The natural elements in this room are endless from the cork wall covering in the shelves to the wood blocks above the fireplace to the wood beams taken from old barns in northern part of the United States. All of this gives the room a much needed layer of texture and interest. The gray sectional serves as a nice backdrop to the color throw pillows. Two teal patterned slipper chairs flank the other side of the room to add more seating. An upholstered ottoman with acrylic legs serves as even more seating instead of the traditional cocktail table. This Noe Valley whole-house renovation maximizes natural light and features sculptural details. A new wall of full-height windows and doors allows for stunning views of downtown San Francisco. A dynamic skylight creates shifting shadows across the neutral palette of bleached oak cabinetry, white stone and silicone bronze. In order to avoid the clutter of an open plan the kitchen is intentionally outfitted with minimal hardware, integrated appliances and furniture grade cabinetry and detailing. This stunning glass enclosed modern custom wine cellar was designed and installed by Vintage Cellars earlier this year. The Contemporary Custom Wine Room was fitted into an existing fireplace space, turning the visually unappealing sore thumb of the room into a magnificent show stopping centerpiece. This modern luxury condo on the 31st floor in a downtown San Diego high-rise acted as a very interesting project for the custom wine cellar design team at Vintage Cellars. The modern wine room space has dual paned, insulated glass but because of the nature of glass itself, the cooling unit was recommended to be oversized. The custom wine room space itself didn't have great options for venting the cooling unit due to the location on the 31st floor. The best option to vent was determined to treat the wine room as a wine cabinet, per se. The Cooling Unit, a CellarPro 1800 XTS, was placed in the ceiling, venting down cool air and circulating vented air back upward. The result works perfectly for a uniquely modern and contemporary space such as this. This fully enclosed, glass front custom wine cellar boasts a 300 bottle capacity with a sleek, modern, label forward feel that ULTRA Wine Peg racking is known for. The center section is a double stacked full reveal display row, showcasing some of the homeowner's finer wines. Though no particular space was made within the wine racking area, the design of this modern custom wine cellar was pushed back a couple of feet so that wine case storage could be an option between the glass front and the custom racking. Additionally, the clean feel goes even further upon looking for the entrance into this wine cellar. The flat panel on the furthest left side opens slowly and almost magically when pushed in slightly. A great, modern touch! A gorgeous, modern condo such as this is just begging to have a custom wine cellar. This space, with big help from this contemporary wine room, screams luxury upon entering. The common brick of the fireplace, seat walls, and piers was painted to match the home and maintain the historic feel of the property. The carved freese under the mantel is limestone and mirrors a design from inside the home. The capping all around is Indiana limestone, as is the hardscaped floor. The primary goal for this project was to craft a modernist derivation of pueblo architecture. Set into a heavily laden boulder hillside, the design also reflects the nature of the stacked boulder formations. The site, located near local landmark Pinnacle Peak, offered breathtaking views which were largely upward, making proximity an issue. Maintaining southwest fenestration protection and maximizing views created the primary design constraint. The views are maximized with careful orientation, exacting overhangs, and wing wall locations. The overhangs intertwine and undulate with alternating materials stacking to reinforce the boulder strewn backdrop. The elegant material palette and siting allow for great harmony with the native desert. The Elegant Modern at Estancia was the collaboration of many of the Valley's finest luxury home specialists. Interiors guru David Michael Miller contributed elegance and refinement in every detail. Landscape architect Russ Greey of Greey | Pickett contributed a landscape design that not only complimented the architecture, but nestled into the surrounding desert as if always a part of it. And contractor Manship Builders -- Jim Manship and project manager Mark Laidlaw -- brought precision and skill to the construction of what architect C.P. Drewett described as "a watch." Rather than treating the new structure as an afterthought, the goal was to create a home that felt architecturally connected to the existing property. Its traditional exterior, white siding, steeply pitched roof, generous windows and carefully proportioned trim give the small residence the character of an established home. The project was created for the homeowners' mother, who downsized from her large lakefront home in the Midwest to move closer to her family and young grandchild. The result captures one of the greatest advantages of multigenerational living: family and shared community just steps away, balanced with the independence, privacy and comfort of a home of her own. Inside, every inch was carefully considered. The compact footprint feels remarkably open thanks to a vaulted, white-paneled ceiling, abundant natural light, tall windows and an open vertical design that draws the eye upward. A loft level expands the usable living space without sacrificing the airy feeling of the main floor. Traditional white Shaker-style cabinetry provides extensive built-in storage throughout the home and gives the interior a clean, timeless architectural character. In the kitchen, cabinetry extends upward to take advantage of the available height, while warm neutral countertops and a textured herringbone-pattern backsplash introduce subtle depth and contrast. Stainless-steel appliances are thoughtfully incorporated into the compact layout, creating a highly functional kitchen without overwhelming the living space. One of the home's most charming features is the intimate living area tucked beneath custom built-in cabinetry.
