Photo Credit: Daniel Angulo www.danielangulo.com Builder: Wamhoff Design Build www.wamhoffdesignbuild.com After knocking down walls to open up the space and adding skylights, a bright, airy kitchen with abundant natural light was created. The lighting, counter stools and soapstone countertops give the room an urban chic, semi-industrial feel but the warmth of the wooden beams and the wood flooring make sure that the space is not cold. A secondary, smaller island was put on wheels in order to have a movable and highly functional prep space.

Location: Austin, Texas, United States Renovation and addition to existing house built in 1920's. The front entry room is the original house - renovated - and we added 1600 sf to bring the total up to 2100 sf. The house features an open floor plan, large windows and plenty of natural light considering this is a dense, urban neighborhood.

Boston's Beacon Hill neighborhood is decidedly Victorian to the casual observer. However, while this young family appreciates the Beacon Hill aesthetic, they preferred a more updated, contemporary interior to fit their urban lifestyle. We created living spaces with elements that both respected the historic architecture and gave the homeowners the modern, clean-lines they desired. Modern family loft renovation. A young couple starting a family in the city purchased this two story loft in Boston's South End. Built in the 1990's, the loft was ready for updates. ZED transformed the space, creating a fresh new look and greatly increasing its functionality to accommodate an expanding family within an urban setting.
