What is an ADU: Accessory Dwelling Units: An accessory dwelling unit, usually just called an ADU, is a secondary housing unit on a single-family residential lot. This large sloped lot in Serrano was a new construction project and required low water demand planting with a new pool & backyard entertainment space for the family. To mitigate potential fire risks and maintenance on the rear slopes we installed a native "Mow Free" grass on the slopes which can be kept green with minimal water or not irrigated after getting established which would turn brown in the summer and green in the winter.

This Lincoln Park home was beautifully updated and completed with designer finishes to better suit the client’s aesthetic and highlight the space to its fullest potential. We focused on the gathering spaces to create a visually impactful and upscale design. We customized the built-ins and fireplace in the living room which catch your attention when entering the home. The downstairs was transformed into a movie room with a custom dry bar, updated lighting, and a gallery wall that boasts personality and style.

The primary bedroom suite in this mountain modern home is the picture of comfort and luxury. The striking wallpaper was selected to represent the textures of a rocky mountain's layers when it is split into. The earthy colors in the wallpaper--blue grays, rusts, tans and creams--make up the restful color scheme of the room. Textural bedding and upholstery fabrics add warmth and interest. Inspiration for a mid-sized transitional gender-neutral blue floor nursery remodel in San Francisco

The Wharton House is located in Berwyn, PA about 20 miles outside of Philadelphia. The surrounding neighborhood is diverse, with historical stone homes of modest size built by farmers when they cleared land, and grander Victorians built by robber barons. The dining room opens to the home’s foyer and living room, all with tall ceilings and substantial millwork, making it feel slightly formal. We connected the dining room to the living room and entry color palettes by going a little lighter and brighter. A long dining table was essential because our client’s extended family surrounds her on neighboring streets. The chair shape was an ode to the "farmhouse" but we wanted it to look more elevated so we used a pop of blue and leather seats. A standout wallpaper was a must, beautifully tying all the hues and textures together.

Just because this white kitchen is small it still packs a punch. This "U shaped" Kitchen doesn't have any room for mistakes. Using a farmhouse sink, garden window, and a drawer dishwasher we maximized the space to its fullest potential. When full-time Massachusetts residents contemplate building a second home in Telluride, Colorado the question immediately arises; does it make most sense to hire a regionally based Rocky Mountain architect or a sea level architect conveniently located for all of the rigorous collaboration required for successful bespoke home design. Determined to prove the latter true, Siemasko + Verbridge accompanied the potential client as they scoured the undulating Telluride landscape in search of the perfect house site. The selected site’s harmonious balance of untouched meadow rising up to meet the edge of an aspen grove and the opposing 180 degree view of Wilson’s Range spoke to everyone. A plateau just beyond a fork in the meadow provided a natural flatland, requiring little excavation and yet the right amount of upland slope to capture the views. The intrinsic character of the site was only enriched by an elk trail and snake-rail fence. Establishing the expanse of Wilson’s range would be best served by rejecting the notion of selected views, the central sweeping curve of the roof inverts a small saddle in the range with which it is perfectly aligned. The soaring wave of custom windows and the open floor plan make the relatively modest house feel sizable despite its footprint of just under 2,000 square feet. Officially a two bedroom home, the bunk room and loft allow the home to comfortably sleep ten, encouraging large gatherings of family and friends. The home is completely off the grid in response to the unique and fragile qualities of the landscape. Great care was taken to respect the regions vernacular through the use of mostly native materials and a palette derived from the terrain found at 9,820 feet above sea level. This creative transitional space was transformed from a very dated layout that did not function well for our homeowners - who enjoy cooking for both their family and friends. They found themselves cooking on a 30" by 36" tiny island in an area that had much more potential. A completely new floor plan was in order. An unnecessary hallway was removed to create additional space and a new traffic pattern. New doorways were created for access from the garage and to the laundry. Just a couple of highlights in this all Thermador appliance professional kitchen are the 10 ft island with two dishwashers (also note the heated tile area on the functional side of the island), double floor to ceiling pull-out pantries flanking the refrigerator, stylish soffited area at the range complete with burnished steel, niches and shelving for storage. Rustic built-in bunk beds incorporated into the design allow a cozy spot for dream and play while still retaining the original design aesthetic. Endcap shelving solves the inevitable need for space for books and toys. Rods give this art display a more substantial look than wires.
