This large space did not function well for this family of 6. The cabinetry they had did not go to the ceiling and offered very poor storage options. The island that existed was tiny in comparrison to the space. By taking the cabinets to the ceiling, enlarging the island and adding large pantry's we were able to achieve the storage needed. Then the fun began, all of the decorative details that make this space so stunning. Beautiful tile for the backsplash and a custom metal hood. Lighting and hardware to complement the hood. Then, the vintage runner and natural wood elements to make the space feel more homey.

Whether you realized the shortcomings of your space or simply wanted to combat boredom, a well-designed and functional home was no longer a want, it became a need. Tina found herself wanting more from her Old Irving Park home and reached out to The Kitchen Studio about adding function to her kitchen to make the most of the available real estate. At the end of the day, there is nothing better than returning home to a bright and happy space you love. And this kitchen wasn’t that for Tina. Dark and dated, with a palette from the past and features that didn’t make the most of the available square footage, this remodel required vision and a fresh approach to the space. Lead designer, Stephanie Cole’s main design goal was better flow, while adding greater functionality with organized storage, accessible open shelving, and an overall sense of cohesion with the adjoining family room. The original kitchen featured a large pizza oven, which was rarely used, yet its footprint limited storage space. The nearby pantry had become a catch-all, lacking the organization needed in the home. The initial plan was to keep the pizza oven, but eventually Tina realized she preferred the design possibilities that came from removing this cumbersome feature, with the goal of adding function throughout the upgraded and elevated space. Eliminating the pantry added square footage and length to the kitchen for greater function and more storage. This redesigned space reflects how she lives and uses her home, as well as her love for entertaining. The kitchen features a classic, clean, and timeless palette. White cabinetry, with brass and bronze finishes, contrasts with rich wood flooring, and lets the large, deep blue island in Woodland’s custom color Harbor – a neutral, yet statement color – draw your eye. The kitchen was the main priority. In addition to updating and elevating this space, Tina wanted to maximize what her home had to offer. From moving the location of the patio door and eliminating a window to removing an existing closet in the mudroom and the cluttered pantry, the kitchen footprint grew. Once the floorplan was set, it was time to bring cohesion to her home, creating connection between the kitchen and surrounding spaces. The color palette carries into the mudroom, where we added beautiful new cabinetry, practical bench seating, and accessible hooks, perfect for guests and everyday living. The nearby bar continues the aesthetic, with stunning Carrara marble subway tile, hints of brass and bronze, and a design that further captures the vibe of the kitchen. Every home has its unique design challenges. But with a fresh perspective and a bit of creativity, there is always a way to give the client exactly what they want [and need]. In this particular kitchen, the existing soffits and high slanted ceilings added a layer of complexity to the lighting layout and upper perimeter cabinets. While a space needs to look good, it also needs to function well. This meant making the most of the height of the room and accounting for the varied ceiling features, while also giving Tina everything she wanted and more. Pendants and task lighting paired with an abundance of natural light amplify the bright aesthetic. The cabinetry layout and design compliments the soffits with subtle profile details that bring everything together. The tile selections add visual interest, drawing the eye to the focal area above the range. Glass-doored cabinets further customize the space and give the illusion of even more height within the room. While her family may be grown and out of the house, Tina was focused on adding function without sacrificing a stunning aesthetic and dreamy finishes that make the kitchen the gathering place of any home. It was time to love her kitchen again, and if you’re wondering what she loves most, it’s the niche with glass door cabinetry and open shelving for display paired with the marble mosaic backsplash over the range and complimenting hood. Each of these features is a stunning point of interest within the kitchen – both brag-worthy additions to a perimeter layout that previously felt limited and lacking. Our clients wanted to stay true to the style of this 1930's home with their kitchen renovation. Changing the footprint of the kitchen to include smaller rooms, we were able to provide this family their dream kitchen with all of the modern conveniences like a walk in pantry, a large seating island, custom cabinetry and appliances. This beautiful custom wine cellar / wine wall / wine room in San Juan Capistrano, Orange County, California is truly a jaw dropper. Vintage Cellars, wine cellar builders out of san diego, california, were able to design and build this masterpiece as a major centerpoint of this dining room and kitchen. A custom wine cellar designed and built by vintage wine cellars out of San Diego, California - this custom wine wall has tons of unique and noteworthy features throughout. The bottom of the cellar begins with multiple areas for wine case storage and other bulk storage options. The great thing about this space is that it was designed for multi-use capability, leaving ample room to store multiple layers deep of single bottle storage as well. Directly above the case storage lie multiple layers of easy pull out shelving on smooth rolling tracks, seamlessly allowing for drawer sliding with no risk of bottle movement or abrupt stops. These are fantastic features to have, especially in the case of having flights of wines from your favorite wineries. A collection of 2010 through 2016 Larkmeade Cabernet Sauvignon bottles from Napa have never looked so good. In the center, a small countertop and opening are used for a practical space to open and decant wines. Glass shelving features and acrylic wine racking dividers make for a fun, transparent, and sleek looking centerpiece. On either side of this wine wall feature / kitchen wine cellar are long rows of high reveal display of wine bottles, carefully designed and engineered to lay down properly so that the cork will stay wet and wines are aged perfectly and gracefully over time. These display rows act as fantastic "show off" sections - perfectly highlighting each bottle's respective label and giving you the ability to really display your gems. More sections sit above these displays, turning the bottles inward and facing them cork out. In this certain circumstance and with this specific client's collection, these sections really popped with color and intrigue with many cases of the same wines being placed into the racking. Intense hues of Red and Yellow POP, keeping this wine cellar interesting and a pleasure to look at no matter what section you're exploring. Horizontal stainless steel metal rods are Integrated into the custom cabinetry horizontally and angled across each multiple sections, again offering another unique and different design feature, now with wine bottle labels facing outward and completely visible. Seeking to customize her storage options in her home office while being sensitive to the focal point of the desk wall from her main living area, this client chose a striking and light desk made to fit perfectly in her space. With the help of Jayne Bunce Interiors who designed the desk and pulled the entire room together, we engineered the cabinets with Premier Custom-Built Cabinets for a unique, functional and beautiful design solution for our client. This kitchen and main floor remodeling project was performed on a 1988 home in Lake Oswego, OR. The client wanted to transform the space by opening it up, adding a modern kitchen and bar area as well as new flooring, trim and paint throughout the main floor area. Our design team removed unnecessary walls, and relocated the plumbing and HVAC creating an open and inviting space between the dining room and kitchen. We also installed custom cabinets throughout with multiple upgraded storage options, new lighting and paint colors creating a well lit environment. The project included; -Removing walls and relocating plumbing and HVAC/Plumbing to open up the space -Newly designed kitchen including all new custom cabinets/storage, a custom island, quartz countertops, new appliances and fixtures -New lighting throughout -Newly bar area to match the new kitchen which includes a liquor cabinet, quartz countertops, custom storage options, 2nd (pullout) freezer, and wine fridge -New flooring, trim and paint on main floor/kitchen area

Giving a nod to mid-century modern styling, we created a kitchen that is both simple and refined - with just a touch of detail. The beveled inner profile of the Nova door gives it distinction, while affording the client an easy cleanability. The vaulted ceiling, with skylight and large window demand a generous volume of cabinetry to be of proper proportion. A variety of island storage options (various depth pan and utensil drawers, a pullout pantry for oils and condiments, tray storage), plus a multi-purpose pantry cabinet, and a matching desk unit provide a wealth of storage options and unify the space. With the generous island, complete with cooktop and prep sink, the kitchen is perfect for this gourmet cook to entertain their guests. The client wanted a non-traditional top trim which would add both height and a broad horizontal line; we used a 7” high panel with applied bevel molding top and bottom. A bevel molding was also applied to the light valance: these bevel compliment the aesthetic module of the Nova door. The architect requested a large valance to house the electric window blind. The valance also incorporates light sconces which shine on the counter from a reasonable distance as the ceiling was so high; this was achieved using a matching Nova wainscot panel. The architect also wanted matching end panels on the island, yet the island cabinets did not match because they were different depths. On one side we provided 15” deep drawers and 15” wide side panel; on the opposite side we had a 24” deep pullout pantry with 15” wide side panel pulled to the front - so the question was, what to do with the 9” wide blank area? The solution: we had a 15” wide cabinet made with a 24” wide door that overlapped the blank area. By using touch latch hinges, it looks like a fixed panel flanked by two 15” panels. It’s amazing what Wood-Mode will make.
