Our clients have been raising their family in this charming Lakewood ranch home for several years and were ready to make some updates to their home to make it better fit their lifestyle. In particular, the existing kitchen just wasn’t meeting their needs. They were sacrificing usable square footage to redundant circulation and the kitchen wasn’t connecting well with the other spaces in their home, so things had to change. We started by reworking the entry to the kitchen and switching up their layout to allow the kitchen to flow seamlessly with the rest of the house. To add to the open feeling we were striving for, we removed the existing ceiling soffits and created a clean transition between the kitchen and dining room and installed the same wood flooring throughout the entire home. Aesthetically we wanted to create an inviting kitchen that felt clean and bright but could still stand up to a busy family. Soft grey shaker cabinets gave us the welcoming air we were looking for while providing a subtle contrast against the white quartz counters and backsplash tile. We utilized the same elegant pulls on all the cabinets to add to the cohesive look of the kitchen and keep things from feeling too cluttered. We wanted to have a little fun with the backsplash without loosing the clean feeling we were going for, so we selected a crisp white picket tile to add a pop of texture. Updating the dining room light fixture and adding a pendant over the sink help to personalize the space and the charming shelves provide an opportunity to display original sculpture.

Sometimes we start with a few foundational items and a blank slate. We’ve worked with these Clients on their previous home, and they were ready to make their bedroom suite all their own. Keeping the built-ins was a requirement as was wallpaper, some new window treatments, a closet overhaul, and all the decor and details. We kept the bed and drapes and swapped the rest to create a luxe sleeping retreat.
Phase 2 of this project was to tackle the dining room and adjacent powder room. The dining room had a small sun room attached to it that was not being utilized. We turned it into a luxe home bar with custom cabinetry and a stunning quartz countertop / backsplash. Gold wallpaper on the ceiling completed the room and highlighted all of the fun metal details throughout the space. We ran the color from the bar through the dining room and accented it with bold wallpaper. We added some contrasting colors with the rug selection and brought in wood tones with the furniture to ground the space.

This home started with 2 seating spaces, one of which was barely used and held workout equipment. The kitchen was too small to allow the multi generational family to work together and store their various supplies and equipment. There was very little connection with the big backyard that the homeowners desired. The dining table was rarely used because it was so separated from the other spaces.
We removed walls, opened up the rear wall with a big folding door, switched the positions of the various spaces to enlarge the kitchen, the dining and the single seating space.
Now they have real California indoor/outdoor living that the whole family can fully utilize.

A growing trend in today’s home interiors is that of luxurious bathrooms. Homeowners think about investing in an elegant and cosy bathroom due to various reasons. Some of them see the bathroom as their temple of solace, where they do all their special self-care activities. Others want their bathrooms to be the space where they can enjoy the time with themselves. People also see the bathroom as an extension of their taste and personality.
There are ways, however, to achieve a luxurious ambiance in your bathroom. If you check out the best interior design in Singapore recommendations, here are some of the most valuable tips and tricks that you may do:
1. Invest in cove lighting.
Cove lights are trending these days because of the way they change the environmental settings of any room. They are not as bright as general lighting, but they can illuminate the space just right. They are also very versatile and can be installed in bedrooms, kitchens, living rooms, and most notably, bathrooms.
Instead of using a central light in your bathroom, it would be posher to use cove lights. The light source is not blinding but is enough to illuminate the area evenly. The lights, due to their skewed diffusion, do not overlap each other, so you can enjoy an intimate ambiance while doing your self-care tasks.
2. Have a bathtub in place.
One of the most important aspects of a luxurious bathroom is the bathtub. It not only symbolises that you have the money to spend on one, but more importantly, you can afford the space for it. You also have the time to relax and enjoy a long bath with the tub in your bathroom.
While it is more common to have a built-in tub in most bathrooms (as a way to utilise space), you may opt for the standalone kind. This tub is not fastened onto the wall but instead held stable on the floor (similar to those in Victorian-era mansions). You may also have your water system customised to accommodate the tub.
3. Declutter.
Achieving a luxurious bathroom doesn’t mean you have to spend a lot on it. The best interior designs in Singapore feature bathrooms that are minimalist in terms of décor and style.
You can start by removing all the unnecessary items in your bathroom, cleaning up all corners down to the last speck of dust. You may then have it repainted with a colour scheme that speaks of cleanliness, relaxation, and peace. These shades include white, grey, blue, and green, as they are relaxing to the eyes and easy to clean.
You may also want to invest in an organiser, where you can place all your toiletries in one place and not have them occupy your bathroom surfaces. This way, it will be easier for you to add decorations and other accents to create a cosy vibe.
It also pays to have an indoor plant as an accent in your bathroom. Not only does it speak of freshness (which today’s luxe homes embrace), but it also offers a pop of colour that breaks the monotony of your bathroom colour scheme.

Full second floor renovation with new expanded bathroom. We started this project by taking down all the second floors plaster on the walls and ceilings. We reframed the bedroom closets to better utilize the space as well as adding a new hallway linen closet. We enlarged the main bathroom giving room for a new show stopping shower. New insulation, drywall, and trims were installed throughout. We also installed all new soft close by pass closet doors, new closet shelving, and black gas pipe closet rods. New Johnson hickory hardwood floors were installed throughout the bedrooms, hall, and stairs in English pub series; color hickory scotch. The bathroom tile work is exceptional and the metallic accent band adds to the look. From the ground up this second floor is brand new and it shows. Everything is now crisp and bright; a totally different space.

This kitchen started as a builder basic with no personality or charm. The layout didn't have the best function and the island was poorly placed. The homeowners purchased this house with remodeling and upgrading in mind. The layout was changed to accommodate two people cooking together. Zones were created for meal prepping, cooking and baking. The island was expanded to fill the space and utilize bar seating. The walk through butlers pantry was turned in to a wine bar with a fridge, storage and custom glass cabinets. A medium toned hardwood floor was layed throughout the entire lower level

This home sits comfortably next to a creek on the north end of Chico. What started as a simple kitchen remodel turned into a complete home makeover! By capturing under-utilized space in the existing garage, we were able to double the size of the original kitchen! Raising the sunken living area helped round out the expansive great room, and also provides a much safer home for the grandchildren.

Bathrooms weren’t always a focal point for homeowners and buyers, and it shows in homes that haven’t been built or updated recently. Now, home buyers and homeowners are looking for more than just a bathroom focused solely on utility.
Bathrooms with double-sink vanities, soaker tubs, steam showers, and other spa-like features are at the top of the list for buyers. Even just updating to a neutral color scheme and reglazed the tub can increase buyer interest and modernize this essential part of the home.
At Curbio, we are a pay-at-closing concierge solution that helps homeowners captivate buyers while walking away with the most money in their pocket. We pride ourselves on making smart home improvements to modernize dated bathrooms and get sellers more money back at the closing table.
After determining which pre-listing bathroom updates will result in the greatest return on investment, our licensed general contractors will get started whether the project is a quick bathroom refresh or a full remodel. With typically a faster project completion than traditional general home contractors, the project will not face unnecessary delays. Our teams also handle the entire project from start to finish so you do not have to. This makes for happier homeowners, and agents.

After undertaking a few minor updates over the years, these homeowners came to us ready to tear out their kitchen and start from scratch. The existing kitchen was large, but not laid out well for the everyday use it was getting. A bulky double fireplace in the center of the living space took up a lot of room and made the dining room feel disconnected from the kitchen, despite the substantial opening between the two. We removed the oversized wood burning fireplace and replaced it with a smaller gas one with shiplap above, creating a stylish featured piece. Meanwhile the kitchen was reimagined and reorganized into a functional space for a home chef that will work better for years to come.
These homeowners’ main concern was to update the style and function, as well as having quality materials that would stand the test of time. They wanted updated, gray cabinets; but didn’t want to lose any of the warm feeling of their home. Together with our design team they chose a light, warm gray for the perimeter cabinets and a darker gray to make the island a focal piece. The warm, light colored quartz countertops blend with the lighter gray and contrast nicely with the island. The textured dark blue backsplash tile adds a fun and exciting pop of color without stealing attention from any of the other pieces. To further maintain the warmth, they chose a rich walnut flooring with bold grain patterns.
When the homeowners fell in love with some contemporary brass colored light fixtures, they were nervous that they would compete with their stainless steel appliances and other silver toned pieces. By keeping all the lights in the same color family, we were able to achieve a look that feels intentional and modern. The corner 3-light pendant adds light and interest to the space. Not wanting to take up wall cabinet space with a bulky microwave, they opted for one built into a base cabinet. The other small appliances are neatly hidden away behind custom appliance garages.
For the fireplace, we focused on a clean, bright look that would stand out and look beautiful without competing with the neighboring kitchen. A small powder bathroom was also reorganized to better utilize the potential storage space and add counter space for guests. The style of the kitchen cabinetry was incorporated into the bathroom as well as into the dining room, which featured glass front cabinets to display dishes and mementos.
The redesigned space resulted in a warm and beautiful kitchen and dining area that will be enjoyed for years to come. The main floor living space now feels as cohesive as it was always meant to.

There’s nothing as wonderful as walking into a mid-century gem with clients who love the character of their new home. Our goal for this project was to incorporate the mid-century bones of this home into a new design that would better meet the contemporary needs of our clients. We started by taking down the walls that had separated this kitchen from the rest of the home and creating a welcoming space that blended seamlessly with the new open concept. The new kitchen design was a win for our clients with increased storage, more work surfaces, and a peninsula with plenty of seating. We utilized wood finishes through out this space with light wood flooring, medium-tones on the cabinetry, and darker wood accents throughout giving us a beautiful balance and a calm backdrop. This home had beautiful horizontal lines that we wanted to accentuate, so we selected a dark wood finish for the central beam and tied it in with the dark finish on the wood fireplace mantel and the stair handrail to emphasize the horizontal features. But we never miss an opportunity for a fun mid-century pop, and this home provided plenty of inspiration! The boomerang hardware on the cabinets and escher backsplash tiles give us great geometric elements to break up the clean lines of the rest of the space. One of our favorite features of this home was the original plaster ceilings with the custom hand troweled texture. We knew from the beginning that this was an element we wanted to maintain and accentuate, so when we opened up the kitchen and added recessed lighting we reached out to a local plaster artisan to carry the texture throughout the space, and we couldn’t be happier with the results. This design brings together the mid-century aesthetics of clean lines and fun patterns with the modern-day functionality our clients were looking for in their new kitchen.

Project Scope:
Transform a little-used room in the client’s lower level into an entertainment center, featuring a 1,500-bottle refrigerated wine cabinet, a wet bar, a custom-made bookshelves surround for existing hearth, and television hanging built-ins.
Challenges:
Primary technical challenge was to find a way to unobtrusively install a large “split system” chilling unit to service the wine cooler.
Solutions
The contractor started with a rectangular space that was appreciably stripped down, except for the fireplace at the far end. An adjacent room housed a professional pool table.
The client’s primary concern was how to situate the custom-built wine rack were to specify and fabricate. Although there was plenty of space in niche to the left of the stairway, there was no obvious way to locate the wine rack’s chilling unit for ducting and chiller unit.
Both client and contractor agreed that the logical setting for the rack would be along the short wall adjacent to the room’s entrance. But the short wall afforded no room for the chiller, a “split system” unit that needed adequate “breathing room” to avoid overheating
After many design sketches, the contractor had a tentative solution: house the chilling unit in a utility room behind the stairs leading to the basement. This would keep the unit out of sight and muffle the sound of the compressor.
Then question was how to “circumnavigate” the stairwell and run plumbing lines from the utility room – which was about 20 feet away — to the rack. A floor-level path would be exposed to possible damage and aesthetically unpleasing. Installing the line in the concrete slab flooring would be difficult and expensive – and any repairs to the line would mean tearing up the floor. The only alternative, the contractor suggested, would be to route the lines overhead – run them straight up from the chilling unit, over the joists above, and around the back of the stair case. Once past the staircase, it was straight shot above the joists to the short wall; the lines would then run behind the wall to the wine cooler resting on the floor.
This highly creative solution pleased the client greatly: it not only isolated the chilling unit, but allowed it to be easily serviced; the lines were protected and out of sight; and the wine rack – situated as it was in the room – seemed like it was part of the original house design.
At that point, the contractor needed a wine rack design that seemed equally “original” to the home – and here, too, the challenge was met. Custom-built cabinetry span the length of the wall, with two floor-level cabinets flanking the wine cooler. Above, twin glass-facing walnut displays – lighted and rising nearly to the ceiling – rest on a black marble countertop, showcasing the client’s impressive wine collection.
On the long wall perpendicular to the rack, a widescreen television hangs between two built-in bookcases designed by the contractor. The firm also fabricated the two bookcases now flanking the original fireplace in the far end wall – as well as the glass-faced hanging cabinets which are lighted above the newly installed wet bar.

The fun-loving couple that owns this home loves color. These two bathrooms speak to their need for bright color and the unexpected. Large format matte yellow tile was utilized in the master backsplash with the new vanity and mirror to allow them to start their day off in an upbeat mood. The turquoise vanity and highly textured embordered wallpaper in the powder room welcomes their guest with a lot of personality.

We were excited to take on this full home remodel with our Arvada clients! They have been living in their home for years, and were ready to delve into some major construction to make their home a perfect fit. This home had a lot of its original 1970s features, and we were able to work together to make updates throughout their home to make it fit their more modern tastes. We started by lowering their raised living room to make it level with the rest of their first floor; this not only removed a major tripping hazard, but also gave them a lot more flexibility when it came to placing furniture. To make their newly leveled first floor feel more cohesive we also replaced their mixed flooring with a gorgeous engineered wood flooring throughout the whole first floor. But the second floor wasn’t left out, we also updated their carpet with a subtle patterned grey beauty that tied in with the colors we utilized on the first floor. New taller baseboards throughout their entire home also helped to unify the spaces and brought the update full circle. One of the most dramatic changes we made was to take down all of the original wood railings and replace them custom steel railings. Our goal was to design a staircase that felt lighter and created less of a visual barrier between spaces. We painted the existing stringer a crisp white, and to balance out the cool steel finish, we opted for a wooden handrail. We also replaced the original carpet wrapped steps with dark wooden steps that coordinate with the finish of the handrail. Lighting has a major impact on how we feel about the space we’re in, and we took on this home’s lighting problems head on. By adding recessed lighting to the family room, and replacing all of the light fixtures on the first floor we were able to create more even lighting throughout their home as well as add in a few fun accents in the dining room and stairwell. To update the fireplace in the family room we replaced the original mantel with a dark solid wood beam to clean up the lines of the fireplace. We also replaced the original mirrored gold doors with a more contemporary dark steel finished to help them blend in better. The clients also wanted to tackle their powder room, and already had a beautiful new vanity selected, so we were able to design the rest of the space around it. Our favorite touch was the new accent tile installed from floor to ceiling behind the vanity adding a touch of texture and a clear focal point to the space. Little changes like replacing all of their door hardware, removing the popcorn ceiling, painting the walls, and updating the wet bar by painting the cabinets and installing a new quartz counter went a long way towards making this home a perfect fit for our clients

For those interested in refreshing their space, Staging Beautifully can assist a homeowner in decorating their home with the items they already own and love. Like staging, redesign may include color selection, rearranging furniture, hanging art and placing accessories. It is a cost effective design alternative which will give your home a facelift without the cost of an Interior Designer. Utilizing your furnishings and treasures, we will shop your home to find new and creative ways to display your family’s possessions. This will result in a complete interior transformation which will reflect your personality, style, comfort and functionality to your living space without having to buy anything.
Looking to sell your home, consider home staging to target a higher selling price. Home Staging aims to de-personalize your home and make it appealing to virtually all prospective buyers. The way you live in your home and the way you market your home are two very different things. Your home is competing with every other home on the market. A home that looks like it needs work or isn't move-in ready prompts buyers to low-ball their offers, or eliminate your home from consideration all together. Those homes that are staged to reflect current trends attract and appeal to more buyers, resulting in more offers, faster sales, and higher sale prices. Sometimes, an agent may even recommend your price be increased once your home is staged! A well-staged home can even start a bidding war with multiple offers!

Elburn, IL three season sunroom, completed 2021. These homeowners had a simple set of steps off the back of the home. They wanted to better utilize the open back door by adding on a sunroom addition. We started with digging the trench for the foundation. The trench has to be quite deep in order to support the framing for this custom build sunroom. Next to the sunroom, we built out a concrete patio for entertaining.

This bathroom was constructed from start to finish in an area of the the client’s basement that was not prepped for a 3-piece bathroom, so a lot of concrete floor cutting was involved. The client merely said, “I like grays and blacks,” and that was it! He trusted our judgement and asked for us to surprise him. After a meeting with our interior designer at Beaver Tile, a really unique and beautiful tile arrangement came together utilizing ceramic and porcelain tiles. With the beautiful tile “mural” on the main shower wall, the dual Delta shower heads, a corner seat, and clear glass slider doors with brushed nickel framing, our client was thrilled with the final shower design. Continuing to weave blacks and grays through the rest of the bathroom, 12”x24” ceramic and porcelain tiles were laid into the floor in a brick pattern, and a counter top of “steel gray” granite was installed on top of the white shaker vanity. The Delta brushed nickel fixtures added the final touch of coordinated color to the bathroom.
And next year? The client would like us to do his Master Bathroom and Kitchen! Photos of the final product will be added here as soon as we have them.

Believe it or not this beautifully renovated bathroom started out as a cramped, outdated bathroom with a single vanity and tiny shower. An adjoining bedroom was added to the space to enlarge the bathroom as well as add a much needed walk in closet. The client was looking for a farmhouse feel so shiplap was utilized as well as vintage feel lighting and accessories. Black and white floor tile was used to add interest and a free standing tub for much needed relaxation!
