearing. In many ways, the dining room reflects Eichler’s broader philosophy: that a home doesn’t need formal separation to feel complete. Instead, it thrives on connection—between spaces, between people, and between architecture and the world just beyond the glass.

The project began with the owner’s vision to create on their Atherton property a new home, reminiscent of the Mediterranean villas and gardens they loved to visit on European holidays. Welcome to the Campbell House . This was an amazing reproduction house I truly worked with the family from the grassroots-level up . The goal was to place the home and separate garage on the lot to provide the best light, create intimacy and have ample room for a circular driveway and secondary adjoining tree lined driveway to the separate garage . The goal was to save as many trees while giving lots of light to the expansive back patio. The screened porch has a beautiful mahogany floor and overlooks a private wooded area . I also assisted the clients with all finish selections paint and stain as well as roofing and stonework .
