We enlisted the help of an artisan to create a mosaic using pieces of the coffee mugs. The inspiration for the design was the place he proposed to her, the Eiffel Tower. A lush wall color, like a very deep shadow, provides a dramatic ground against which to view the remarkable antiques and world-class reproductions. Our client wanted a unique, modern space that would pay tribute to the industrial history of the original factory building, yet remain an inviting space for entertaining, socialising and cooking. This project focused on designing an aesthetically pleasing, functional kitchen that complemented the industrial style of the building. The kitchen space needed to be impressive in its own right, without taking away from the main features of the open-plan living area. Every facet of the kitchen, from the smallest tile to the largest appliance was carefully considered. A combination of creative design and flawless joinery made it possible to use diverse materials such as stainless steel, reclaimed timbers, marble and reflective surfaces alongside integrated state-of-the-art appliances created an urbane, inner-city space suitable for large-scale entertaining or relaxing.

Take a moment to enjoy the tranquil and cozy feel of this rustic cottage kitchen and bathroom. With the whole bunkie outfitted in cabinetry with a warm, neutral finish and decorative metal hardware, this space feels right at home as a welcoming retreat surrounded by nature. ⠀ The space is refreshing and rejuvenating, with floral accents, lots of natural light, and clean, bright faucets, but pays tribute to traditional elegance with a special place to display fine china, detailed moulding, and a rustic chandelier. ⠀ The couple that owns this bunkie has done a beautiful job maximizing storage space and functionality, without losing one ounce of character or the peaceful feel of a streamlined, cottage life.

Well, not this one! When I purchased this floating home from my aunt and uncle, I undertook a huge out-of-state remodel. Up for the challenge, I grabbed my water wings, sketchpad, & measuring tape. It was sink or swim for Patricia Lockwood to finish before the end of 2014. The big reveal for the finished houseboat on Sauvie Island will be in the summer of 2015 - so stay tuned.
