The entire loft has an open plan, that unifies the Living room, Kitchen area, dining room and the raised study loft. The two-story burnt orange accent wall unifies the two story space. The ceilings and ducts were painted white to maximize light reflectance. The openings at the balconies both in the Master Bedroom and in the guest bedroom areas were enlarged, and new railings inserted, that allow for uninterrupted views to the outside views through the two-story loft area. Black-out curtains may be drawn in each of these balconies to provide total escape from daylight. The two story glass wall itself is furnished with mechanized shades that come down to provide shield of the western light.

Our Indianapolis design studio made structural and layout changes to this ranch-style home to make it more spacious. We also redesigned the entire space to give it a light, modern look.

We removed walls to create a great room and put in a large wooden beam. We closed off one window to install a wall of cabinets, but the remaining windows still offer backyard views. Part of the formal dining room was converted into a reading nook, and the new kitchen area was defined by adding a rebuilt tray ceiling with X beams and a stunning island top. The dining area was reinforced with a buffet/coffee bar. The new spacious living room could support an XL sectional. The existing stained trim and doors were tied in with vinyl plank flooring and complemented with neutral shades of creams and charcoals to finish the look. We also sourced all the furniture and finishes.

The “Hampton Manor” home boasts many signature features. The cultured stone, gray shingle-style siding, and white trim and accents provide excellent curb appeal. The entry “tower” above the slate-floored, stone-walled portico has windows on all four sides and lighting that provides a glow after dusk. The white aluminum-clad exteriors on the Weather Shield Premium Series direct set, and standard and arch-top casement windows, and hinged patio doors with multiple fixed side panels, add to the home’s appealing exteriors. Bel Arbor Builders works with Custom View Windows in Richmond to specify exclusively Weather Shield Premium Series products for its luxury homes.

The front of this townhouse was boring and obscured by overgrown bushes. We replaced the siding and shutters, installed a new front door, etched and stained the boring concrete step, added a curving brick walkway, built a lattice shield to hide the trash can, redesigned the landscaping and added a river birch.

Our Indiana design studio gave this Centerville Farmhouse an urban-modern design language with a clean, streamlined look that exudes timeless, casual sophistication with industrial elements and a monochromatic palette.

Set in Montana's tranquil Shields River Valley, the Shilo Ranch Compound is a collection of structures that were specifically built on a relatively smaller scale, to maximize efficiency. The main house has two bedrooms, a living area, dining and kitchen, bath and adjacent greenhouse, while two guest homes within the compound can sleep a total of 12 friends and family. There's also a common gathering hall, for dinners, games, and time together. The overall feel here is of sophisticated simplicity, with plaster walls, concrete and wood floors, and weathered boards for exteriors. The placement of each building was considered closely when envisioning how people would move through the property, based on anticipated needs and interests. Sustainability and consumption was also taken into consideration, as evidenced by the photovoltaic panels on roof of the garage, and the capability to shut down any of the compound's buildings when not in use.

Our Indianapolis studio gave this home an elegant, sophisticated look with sleek, edgy lighting, modern furniture, metal accents, tasteful art, and printed, textured wallpaper and accessories.

Project by Studio H:T principal in charge Brad Tomecek (now with Tomecek Studio Architecture). This urban infill project juxtaposes a tall, slender curved circulation space against a rectangular living space. The tall curved metal wall was a result of bulk plane restrictions and the need to provide privacy from the public decks of the adjacent three story triplex. This element becomes the focus of the residence both visually and experientially. It acts as sun catcher that brings light down through the house from morning until early afternoon. At night it becomes a glowing, welcoming sail for visitors.
