Inspiration for a timeless one-car garage remodel in New York

VISION AND NEEDS: Our client came to us with a vision for their family dream house that offered adequate space and a lot of character. They were drawn to the traditional form and contemporary feel of a Modern Farmhouse. MCHUGH SOLUTION: In showing multiple options at the schematic stage, the client approved a traditional L shaped porch with simple barn-like columns. The entry foyer is simple in it's two-story volume and it's mono-chromatic (white & black) finishes. Unassuming from the street, this hideaway family home was a joy! Featuring 5 ensuite bedrooms, floor to ceiling windows, atrium, lap pool, and guest/pool house to boot. This home sold before it even hit the market by first viewers at full asking price.

A local homeowner partnered with VPC Builders to create the mountain retreat of his dreams. The kitchen and dining area are visible from the living room and were custom-designed to reflect the homeowner’s passion for cooking. Each wing of this former stable and carriage house became separate homes for two brothers. Although the structure is symmetrical from the exterior, it is uniquely distinct inside. The two siblings have different personalities and lifestyles; each wing takes on characteristics of the brother inhabiting it.
