This large basement wine cellar is conveniently located behind the entertainment room bar. The lighting is on dimmers that can be adjusted for mood lighting or inventory lighting. The glass door welcomes visitors into the custom wine cellar that was designed to house over 1700 bottles of all sizes. The climate controlled room, individual bottle bins, open bottle bins, and wine case storage gives the homeowner the flexibility needed to store their collection of wines. Taking basements to a whole new level! This wonderful bar area offers excellent storage and beautiful display areas. Measuring over 13 feet long, the custom Décor cabinetry was designed for the client’s needs and color palette. Including 104” long floating shelves and custom sized wine storage, the Talora cabinetry from Décor offers everything the homeowners could dream of. Stunning Cambria countertops in the Fairbourne color pair perfectly with the whole living space. The dramatic accent color on the wall is repeated with the Blanco Ikon apron front sink, in Café Brown. The oil rubbed bronze knobs and cup pulls continue this theme, as well as the stemware holders from Amerock. The end result is a perfect space for entertaining!

The pantry area was re-thought and rendered in stainless steel door fronts to visually unify this area. The island details were simplified — newel posts were removed and cookbook storage added at either end. A display area with floating shelves and a stainless steel backdrop was added for stemware and to function as an entertainment side bar.

This client loves to entertain, and wanted a new SubZero Refrigerator. In or to do so, we removed the old Fridge which was located next to the double oven, and removed the lower and upper cabinet to the left. We extended the soffit to create the built in look and added a beautiful cabinet with glass for her display of her stemware, and other important china pieces. The far side door leads to a separate grill cooking room where she does the majority of her cooking, also outfitted with a small sink and microwave. Linda Jaramillo

The Clients: two passionate chefs. The Commission: to help them design the perfect Kitchen in which to prepare myriad delectable dishes that they love to plan and execute. The Main Requirements: enough storage to accommodate countless spices, cooking equipment and implements; lots of natural light; and a traditionally detailed, but not overdone design. We nearly doubled the size of the original galley kitchen by pushing out toward the backyard; laid out the appliances so as to maximize efficiency and work surface area; and designed custom built pull-outs for spice jars, and storage for special cookware, small appliances, cutlery and utensils. The inspiration for the cabinetry design was the Clients’ impeccable selections of appliances and finishes, and their request for tasteful, simple detailing. The focal point, the heart of this Kitchen, is the beautiful porcelain French stove and custom-designed hood cover. Leaded glass panels in the coffered ceiling add charm and hide roof skylights included in the design to maximize natural light. The large island with porcelain farm sink offers the Clients ample work surface as well as informal seating and storage. A desk / hutch cabinet provides a “central control station” for the family’s activities, as well as display for the Clients’ formal dishes and stemware. Other improvements included a much-needed Walk-In Pantry achieved by enclosing an existing side porch, and enhanced flow between the Kitchen and Family Room. We accomplished this by removing an existing column and beam which previously blocked the physical and visual connection between the two spaces. We are delighted with the transformation of the original little galley into our Clients’ dream Kitchen … and our Clients are thrilled that their new Kitchen has cut in half their time spent in epic cooking sessions on the weekends!

Inspiration for a timeless kitchen remodel in Chicago

Beauty. Storage. Great design. This kitchen has it all. Let's start with the island. Highly functional, it contains a Spice Drawer Organizer and Wine Cabinet complete with a scalloped Wine Rack and a Stemware Rack. Cabinets on each side add storage space as well as usable counter space on top. The kitchen also features ample space to store and display china and serving dishes. A Wall Plate Rack is a great way to show off the pattern on your dishes. Plus, it makes it easy to put away clean dishes and set the table. Drawers under the Wall Plate Rack are a great place to store items like placemats, napkins and decorative table accents. Wall Cabinets with glass doors complete with inset lighting create a hutch-like effect, which makes the kitchen feel at once more upscale and homey. We've also added plenty of smart storage features. Next to the stove, a narrow Single Door Base Cabinet without shelves is an ideal place to store baking sheets and cutting boards. Two Utility Cabinets near the sink and dishwasher provide ample storage for everything from canned goods to baking supplies.

This project has two tiers of wine cellar space for entertaining and enjoyment. The wine room, which houses the collection, has a tall ceiling height allowing for an arched barrel ceiling and use of a rolling library ladder for easy access to bottles stored in upper rows. Steps away, the tasting room includes ample room for stemware, decanters, dishwasher and beverage fridge. Mahogany wine racking, millwork, stone work and the decorative arched door create an inviting environment.
