This Florida Gulf home is a project by DIY Network where they asked viewers to design a home and then they built it! Talk about giving a consumer what they want! We were fortunate enough to have been picked to tile the kitchen--and our tile is everywhere! Using tile from countertop to ceiling is a great way to make a dramatic statement. But it's not the only dramatic statement--our monochromatic Moroccan Fish Scale tile provides a perfect, neutral backdrop to the bright pops of color throughout the kitchen. That gorgeous kitchen island is recycled copper from ships! Overall, this is one kitchen we wouldn't mind having for ourselves. Banker Wire’s architectural woven mesh is a key design element in the Willow Park Showhome, built by Zen Custom Homes and designed by AstonMorrone Designs. Utilized in two separate applications within the home—as a wall divider in the office, and as a statement kitchen island feature—the designer relied on Banker Wire’s M22-83 wire mesh pattern to create visual separations that allow the light to pass through, without impeding the flow of the open-planned space. Acting as a statement kitchen counter partition, M22-83’s stainless steel and brass finish brings warmth to the expansive, open kitchen. Fabricated within a red maple-colored wood frame, the wire mesh creates a dividing screen by connecting the bottom of the kitchen counter with the wood ceiling accent above, which spans the length and width of the counter. When lit by the kitchen ceiling lighting source, M22-83 is brought to life; created using a pair of nested helical crimped woven wires to define the circular mesh shape, this pattern’s doubled circle mesh creates unique reflective surfaces, allowing the light to pass through the mesh in varying ways. Similarly, this combination of stainless steel and brass gives off a colorful, luxurious aesthetic, where the depth and movement of the contrasting woven wires—of silver and gold tones—dynamically change as the viewer’s perspective shifts. In addition to creating a striking, statement background for the lights to reflect off of, this wood-mesh divider installation directs the line of sight towards the outside view of the home’s backyard. The double woven nature of the M22-83 pattern gives strength to this weave, making it a suitable option for a screen wall or space divider. The wire mesh application within this showhome office space acts as a partition that visually divides the front foyer while doubling as the back of a shelving wall. With the goal of creating a space that can be used as a flex-room or a working studio, the design team prioritized having natural light and a connection to the rest of the home. The Banker Wire mesh allows the sound and light to pass from the peripheral spaces through the length of the office space, with the trees in the transom windows located in the front foyer visible from behind the wire mesh divider wall. Additionally, the stainless steel and brass finish mirrors the wood millwork accents within the space, further adding to the masculine aesthetic of the design scheme while providing contrasting texture.

Catch-all Storage Closet Transforms into Elegant Wine Cellar It was a typical unused space with bare studs and exposed insulation located at the base of the lower level stairs, next to the mechanical room. The entire lower level floor is covered with multi-color slate which contained in-floor heat. This posed a problem for the new wine cellar. The challenge was overcome by placing a layer of foam insulation with a vapor barrier over the slate floor, walls, and ceiling. Then, a plywood subfloor was glued in. A wall space vented into the adjacent laundry room was created to house a cooling unit, which maintains a perfect temperature within the wine cellar. The location of this wine cellar was a wonderful opportunity to create a showpiece that could be viewed from the upper level. An old fashioned store front, complete with two large windows and a faux painted shingle roof, was designed and built to draw attention and allow the viewer to see inside. Tami found a wall mural of an authentic wine cave and had it sized to fit the side wall of the new wine cellar, providing an illusion of continuing space and setting the tone of what was about to come. A rustic wood floor and a tongue and groove barrel ceiling, faux painted to resemble brick, were installed - all coinciding with the wall mural. Custom cabinetry filled the interior, holding wine bottles and boxes of such. A copper sink was inlayed into a wood counter top. Faux painted bricks highlight an oiled rubbed bronze faucet and a leaded seedy glass cabinet above is designed to hold various types of scotch whiskey. Ambient lighting enhances the cabinetry while a rustic mini chandelier hangs from the center of the barrel ceiling. This once “catch-all” storage closet is no more. A small, old world wine cellar has emerged and now, is quite a show piece.

Unassuming from the street, this hideaway family home was a joy! Featuring 5 ensuite bedrooms, floor to ceiling windows, atrium, lap pool, and guest/pool house to boot. This home sold before it even hit the market by first viewers at full asking price.

Inviting formal dining room. Seventeen foot vaulted ceiling is brought down to human scale using wood moulding at 9 feet high and chair rail detail. Paint colors create warmth and accentuate mouldings. Charming country atmosphere coupled with sophisticated window treatments add contemporary detail.

An American black walnut island with Fyrn counter stools separate the kitchen and living room over a black, irregular-shaped flagstone floor. An assemblage of textures and raw materials, the dark-hued, minimalist layout for the kitchen opens to living room with panoramic views of the canyon (behind the viewer). We dropped the kitchen ceiling to be lower than the living room by 24 inches. There is a roof garden of meadow grasses and agave above the kitchen which thermally insulate cooling the kitchen space. Wood siding of the exterior wraps into the house at the south end of the kitchen concealing a pantry and panel-ready column, FIsher&Paykel refrigerator and freezer as well as a coffee bar. Soapstone counter top, backsplash and shelf/window sill, Brizo faucet with Farrow & Ball "Pitch Black" painted cabinets complete the edges. The smooth stucco of the exterior walls and roof overhang wraps inside to the ceiling passing the wide screen windows facing the street. Fisher&Paykel wall oven over a steam oven at right. Delta Light fixtures were used throughout for their discreet beauty yet highly functional settings.

Shingle-style guest cottage addition with garage below and interior connector from the main dining room of an early 1900 existing house. Sited so that garage entrance and drive works within the existing landscape elevation and orientation, the guest cottage connects directly to the first floor of the main house. This results in an interesting structural dynamic where the walls of the second floor addition are square to the main house, and the lower garage walls corkscrew at a forty-five degree angle to the walls above. Inspired by their fond memories of travels to the island of Malta, the client requested warm neutral finishes and chose honed cream marble flooring with tight fitting grout lines and an intricate pattern of a Walker Zanger marble tile for the fireplace surround. "Dove White" walls with "Antique White" trim were selected in traditional simplicity to replicate the standard of the existing house and create a seamless transition to the addition. Locally handcrafted copper sconces gently illuminate the space and maintain the period-style of the home.
