This British Colonial theme new residence sits atop the ridgeline on the west end of Sanibel Island overlooking the Gulf. Carefully manicured dune and beach access offer breathtaking views from the main and upper patios of the residence to the beach and the sunset. A lush, tropical entry runs the length of each side property line from the road, along each side of the house, to the CCCL line and provides a dense privacy barrier from the beach access path along the east property line. Tropical bamboo, white bird of paradise, traveler palms, dwarf leaf clusia and relocated native trees and shrubs make up the dense buffer. In the front of the residence a specimen multi-stem Sylvester Date Palm anchors the center drive island while stately royal palms, foxtail palms and multi-stem adonidia palms accent the foundation of the residence. This ideal client had a specific idea for their property which we were able to visualize and bring to reality.

This Riverdale courtyard is a beautiful, multi-functional space specifically designed to meet the needs of the client. The small bbq shelf on the upper deck provides just the right amount of space without hindering the transition down to grade. Wrapped steps ramp up the style in a very simple, linear space. Artificial turf is great for the resident dog, and it can take a beating from a kids using the basketball net. The perimeter walkway is heated in the winter so that there is always a clear path to the garage, no matter the weather. Wide re-purposed carriage doors swing into the yard and allow the garage to integrate with the landscape. The space under the deck is a perfect hidden lounge with total privacy and a sense of calm. A custom screen hides the AC unit, and the trough drain becomes a playful feature with a whimsical fish pattern.

The main goals of this project was to make it more usable and enjoyable for the owner, to reduce maintenance and to created a covered area for enjoyment year-round. This design also kept the family's new puppy in mind - fencing it in for safety and planting with careful consideration of plants that are safe for dogs. The winding pathway for humans is reminiscent of a stream bed and there is also a narrow perimeter fence specifically for the pup! Ben Park

The classic Spanish architecture of the house needed a memorable courtyard to welcome visitors and an extra dose of curb appeal. We designed an exquisite wrought iron front gate as the first point of entry with a Moorish star fountain just beyond that beckons you to enter. A creamy white sandstone creates an ethereal floor with a subtle but striking border detail around the fountain. Original Malibu-style tile was designed specifically for the fountain and custom colors complete this elegant and lovely water feature. The soft sound of brimming water is a soothing balm in a busy city day.
