Inspiration for a timeless brick front porch remodel in Nashville with a roof extension

This project was done to update the homeowner's staircase from standard 3" newels with tapered balusters in golden oak to a more elegant look when you first walk through their front door. Because the entry area was so big and open, I advised that they use larger box style newel posts. The bottom newel is 7 1/4" square and the others are 6 1/4". For the spindles, I used metal single basket and single twist balusters. All wood is a dark stained poplar, which gave a more rich look and coordinated much better with the white trim throughout the rest of the home. photo by Todd Construction
