Lonicera sempervirens (Coral or Trumpet Honeysuckle) is a native vine, reaching approx. 20' with red tubular flowers that attract hummingbirds, bees and butterflies. Fruit attracts quail, goldfinch, hermit thrush and American robin. Larvel host to the spring azure and spring clearwing moth. Trellises were constructed by the client reusing existing bamboo stakes they already had, a a great do-it-yourself project - reuse, recycle, functional and aesthetically pleasing.

Slow-growing, spreading branches to 15 to 20 ft. tall and wide. Full sun. Evergreen Conifer. Weeping Blue Atlas Cedar has drooping, dramatic form which makes this evergreen plant a striking addition to the landscape. It may be used as an accent planting or a large specimen tree. It is a focal point plant which can be featured in a garden spot certain to catch the eye of any visitors, and the twisted branch habit provides year round interest. Weeping Blue Atlas Cedar needs to be trained and may be espaliered, trellised or even grown as a bonsai plant to accommodate its placement in a garden. Elegant pendant branches display icy blue needles. Must be staked to desired height

The traditional garden at the home provided inspiration for the remodel. Many of the plants are natives or able to thrive in the Great Lakes region, so the garden requires minimal watering.

Beautiful, expansive bluestone patio, dry-stack terracing, boulder caps. Extensive regrading and re-working of the back yard which had a significant drop off. In order to create the space we had to completely terraform the space. The walkways are bordered with 4x4 pressure treated wood, staked into the ground, continuing the gorgeous bluestone all around the house. The front garden bed was also redesigned with river rock, boulders, and trees to be planted in the Spring.

The hot tub patio is designed to provide flexible furnishing options. When open or unfurnished the ground plane details and lighting bring the space alive. This area can also accommodate chaise lounge chairs or larger dining assemblies. The plantings envelop and calm the space.

A Pennsylvania farmhouse kitchen garden, also called a potager garden, grows tomatoes, berries and beans. The garden is punctuated with weathered steel Akoris Garden Tuteurs that provide support and architectural punctuation in the garden year round.

This living room has a long wall that needed something interesting that had a little flare but still a clean and rustic feel. But utilizing vintage garden stakes as picture frames holders, flanked by these mirrored, iron candle holders, USI was able to create a natural look for this bachelor.
We are waiting for the sofa and a few chairs to still be delivered and will and will add those photos soon, we thought you'd like to see this space.

This newly constructed ‘farmhouse’ had an overgrown city landscape just begging to be cultivated. Today, two almond trees flank the parking strip, while plums, blueberries, raspberries, grapes, herbs and flowers overflow the courtyard garden. A split cedar fence is the perfect rustic backdrop, an inspiration that drove the client to cover every picket with an aluminum can! Raised beds built from dry-stack stone define and contain this urban farmstead, while drip irrigation and rainwater harvesting help keep the landscape watered in a low-impact way.
