This space transformation was small but has inspired many! ?? This non-profit location which houses hundreds of women and children includes a chapel where they gather for church, prayer, meetings and more. The hallway/lobby leading up to it was dark, outdated and uninspiring. I was challenged with creating a welcoming and visually appealing space while excluding anything that could be damaged/detached. Growing up in the church, I’ve always had a spiritual admiration for stained glass windows. Historically, they’ve been used to help tell stories of the Bible. Also, the light that passes through stained glass windows is often seen as a symbol of the divine light of God. This light can represent many different things, such as hope, truth, love, and life. It’s also a symbol of Christ himself, as he is often referred to as the “Light of the World.” ✝️?? This inspired my vision to create a stained glass window effect in combination with the mission’s lantern logo and brand colors. It is a direct reflection of how their services continue to reach thousands and change their lives forever.??✨ We had the low wall demolished and space re-painted. The final touch will be a salvaged and refinished old church pew that will provide extra seating here for guests.

Why are cauldrons still represented today with Halloween and magic? The reason is that cauldrons are a symbolic shape and tool. They represent the energy of the Divine Feminine. The shape is round and nurturing and represents that good things come from within, symbolizing the womb within the woman, where life takes root and grows. The cauldron is similar to a chalice, (a round cup to gather energy), which is also a representation of the holy grail.

The two off-center vertical lines closely spaced together could represent a great number of things, but this particular interior door model was inspired by a musical symbol known as the double bar line, which either separates two different sections of music or is used before a change in key signature. In other words, it is a symbol of novelty, new beginnings, fresh outlooks, a new dawn. What more could one ask of one's interior doors? This interior door model is like the highly hopeful, utterly harmonious ending of Richard Wagner's Ring Cycle, or the breathtakingly festive sunrise portion of George Gershwin's Rhapsody in Blue. Bringing in the water element with the wood element is nurturing and leads to growth. The blue patina on the doors gives a feel of the oceans and seas that are more a part of the Mother Earth itself. The principles of the five elements are everywhere around us, we have to be open to their energies to learn from them.

This outdoor space combines modern sleekness with serene elegance. A calming foundation is created by flowing lines along the edges of the terrace, offering a playful contrast. The wall, finished with concrete plaster, serves as a quiet backdrop, allowing the greenery to stand out beautifully. Round, integrated wall lights with diffuse illumination enhance the harmony and echo the circular form of the striking moon arch. Small wall lights in the same hue as the moon arch create visual unity, with the moon arch at the center, symbolizing a positive transition—from lounging to dining. The planting is a refined mix of Chinese and Dutch native species, with eye-catching elements like a stately black pine, which forms a beautiful backdrop for the black Bubble Rock sofa by Living Divani. On the other side of the space, a step leads to a veranda, where bamboo in planters provides a subtle visual partition, acting as a boundary between indoors and outdoors. This unique space invites enjoyment and connection, with a perfect balance of sleek design, natural elements, and deeper symbolic meaning.

Inspiration for a modern home design remodel in Jacksonville

Recently, TaskRabbit challenged a group of 10 Taskers to build a Tiny House in the middle of Manhattan in just 72 hours – all for a good cause. Building a fully outfitted tiny house in 3 days was a tall order – a build like this often takes months – but we set out to prove the power of collaboration, showing the kind of progress that can be made when people come together, bringing their best insights, skills and creativity to achieve something that seems impossible. It was quite a week. New York was wonderful (and quite lovely, despite a bit of rain), our Taskers were incredible, and TaskRabbit’s Tiny House came together in record time, due to the planning, dedication and hard work of all involved. A Symbol for Change The TaskRabbit Tiny House was auctioned off with 100% of the proceeds going to our partner, Community Solutions, a national nonprofit helping communities take on complex social challenges – issues like homelessness, unemployment and health inequity – through collaboration and creative problem solving. This Tiny House was envisioned as a small symbol of the change that is possible when people have the right tools and opportunities to work together. Through our three-day build, our Taskers proved that amazing things can happen when we put our hearts into creating substantive change in our communities. The Winning Bid We’re proud to report that we were able to raise $26,600 to support Community Solutions’ work. Sarah, a lovely woman from New Hampshire, placed the winning bid – and it’s nice to know our tiny home is in good hands. #ATinyTask: Behind the Scenes The Plans A lot of time and effort went into making sure this Tiny Home was as efficient, cozy and welcoming as possible. Our master planners, designer Lesley Morphy and TaskRabbit Creative Director Scott Smith, maximized every square inch in the little house with comfort and style in mind, utilizing a lofted bed, lofted storage, a floor-to-ceiling tiled shower, a compost toilet, and custom details throughout. There’s a surprising amount of built-in storage in the kitchen, while a conscious decision was made to keep the living space open so you could actually exist comfortably without feeling cramped. The Build Our Taskers worked long, hard shifts while our team made sure they were well fed, hydrated and in good spirits. The team brought amazing energy and we couldn’t be prouder of the way they worked together. A garden designed for Cornerstone Gardens in Sonoma focusing on the question of place and how it relates to sustainability. It is about the ecology of the site as it once was symbolized by recreated wetlands, oyster shell mulch, and the runnel bordering the pathway signifying the water that once flowed in from San Pablo Bay; the present represented by sculptural vineyards; future possibilities symbolized by the sculptural tree- inspired by the California Buckeye (created by Regan Gentry from New Zealand), restored native plantings and wetlands.
