The Lounge Chair by Poul Henningsen. A masterpiece forged by a singular piece of steel tube bent into the most comfortable luxury relaxation chair. One of the nicer things about the Lounge Chair is the way it seems to fit every different room that it gets placed in.

Set on Camelback Country Club with sweeping views to the golf course and surrounding peaks—Camelback, Piestewa, and Mummy Mountain—this Paradise Valley estate was designed with one clear priority: make the view the main event. Every line of the pool and landscape plan was meticulously composed to pull your eye outward, enhance the architecture, and create an atmosphere that feels singular to this property.
The backyard is anchored by a custom resort-style pool and spa composition that reads like a modern water courtyard—clean geometry, natural stone surfaces, and layered water movement. Bubblers and deck jets add sound and sparkle without interrupting sightlines, while a low-profile fire element and lawn panels soften the hardscape and keep the space feeling livable, not just a showpiece.
Beyond the resort core, the property expands into an estate-scale recreation zone, including a full sport court framed in stone paving, structured planting beds, and evening lighting that keeps the grounds active after sunset. The perimeter is finished with privacy hedging and layered plantings—lush, controlled, and intentionally quiet—so the mountains and fairways remain the star.
This home set a record-breaking sale, closing $1M higher than any home north of DoubleTree, and it sold in a single day. The developer, builder, and buyer all echoed the same thing: the pool and landscape sold the home, and then the record number followed. It’s the kind of project that proves what we believe: when outdoor living is designed at the highest level, it doesn’t just complement a home—it defines it.

Steve Lazar's newest project, a six-bedroom residence built on a hillside peak of 30th Street in Hermosa Beach for design+build by South Swell, is a study in the functional exploitation of lot size and surrounding beauty. That, and an evolution of the designer’s singular style.
Modernist in its veins, the new home has the earmarks of a Lazar design inside and out. There’s a hint of lifeguard tower in its exterior, though more muted than visible in his past projects, mainly due to a ring of rusticated wood cladding swathed around its mid-section. Other signifiers are there, too, from a row of high-perched observation windows to a slightly raised metal hip roof of soft blue. Jutting out slightly over the home, its underside dressed in tidy shiplap, the roof contrasts smartly against the clean white stucco and earthy wood of the lower levels. In all, it’s still clean-cut Lazar, but more organic than sleek.
“I use a lot of the same ideas,” says Lazar, standing outside the structure while craftsmen and workers buzz around, putting finishing touches on the place. “ “I have a signature vocabulary, but I adapt it with each custom home to meet a client’s needs and maximize the particulars of that space.”

The main living area serves as a breathtaking panoramic lounge, where the city’s vast architectural landscape is welcomed into the home through wrap-around glass. Designed as a celebratory environment for gathering, the space is anchored by a plush sectional in deep amethyst, paired with a custom silk rug that creates a soft, painterly foundation underfoot.
The furniture choices favor curvaceous, organic silhouettes—from the light-blue swivel chairs to the amorphous stone coffee table—counteracting the hard edges of the skyscrapers visible beyond. Muted lavender Roman shades add a layer of soft texture, diffusing the light and framing the iconic skyline like a series of living murals.
By balancing rich jewel tones with a light-filled, airy layout, the room achieves a sense of dynamic tranquility. It is a space that feels entirely singular, reflecting the owners' successful transition into a city lifestyle that is as expressive and vibrant as it is sophisticated.

A palette of cottage white and wood mixes easily with midcentury modern style and function. Drawers, specialized for utensils, cookware, and tasks. Tiled panels flanking the stove slide sideways to reveal a spice storage and TV; above, quarter-sawn oak cabinets hide additional storage. Brass and bronze pendants cast their light on leathered granite countertops and wood-look concrete dining surface, crafted in metal, doubles as a modernistic sculpture.
The Diminutive Pantry
This diminutive walk-in pantry performs myriad tasks in singular style. Behind its mullioned-glass door, red lacquered walls draw the eye in and up. Inside, one finds a wine bar, coffee station, wall storage, lighted shelving, and generously-sized drawers conveniently lit from within. A sturdy walnut countertop handles tasks and the easy-to-clean subway tile backsplash makes this pantry a true workplace.

The recent restoration of Giant View was guided by a singular principle: preserve and strengthen the spirit, craftsmanship, and mountain character of the original camp for future generations. The renovation was approached as an act of stewardship.
We invested extensively in professional arboricultural care to protect the long-term health of the immediate forest. A new engineered septic system was carefully designed to work with the site's natural topography and setting. Existing retaining structures were stabilized using approaches intended to preserve the natural appearance of the setting. Exterior lighting was designed to be fully Dark Sky compliant.
Part of the meticulous restoration of Giant View, a historic 1940s Adirondack camp compound on 20 private acres in Keene Valley, NY. This legacy High Peaks estate is currently available for acquisition. Architectural inquiries and private viewing arrangements are welcome. For additional details, the property listing is available on the Merrill L. Thomas agency website at www.adirondackestates.com (MLS# 202597); email: dominika@adirondackestates.com

In the Mirò living room there is a refined contrast between vertical and horizontal lines, embellished by decoration in crystal resin and floral interweaving. However, the repetition of the curved lines opens up like a fan articulating its leitmotiv, and combine with the transparencies and reflections of the window and mirror. In the Mirò living room, as with the other furniture from the collection, the singular element is the light, reflected on the surfaces and caught by the crystal details glimmering like gemstones. The latter can be handpicked, illuminating your Arredoclassic pieces with little LED lights, modulating and enhancing the environment to your taste.

Our clients had a cramped and outdated kitchen that lacked flow. They envisioned a space the family could share, including an eat-in kitchen with an island. Their small master bathroom also needed a facelift, more counter space, and storage options. They desired both spaces to be clean with a modern aesthetic.
Thoughtful architectural planning dramatically opened the space in this home to encompass the kitchen, dining, and hallway areas into one unified expanse. JRP removed the soffit and pushed back the appliance wall into the hallway to create the space needed for the central island-a place to hang out while dinner is being made, but also double as an additional food prep area. The cabinetry, along with the quartz backsplash and countertop, made for a clean, modern look.
Upstairs, the master bathroom transformed into a clutter-free zen zone. The tiny closet and outdated vanity were removed and replaced by an integrated counter space with white oak cabinetry, drawers, and open space shelving. The dated round-framed mirrors were swapped out in favor of one large, singular mirror.
The most used areas in this home are now comfortable and polished with surfaces that are both simple and easy to clean. This remodel design embraces modern living at its best. The focus on clean, uncluttered lines, light timber elements, and white countertops came together to give our clients the minimalist esthetics they were looking for.
