Living room - traditional living room idea in Los Angeles
Living room - traditional living room idea in Los Angeles

This home was a typical Toll Brothers contemporary from the early ‘90’s. The exterior had reached the end of its life, with decayed cedar siding and a deteriorated roof. Greg & Tamara decided to use this opportunity to radically remake their home - to update its modern appeal and set it apart from any other suburban tract house. Spring Creek Design created a new deck, new siding design, entryways and sculptural landscaping for the home.
Design Criteria:
- Replace siding and give the home a bold, modern look.
- Update the home’s landscaping with a spare modernism.
- Add a new deck with an outdoor kitchen.
Special Features:
- Bold new exterior features fiber-cement panels and siding.
-Three different colors are used to clearly define the shapes of the home.
- Cantilevered concrete entryways features “floating” concrete slab landings.
- Azek deck with tempered glass railings.
- Custom wine-bottle light fixtures adorn the outdoor kitchen.
- Massive planting boxes of Cor-Ten steel form the basis of a low-maintenance, dramatic landscape.
- Custom-fabricated square gutters and downspouts compliment the linearity of the home’s design.

Our clients' existing kitchen was too small and claustrophobic for the busy household. We decided to swap the locations of the kitchen and dining room and removed the wall that divided them, allowing for much better flow from one room to the other.
We also added more lighting and brighter finishes to give the space a clean and modern appearance. The tile backsplash adds texture and geometric patterns to draw in the eye.
The quartz surfaces, hardwood floors, and painted cabinets were installed with durability and resilience in mind.
The final product was a much better fit for the needs of the household. It also provided a significant investment into the overall value of their home.

A midcentury modern home in Denver got an exterior facelift by doing simple but impactful changes. The stone combined with the original paint looked washed out and dated, so a rich dark gray coat of paint on the siding helped provide a clean look to both materials. A custom privacy fence was added around the large front patio so the space could be utilized without the homeowners feeling like they were on display. The garage door was switched out for a wood modern style and original lighting were swapped for matte black gooseneck sconces.

Nearly every inch of this 1908 Ravenna home was upgraded, and the interior layout was re-envisioned. On the main floor, the kitchen and dining room locations were swapped to connect the kitchen to the living room. A spa-like bathroom was added upstairs to create an inviting new master suite, with heated floors, a double vanity, and a large shower. A spacious walk-in closet with a custom-designed organization system completes the luxurious appointments. The basement was dug down for increased head height, and a new laundry room, bedroom, and bonus room were added. All new mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems were installed, and the exterior was refreshed, with all new siding and rebuilt porches, including high-end composite decking and railings. The home is now an oasis, welcoming its owners and guests with gleaming new hardwood flooring, custom cabinetry and mill work, professional-grade appliances, layered lighting, and a gorgeous and warming soapstone fireplace surround.

Personal customized touches can make a house feel more like a home. At the request of the homeowner, we incorporated a built-in doll house at the end of the island for her daughter to play while she worked in the kitchen. Inside there are standard adjustable shelves so these doors could be swapped out in the future for general storage.

These clients win the award for ‘Most Jarrett Design Projects in One Home’! We consider ourselves extremely fortunate to have been able to work with these kind folks so consistently over the years.
The most recent project features their master bath, a room they have been wanting to tackle for many years. We think it was well worth the wait! It started off as an outdated space with an enormous platform tub open to the bedroom featuring a large round column. The open concept was inspired by island homes long ago, but it was time for some privacy. The water closet, shower and linen closet served the clients well, but the tub and vanities had to be updated with storage improvements desired. The clients also wanted to add organized spaces for clothing, shoes and handbags. Swapping the large tub for a dainty freestanding tub centered on the new window, cleared space for gorgeous his and hers vanities and armoires flanking the tub. The area where the old double vanity existed was transformed into personalized storage closets boasting beautiful custom mirrored doors. The bathroom floors and shower surround were replaced with classic white and grey materials. Handmade vessel sinks and faucets add a rich touch. Soft brass wire doors are the highlight of a freestanding custom armoire created to house handbags adding more convenient storage and beauty to the bedroom. Star sconces, bell jar fixture, wallpaper and window treatments selected by the homeowner with the help of the talented Lisa Abdalla Interiors provide the finishing traditional touches for this sanctuary.

This beautiful kitchen was transformed using existing cabinets and replacing the doors. The original kitchen was blonde oak. Doors were replaced and ends and surfaces veneered to create a beautiful kitchen. Only a couple of cabinets were actually replaced in full. The peninsula area had a raised area for seating and was cut down to create a more modern design. Now with the counter height all one height, the task area is also increased. Beautiful Caesar Stone countertop with a simple beveled white backsplash completes the look.

This Laguna Hills bathroom remodel involved a new layout with swapping the built-in shower and tub location. This required plumbing relocation as well.
