This primary bathroom remodel blends modern functionality with clean, timeless design. A spacious walk-in shower with frameless glass enclosure creates an open feel, complemented by white textured wall tile and dark floor tile for contrast.
The custom double vanity features soft gray cabinetry, quartz countertops, and matte black fixtures, adding a refined and contemporary touch. Built-in storage and a window bench provide both practicality and visual interest.
A recessed shower niche with stone shelving enhances usability while maintaining a streamlined look. The combination of light walls, dark flooring, and layered textures creates a balanced and inviting space designed for everyday comfort.

Welcome to a coastal contemporary kitchen that effortlessly combines natural textures with luxurious finishes to create a serene culinary retreat. At the heart of this kitchen stands a custom plaster range hood, whose smooth contours and soft color anchor the space with a touch of artisan craftsmanship. Beneath it, the kitchen boasts an expanse of quartzite countertops that shimmer with subtle veining, offering durability and a splash of sophistication.
The handmade tile backsplash introduces a delicate, tactile element to the design, reflecting the light and adding depth with its intricate pattern and natural hues. This detail is complemented by the robust wooden cabinetry, which provides abundant storage while maintaining a streamlined, uncluttered aesthetic.
Seating is stylish yet functional with leather stools that line the island—perfect for casual dining or morning coffee. These stools not only provide comfort but also add a layer of richness to the space with their textured leather, harmonizing with the natural elements throughout the kitchen.
This space is not just a kitchen; it's a celebration of textures and materials brought together to create a warm, inviting environment where cooking is a pleasure and style is inherent in every detail.

This bathroom remodeling project transformed an outdated and impractical space into a sophisticated and contemporary primary bathroom. By removing the existing tub and closing off one of the two entry points, we streamlined the layout, making the bathroom exclusive to the primary bedroom.
The newly designed walk-in shower features a shower pan with 2-inch round mosaic Shoji White Matte tiles and a linear tile-in drain, creating a clean look. The shower walls are adorned with 2.5x10 matte Kumo Grey subway tiles, arranged in a unique vertical stack lines pattern with linear accents, adding a touch of artistic flair. The shower is open, featuring a custom frameless glass panel with brass hardware, which enhances the spacious and airy feel.
The vanity is a contemporary yet timeless Sonoma Solid Teak piece, measuring 60 inches wide by 22 inches deep. The vanity wall ties the design together with a matching backsplash made from the same shower wall tiles. A mirror flanked by two sconce lights and wall-mounted faucets in brass finish complete the elegant look.
All plumbing fixtures and hardware are in a brass finish, complementing the Spanish contemporary design that exudes sophistication, warmth, and artistic vibes. This remodel not only modernized the bathroom but also created a cohesive and luxurious space that feels both inviting and stylish.

Barndominiums beautifully blend rustic charm with modern comfort. Take this 3-bedroom gem, for example. Step onto the welcoming porch and enter an open layout encompassing dining, kitchen, and living areas, perfect for both relaxation and entertainment. Discover a rear porch accessible from the mudroom, providing a tranquil retreat. Inside, the master bedroom offers a closet and attached bath for ultimate relaxation. Additional bedrooms feature their own closets, ensuring ample storage. With a common bath and convenient laundry area, daily routines are streamlined. This Barndominium creates an inviting sanctuary for all to enjoy.

Designed to seamlessly blend rustic warmth with modern sophistication, this custom TV accent wall is the perfect fusion of the homeowners' distinct styles. After presenting multiple design concepts, this winning vision maintains harmony within the open-concept home.
To ensure a cohesive flow, I carried through the cabinet and island tones from the kitchen and dry bar. The floating flat-panel cabinetry along the bottom provides functional storage while keeping the design sleek and streamlined. Wood paneling strips and floating shelves add depth and character, with ambient and accent lighting for a warm, inviting glow.
A reclaimed mushroom wood beam spans overhead, featuring upper lighting that naturally draws the eye up while introducing a touch of rustic charm. This same stunning material was also used to craft a large beam over the sliders, seamlessly connecting the kitchen and dry bar, as well as a statement foyer entry beam, enhancing the home’s architectural flow.
For a dramatic yet refined effect, the back wall is painted Urbane Bronze, allowing the rich wood tones and lighting to take center stage. When the 85" TV is off, it blends effortlessly into the dark backdrop rather than dominating the space.
To complete the design, I selected a large woven natural light fixture, adding another layer of texture and organic beauty. The result is a one-of-a-kind feature wall that is both visually striking and effortlessly integrated into the home’s overall aesthetic.

Set in a quiet neighborhood and framed by mature trees, this residence presented a unique opportunity: to thoughtfully evolve a custom mid-century modern home into a space that supports the everyday rhythms of a growing family. With a deep respect for the home’s original architecture, Klopf Architecture reimagined the house to better meet the needs of its owners—introducing functional improvements while preserving the spirit and character of its mid-century roots.
The clients approached Klopf Architecture with a clear vision: refresh their home while seamlessly integrating new programmatic elements. Key goals included clarifying and enhancing the entry sequence; connecting the detached garage to the main house with a practical yet architecturally intentional intervention; adding functional spaces such as a mudroom and laundry room; expanding and remodeling the primary suite’s bathroom and closet; and creating a more engaging outdoor space that capitalized on the site’s impressive views, featuring a fire pit and outdoor kitchen.
As a couple with distinct yet complementary perspectives—one focused on modern functionality and technology, and the other dedicated to preserving the home’s architectural integrity—their collaboration with Klopf Architecture resulted in a solution that harmonized both ideals. Their shared commitment to improving the livability of their home led to a design dialogue rooted in balance. This dynamic partnership shaped the direction of the renovation, ensuring that every decision honored the spirit of the original home while aligning with the practical needs of their growing family.
Designing within the constraints of the sloped site posed one of the project’s central challenges. The detached garage sat at a higher elevation than the main house, requiring a solution that ensured architectural and geometric compatibility between the two structures. Rather than create a purely utilitarian link, Klopf Architecture introduced an intentional connection that contributes to the overall architectural language. A notable pinch point in the plan—where differing geometries converged—was treated as a hinge point, turning a potentially awkward juncture into an architectural feature. This area now functions as both a transition and a moment of design interest that unifies the overall plan.
The design also addressed the underutilized outdoor area, which was located in a shadowed portion of the site with geometrical limitations. A new connection to the rear deck was created in this same area, making the outdoor space more useful and inviting. Klopf Architecture introduced carefully positioned openings and spatial improvements that forged a strong visual and functional connection between indoor and outdoor spaces. The outdoor area now reads as a deliberate extension of the home, embracing natural light and emphasizing the dramatic views.
Working through multiple design iterations, Klopf Architecture crafted a solution that preserved the architectural language of the original home while supporting the functional needs of modern life. The garage-to-house connection became more than a passage—it evolved into an architectural moment of transition. A new mudroom and laundry space enhanced convenience without compromising the clean lines of the design. The primary suite was expanded to create a private, serene retreat. The reimagined backyard, complete with fire pit and kitchen, now plays a vital role in the family’s daily routine and social life.
Outcomes and Lasting Impact
The result is a home that balances heritage with contemporary design, technical precision with design sensibility. The redesign not only met the clients’ initial goals but also exceeded expectations in its ability to seamlessly blend past and present, function and beauty, making the outdoor kitchen a favorite gathering place.
Beyond aesthetics, the renovation has significantly improved daily life for the family. The newly integrated garage connection has streamlined routines, providing a seamless transition between arriving home, storing belongings, and entering the main living spaces. The expanded primary suite offers a retreat-like atmosphere, creating a private space to unwind at the end of the day. The redesigned outdoor areas have also become an extension of their lifestyle—whether it's casual family dinners around the fire pit, entertaining friends in the outdoor kitchen, or simply enjoying the view from the reimagined backyard.
Through a thoughtful and strategic approach, the house has been successfully evolved into a home that remains true to its mid-century modern roots while enhancing livability, functionality, and the overall quality of life for the modern-day owners.

Previously, this yard was burdened by a typical boulder pile pool, that was heaped higher than typical, trying to hide the towering wall behind. At first, the clients sought merely to reconfigure the BBQ that was congesting the patio, but upon further analysis, they decided it was time to strip the entire yard, leaving only the pool shell. Bianchi’s solution introduced an array of four arbors to distract the eye from the wall behind, solving what the boulder waterfall could never do.
Additionally, the wall was painted a dark earth tone to add contrast and depth. This strategy enabled the wall to recede into the distance, while the agave blue grey arbors floated forward visually from the background. Previously, the patios were a hodgepodge of deck islands that were impossible to navigate, and were of insufficient size to arrange furniture on. A well organized patio streamlined the traffic flow and the living space, featuring a cast in place concrete fire pit and banco couch, as well as a new outdoor bistro, glowing with filtered light from the canvas shade sails overhead.
A turquoise glass overflow spa became the yards focal point, sharing the space between the pool and outdoor living. The striking symmetry of the spa and pot pedestal with regal cacti arrangement behind, flanked by the arbors on either side, created a stately first impression from the front door. This teaser was just a glimpse of what could not yet be seen serving as an invitation to explore and enjoy as the yard unfolds.

Designed by Lauren Hunt of Reico Kitchen & Bath in Charlotte, NC, in collaboration with The Atta Group, this mid-century/transitional kitchen & bar features Merillat Masterpiece cabinets in the Levan shaker door style with a Rainfall finish. Kitchen countertops are Hanstone Strato, complemented by a Bally Butcherblock bar countertop in teak.
“The clients were a dream to work with! We have similar design taste, so it made for a really effortless and smooth design process!” said Hunt.
“Their original kitchen was much smaller, so much of our discussion was centered on making the new space they had functional and efficient. We used quite a few pullouts and drawer accessories to help keep their storage space organized.”
“I was thrilled that they’ve broke away from the whites and gray painted cabinets we’ve been seeing by selecting Masterpiece’s Rainfall paint and incorporating some warmer finishes. I’m really happy with the finished product – we were able to create a design that is sleek and streamlined while still being warm and inviting!”
