Simply Home DecoratingThe homeowners of this condo sought our assistance when downsizing from a large family home on Howe Sound to a small urban condo in Lower Lonsdale, North Vancouver. They asked us to incorporate many of their precious antiques and art pieces into the new design. Our challenges here were twofold; first, how to deal with the unconventional curved floor plan with vast South facing windows that provide a 180 degree view of downtown Vancouver, and second, how to successfully merge an eclectic collection of antique pieces into a modern setting. We began by updating most of their artwork with new matting and framing. We created a gallery effect by grouping like artwork together and displaying larger pieces on the sections of wall between the windows, lighting them with black wall sconces for a graphic effect. We re-upholstered their antique seating with more contemporary fabrics choices - a gray flannel on their Victorian fainting couch and a fun orange chenille animal print on their Louis style chairs. We selected black as an accent colour for many of the accessories as well as the dining room wall to give the space a sophisticated modern edge. The new pieces that we added, including the sofa, coffee table and dining light fixture are mid century inspired, bridging the gap between old and new. Transitional DesignsMy client wanted bold colors and a room that fueled her children’s creativity. We transformed the old storage space underneath the staircase into a playhouse by simply adding a door and tiny windows. On one side of the staircase I added a blackboard and on the other side the wall was covered in a laminate wood flooring to add texture completing the look of the playhouse. A custom designed writing desk with seating to accommodate both children for their art and homework assignments. The entire area is designed for playing, imagining and creating.

As with most beach homes, guest parking is critical and creating an easy to navigate parking area is paramount to design success. Tempest TorchThe Tempest Torch was created as an outdoor lighting and outdoor furnishing/accessory for a wide array of exterior settings and applications. The display possibilities are nearly endless: outdoor lighting for living spaces, walkway pillars, mounted onto moveable stainless steel columns, atop stone pillars or deck posts, or attached to any building's exterior for outdoor lighting. The Tempest Torch's innovation comes from its patent-pending torch technology that requires no mechanical or electrical means. Its no-power draft system simply utilizes the Venturi Effect for its unique flame appearance.
MainStreet Design BuildBuilding a small 6′ x 20′ two-story addition on this 1960 Bloomfield Hills home created room for a gorgeous new master bathroom.
On the second floor, the addition made it possible to expand and re-design the master bath and bedroom. The new bedroom now has an entry foyer and large living space, complete with crown molding and a very large private bath. The new luxurious master bathroom invites room for two at the elongated custom inset furniture vanity by Omega complete with marble countertops. Unique framed mirrors and individual sconces light up each space for separate grooming. The freestanding tub is surrounded by built-in’s with a beautiful Crystorama chandelier above that creates soft ambient lighting for bathing. A separate room with frosted French glass pocket doors hide the toilet and oversized steam shower made for two. Right outside the new shower, warm towels hang on a large wall mounted towel warmer.
By simply adjusting the existing space and adding a small addition, MainStreet Design Build gave these homeowners the bathroom (and bedroom) they had been dreaming about.

Wall TheoryThis Wall Theory client used our DIY friendly faux brick panels to create a feature wall that gives this rustic-chic dining room texture and dimension. The distressed wood picnic table and metal chairs play off the brick, and a large chalk board sign is displayed in the centre. These panels are simply glued or screwed to the surface, and can be installed in an afternoon.
Simply Put InteriorsI love a beautiful and simple window treatment. I designed these beautiful, silk drapery panels to be mounted on a board. The gold silk on the band was also used to create a micro-welt at the bottom of the pleats.

Totty Interior DESIGNSThis wall painted in Simply White- satin finish has been accented with the photography work of the condo owner two of which have been featured as a cover on the popular Outside Magazine. These once blank yellow walls now showcase some of her best work and create a custom special place for her to enjoy every day!!
The black pedestal table has been customized with a hand rubbed silver leaf application to compliment the tones of pewter throughout the space. Two gold chrome chairs pair well with the gold flecks in the metallic grey wallpaper on the opposite wall.
Signature Designs Kitchen | Bath | InteriorsOur client desired a bespoke farmhouse kitchen and sought unique items to create this one of a kind farmhouse kitchen their family. We transformed this kitchen by changing the orientation, removed walls and opened up the exterior with a 3 panel stacking door.
The oversized pendants are the subtle frame work for an artfully made metal hood cover. The statement hood which I discovered on one of my trips inspired the design and added flare and style to this home.
Nothing is as it seems, the white cabinetry looks like shaker until you look closer it is beveled for a sophisticated finish upscale finish.
The backsplash looks like subway until you look closer it is actually 3d concave tile that simply looks like it was formed around a wine bottle.
We added the coffered ceiling and wood flooring to create this warm enhanced featured of the space. The custom cabinetry then was made to match the oak wood on the ceiling. The pedestal legs on the island enhance the characterizes for the cerused oak cabinetry.

The large island is able to accommodate conversational seating to be near the cook, but does not interrupt the traffic path to the cooktop, sink, and refrigerator. White painted periphery cabinets with a rich countertop creates a larger outline, while the dark stained island cabinets and lighter countertop grounds the center of the space.
