This was an historic cottage with a small bathroom on the lower level. The existing tile was in good shape, but had a hunter green dot in the floor tile and a green rope tile in the shower. The design plan was to simply re-tile the floor, remove and change out only the deco portion in the shower, repaint the vanity, install a new countertop and replace the faucet and toilet. A black pebble was installed on the shower floor. We also added new black baseboards and crown moulding. Making the renovation cost effective while achieving a dramatic new look. Silver Lining House is a modern revival residence located in a Historic District neighborhood. Replacing a nondescript ranch, the new architecture is inspired by a revisionist historical perspective, exploring what the original 1955 design could have been as significant from the mid-century period. Until the owners are ready to redesign the fireplace, we simply added paint to the existing mantel surround. We will likely take the redesign all the way to the ceiling and choose cut stone based in gray. The mantel will flow with the new shelving around the TV. The TV floats on the wall surrounded by custom, rough hewn floating shelves. The baskets below will be replaced by an upholstered storage bench that can be pulled into the room for added seating if necessary.

We maximized the budget here while adding pizzaz. The existing closet doors needed to either be replaced or upgraded. Because the budget was focused on other things, we simply added quarter-round to the existing flat doors to give them depth and character.

Finished carpeted basement with wall mounted flat screen TV with surround sound bar and speakers, comfortable sectional for movie night or video games.

The original Kitchen had all oak cabinets. We had all of them custom painted. The perimeter cabinets in a soft beige color and the island cabinets in a slate grey. A large and cumbersome hood was removed and replaced with this sleek glass version. The pendant light added a very sophisticated element to the design. The glass backsplash is simply gorgeous and changes color depending on the time of day and your location in the space. This house has spectacular views of Puget sound and the ferry boats going by.
