The new stone stairway has a geometrical curve and regularity that allows much easier access between the upper and lower landscaped areas. The material is quartzite and was chosen for its flatness as well as its resistance to freeze damage. The stonework is built on top of a concrete and steel foundation.
The spectacular railing is made of African Mahogany. The posts were securely installed onto deep concrete footings with stout brackets. The railing had to be built in place to make sure that the curve was perfect. The result is a very beautiful and solid railing. In some light it looks like the helical railing is just floating in place. It is quite a surprise to grab onto this apparently floating railing and feel its solidity.

This eco-friendly deck is made from Fiberon composite decking. The step-up design helps define different areas of the space. The Sonoma Farmhaus project was designed for a cycling enthusiast with a globally demanding professional career, who wanted to create a place that could serve as both a retreat of solitude and a hub for gathering with friends and family. Located within the town of Graton, California, the site was chosen not only to be close to a small town and its community, but also to be within cycling distance to the picturesque, coastal Sonoma County landscape.
Taking the traditional forms of farmhouse, and their notions of sustenance and community, as inspiration, the project comprises an assemblage of two forms - a Main House and a Guest House with Bike Barn - joined in the middle by a central outdoor gathering space anchored by a fireplace. The vision was to create something consciously restrained and one with the ground on which it stands. Simplicity, clear detailing, and an innate understanding of how things go together were all central themes behind the design. Solid walls of rammed earth blocks, fabricated from soils excavated from the site, bookend each of the structures.
According to the owner, the use of simple, yet rich materials and textures...“provides a humanness I’ve not known or felt in any living venue I’ve stayed, Farmhaus is an icon of sustenance for me".

Imagine a floor that seems to meld two entirely different materials—soft, sensual fabric and strong, solid wood. This gorgeous hardwood has a delicately suede surface that actually feels soft to the touch.
• Each unique plank is hand-brushed with firm wire implements, which dig into the soft portions of the wood, leaving the harder minerals intact. The result is a new emphasis on the grain and the six color variations—the grain stands out dynamically, and the colors are enriched.
• Can be installed virtually anywhere—on, above, or below grade in a nail, staple, glue-down, or floating installation method.
In the flooring industry, there’s no shortage of competition. If you’re looking for hardwoods, you’ll find thousands of product options and hundreds of people willing to install them for you. The same goes for tile, carpet, laminate, etc.
At Fantastic Floors, our mission is to provide a quality product, at a competitive price, with a level of service that exceeds our competition. We don’t “sell” floors. We help you find the perfect floors for your family in our design center, or bring the showroom to you free of charge. We take the time to listen to your needs, and help you select the best flooring option to fit your budget and lifestyle. We can answer any questions you have about how your new floors are engineered and why they make sense for you…all in the comfort of our home or yours.
We work with designers, retail customers, commercial builders, and real estate investors to improve an existing space or create one that is totally new and unique...and we’d love to work with you.
