Adirondacks Style
We have done a fair amount of Adirondacks style furniture and kitchens over the years.
We usually do a more primitive style cabinet. The design additions are usually willow twigging, birch bark, horn hardware and funky paint colors and paint combos.
We make and paint the cabinets in our shop and we do simple twig, bark and horn work. I have Adirondacks artists friends that I can call upon to do the more involved work shown in these photos if that is what you would like.

During the planning phase we undertook a fairly major Value Engineering of the design to ensure that the project would be completed within the clients budget. The client identified a ‘Fords Garage’ style that they wanted to incorporate. They wanted an open, industrial feel, however, we wanted to ensure that the property felt more like a welcoming, home environment; not a commercial space. A Fords Garage typically has exposed beams, ductwork, lighting, conduits, etc. But this extent of an Industrial style is not ‘homely’. So we incorporated tongue and groove ceilings with beams, concrete colored tiled floors, and industrial style lighting fixtures.
During construction the client designed the courtyard, which involved a large permit revision and we went through the full planning process to add that scope of work.
The finished project is a gorgeous blend of industrial and contemporary home style.

Landscape by Stonepocket located in Minnetonka, Minnesota Creating a elegant landscape to blend with a home with such character and charm was a challenge in controlled resistant. Did not want the landscape to overwhelm the home, nor did I want a typical landscape for this style that usually involves a box hedge. Utilizing light in the front to create a perennial garden give the home a sense of place. Keep the planting mostly to whites and greens in the back unifies the space.

This home renovation involved removing several walls and completely reconfiguring the kitchen layout to provide the family with the open concept floor plan they desired. The perimeter cabinetry is a Teaberry Maple finish with a contemporary flat panel door style. The island finish remains the same, but the simple raised panel door style and decorative base molding complement elements of the furniture pieces throughout the home. All of the cabinetry is provided by Decora. There are new appliances throughout including an undercounter beverage cooler, microwave, dishwasher, GE Profile refrigerator, and Frigidaire range.

One of our recent projects involved a 1000 SF (2 bed, 1 bath) condominium in historic Salem Massachusetts.
This project involved a full renovation - new kitchen cabinets with quartz countertops and smoke gray backsplash, a modern farmhouse style bathroom, in-unit washer and dryer, new flooring. We also modernized the brick fireplace by using white caulk paint and used accent walls to bring some contrast into the living room and dining areas.
Since we couldn't design a traditional kitchen island due to the way space was distributed, we decided to create a new butcher block wood island top with built in USB outlets, to simulate a a coffee shop type of vibe - perfect for those working from home or for entertaining guests.

A very rare opportunity presents itself in the offering of this Mill Valley estate covering 1.86 acres in the Redwoods. The property, formerly known as the Swiss Hiking Club lodge, has now been transformed. It has been exquisitely remodeled throughout, down to the very last detail. The property consists of five buildings: The Main House; the Cottage/Office; a Studio/Office; a Chalet Guest House; and an Accessory, two-room building for food and glassware storage. There are also two double-car garages. Nestled amongst the redwoods this elevated property offers privacy and serves as a sanctuary for friends and family. The old world charm of the entire estate combines with luxurious modern comforts to create a peaceful and relaxed atmosphere. The property contains the perfect combination of inside and outside spaces with gardens, sunny lawns, a fire pit, and wraparound decks on the Main House complete with a redwood hot tub. After you ride up the state of the art tram from the street and enter the front door you are struck by the voluminous ceilings and spacious floor plans which offer relaxing and impressive entertaining spaces. The impeccably renovated estate has elegance and charm which creates a quality of life that stands apart in this lovely Mill Valley community. The Dipsea Stairs are easily accessed from the house affording a romantic walk to downtown Mill Valley. You can enjoy the myriad hiking and biking trails of Mt. Tamalpais literally from your doorstep.

One of the most prestigious projects we have supplied is the Martin House in Buffalo NY. Designed by Frank Lloyd Wright in 1904 it was the largest residential complex of his career and one of the most expensive.
Although the house had fallen in to disrepair and a number of the buildings demolished, the Darwin Martin House Corporation have over seen its re-birth and return to its former glory.
Northern became involved in 1994 and supplied tiles for the main house in 1996 and the Barton house a year later. Once the Pergola and Garage had been re-created we again supplied tiles, finishing out a 14 year involvement with the project. This is a true masterpiece of American design and heritage and you owe yourself a visit.

This kitchen was part of a whole home remodel we completed in Clearwater in 2017. This was a full design-build project, in which we re-designed the kitchen to make it more open. Part of that involved the removal of a load-bearing wall, which required some strategic planning, but the end result was worth it.

This project involved a complete room remodel. The existing fireplace brick was resurfaced with a dry stack ledgestone. Warm Maple plank hardwood replaced carpeting. Custom cabinetry on either side of the fireplace houses audio / visual equipment. New lighting, furnishings, area rug, raw silk window treatments, and accessories complete the look!
