Shed - traditional shed idea in Atlanta
Shed - traditional shed idea in Atlanta
Donald A. Gardner Architects
This traditional home features several gable peaks and a triplet of columns to create a stunning façade. The interior layout positions rooms for ultimate privacy and convenience. A vaulted ceiling and fireplace accent the great room that also overlooks the kitchen and rear porch. Skylights brighten the back porch, showcasing detail to even the outdoor living area. The kitchen’s angled serving bar serves as a divider between the kitchen and great room. Tucked away in the rear of the home is the master suite. Two walk-in closets and an elegant master bath makeup the suite.
For families that need extra storage space or constantly are tracking in dirt, the mudroom leads into the garage and utility room. Upstairs, a bedroom and full bath complete the home, while the bonus space awaits the homeowner’s imagination.

DRAW Architecture
Built in 1890, this former small apartment building had been derelict, and it was the owners’ desire to revive the existing structure and reimagine it as a modern space for living and working. Respecting the overtly historic character of the building, the design blends modern interventions with historic elements to create spaces that feel both warm and modern. The home features three levels of living space, two outdoor balconies, and spectacular views of Kansas City’s downtown skyline.
DRAW worked closely with the contractor and an artist to develop details focusing on craft and materials. As the structure is located on a well-traveled street with only a 5’ setback, the need for privacy became a concern. DRAW’s design team creatively solved this challenge with an art piece by Jesse Small that acts as a screen for the front façade and casts dynamic shadows on the interior that play on organic and constructed forms. The interior stair of the 3-story structure is a central design element, whose glass, steel and open treads allow light to filter through the space.

There is something about a lake in Wisconsin where warm summer days, cool night breezes, laughter and games make for treasured family times. Our clients wanted to create a get-away retreat with plenty of room for multiple generations of family members and friends to enjoy the good times and make lasting memories. The original home on the lake was torn down. The carriage house and boathouse on the property were kept and refurbished to complement the style of the new home on the lake. A new detached garage was built. The traditional style of the lake home is timeless, comfortable, and unfussy; able to stand up to the demands of kids, dogs, and many happy weekend guests.

A remodel of an earlier addition that contained an endless swimming pool. Over time the pool was used very little and the owners decided to remove it and change the area to a library/retreat for the parents.
