Recessed dimmer lights and surround sound provide the most intimate of bedrooms in which to relax. Can you spot the in-ceiling speakers?

The owner of this 1960s, low-slung house challenged Board & Vellum to give it a major overhaul. Located across from Puget Sound, the house already had a lot to offer but the dated style, low ceilings, tight spaces and interior walls that blocked Sound views kept it from fulfilling its full potential. Board & Vellum gutted and reimagined the whole house, giving it a more traditional style. The interior—previously quite dark, thanks to brick- and wood panel-clad walls—was transformed with white trim, bright detailing (such as the hand-glazed tile in the kitchen), and plenty of built-in casework for the homeowner to display the travel mementos she collected throughout her career in the airline industry. Removing a fireplace in the center of the house and opening up the floorplan through to the staircase and entryway lets light flood in and allows for water views from across the main living area and kitchen. The exterior of the house received a dose of character with brick, corbels, and a curved eyebrow roof above the front entry, which also gave the home office area its distinctive barrel ceiling. Very excited to share what we did on this project. We installed a 75” Samsung Q9 4k TV display with outstanding picture quality, to enhance the quality sound we installed a @sony Receiver for Surround sound. Our client will enjoy high-fidelity sound from this 5.1 channel Surround System. This System is designed to deliver the most sonically impressive architectural Loudspeakers. We also provided audio distribution solution and installed Savant IP Audio 50, featuring built-in amplification, audio distribution, Savant Music streamer for complete audio immersion. We set up a Savant Control System with an elegant Savant remote and intuitive App. The Savant Pro Remote gives our client control of all their entertainment, lighting, climate control, and more. Quickly recall scenes or favorite channels using the built-in voice control. Do you have a question about Savant or home Technology or an upcoming Residential project? Hidden surround sound system meant to be heard not seen. We used a Leon center channel speaker custom made to match the plasma TV. The system is controlled by a URC remote. The system has a dual 8" subwoofer built into the wall. Photos by Joy King
