The cabana was placed at the end of the pool to provide opportunities for a quiet, romantic getaway. The cabana is enclosed by block wall with an ipe wood veneer. Horizontal shudders are also of ipe. They allow for privacy with air movement (notice the angle of the shudder will not allow visibility into the cabana). The double fabric cabana is grey on the exterior with a white interior. A simple ceiling fan and light illuminates the entire space. The fireplace is precast concrete. It is natural gas with an internal ventilation system. The shower, also shown, is located just to the right of the cabana.

In some ways, this room is so inviting it makes you think OMG I want to be in that room, and at the same time, it seems so perfect you almost don’t want to disturb it. So is this room for show or for function? “It’s both,” MaRae Simone says. Even though it’s so beautiful, sexy and perfect, it’s still designed to be livable and functional. In a tonal world, it’s all about texture. This loft’s main living area is a blend of tonal greys and charcoals. The look is a perfect fit within the loft’s cool, masculine and industrial aesthetic. When creating this space with tonal fabrics, texture played a key role in providing depth, warmth and a feeling of home. And, the nearly 20-foot-long plunging draperies layered over sheers provide a sense of grandeur and cohesion throughout the loft. When designing, you don’t always have to use bright colors and ornate patterns to create interest. Smartly mixing textures and different types of fabrics also creates depth and interest in a room. And by including a piece of art (like the moon series) or reupholstering a vintage chair, you can add authentic stories and character that make the end result over the moon.
