Taking our cue from the beautiful, wooded-view, we transformed this corner-office into a peaceful, professional retreat. Being the office of Carrie, the owner and founder of Cedar, we wanted it to feel substantial. This beautiful main floor transformation included custom millwork with a mix of white and oak shaker style door fronts, brass handles and Blum soft close hardware. the countertops are Silestone quartz with mitered edges to give them a more substantial look and feel. Wolf appliance package, Timeless oak engineered hardwood floors throughout. All new baseboards, casings and crown moldings into the coffered ceiling living room space and new Benjamin Moore paint throughout the space along with lighting in the ceilings, cabinetry undercabinet task lighting, new pendants and fixtures added much needed brightness to the space.

The double sink vanity now “floated” off of the floor giving the perception of airiness and allowing for easy cleaning and under cabinet “night lights”. This required adding substantial blocking behind the wall to accommodate the weight load. Teak wood was used to build the custom cabinetry and streamlined faucets and bowls continue the simple lines of the piece. Floating shelving also flanks one side of the free standing tub creating space for storage and display without taking up floor space.

Well-traveled. Relaxed. Timeless. Our well-traveled clients were soon-to-be empty nesters when they approached us for help reimagining their Presidio Heights home. The expansive Spanish-Revival residence originally constructed in 1908 had been substantially renovated 8 year prior, but needed some adaptations to better suit the needs of a family with three college-bound teens. We evolved the space to be a bright, relaxed reflection of the family’s time together, revising the function and layout of the ground-floor rooms and filling them with casual, comfortable furnishings and artifacts collected abroad. One of the key changes we made to the space plan was to eliminate the formal dining room and transform an area off the kitchen into a casual gathering spot for our clients and their children. The expandable table and coffee/wine bar means the room can handle large dinner parties and small study sessions with similar ease. The family room was relocated from a lower level to be more central part of the main floor, encouraging more quality family time, and freeing up space for a spacious home gym. In the living room, lounge-worthy upholstery grounds the space, encouraging a relaxed and effortless West Coast vibe. Exposed wood beams recall the original Spanish-influence, but feel updated and fresh in a light wood stain. Throughout the entry and main floor, found artifacts punctate the softer textures — ceramics from New Mexico, religious sculpture from Asia and a quirky wall-mounted phone that belonged to our client’s grandmother.

This wonderful brown shingle Berkeley house was completely renovated. We allowed the exterior to remain discreet, at the request of the owners, by replacing the shingle siding, repairing all the windows and replacing the roof. The inside, on the other hand, gradually saw a radical transformation, with a back to bones start, a rework of the flow and room functions as well as a rediscovered link to the garden in the back. One essential feature of the rework, is a series of folding doors and windows that open the house up completely to the outdoors. In addition to the house, a tea house was brought back to life with its transformation into a Spa/guest room, together with a new concrete custom pool/Jacuzzi to replace an old acrylic one. The front and back yards will also witness a complete landscape rebirth, with the inclusion of fruit trees, in addition to an existing fig tree, a fish pond, new terracing and the careful planting of large granite boulders that will serve as bird baths and additional seating. An existing fence will be lined with Stainless steel cables to receive honeysuckle and espalier vines to adorn the garden with a mix of intoxicating aromas.

A closer perspective reveals the sturdy construction of this wooden gazebo, featuring substantial wooden posts that anchor a modern black metal roof. This structure is engineered to provide superior shade and protection, transforming an ordinary outdoor area into a refined leisure space. The thoughtful integration of natural materials with contemporary design elements ensures a sophisticated and durable addition.
