Bathroom in Ironwood Drive | Warm Modern Home in Scottsdale, AZ | Room Type: Whole Home Remodel and Furnishings | Project Name: Ironwood Drive Residence | Key Feature: A Tuscan home transformed into a warm modern interior through a full remodel and furnishings, highlighted by a custom hand-painted terracotta tile backsplash, custom cabinetry, and a new fireplace clad in basalt black stone that anchors the living space with drama and elegance. Challenge: Tuscan homes in Scottsdale are everywhere, and the design language that defined them, heavy wood, ornate details, dark iron, and rustic stone, does not transition gracefully on its own. The goal was to shed that Old World weight and move the home into something warmer and more current without losing the character that makes a remodeled home feel intentional rather than generic. Solution: Living with Lolo led the full remodel and furnishings as a single integrated project, which meant every decision from the custom cabinetry to the final throw pillow was made in service of the same design vision. The hand-painted terracotta tile backsplash brought artisan character into the kitchen in a way that felt fresh rather than Tuscan, and the basalt black stone fireplace gave the living space a bold focal point that reads as distinctly modern. Because Lauren holds both an interior design credential and an active Arizona ROC general contractor license, the construction and design were managed under one roof with no gap between the two. In Katy, Texas, Tradition Outdoor Living designed an outdoor living space, transforming the average backyard into a Texas Ranch-style retreat. Entering this outdoor addition, the scene boasts Texan Ranch with custom made cedar Barn-style doors creatively encasing the recessed TV above the fireplace. Maintaining the appeal of the doors, the fireplace cedar mantel is adorned with accent rustic hardware. The 60” electric fireplace, remote controlled with LED lights, flickers warm colors for a serene evening on the patio. An extended hearth continues along the perimeter of living room, creating bench seating for all. This combination of Rustic Taloka stack stone, from the fireplace and columns, and the polished Verano stone, capping the hearth and columns, perfectly pairs together enhancing the feel of this outdoor living room. The cedar-trimmed coffered beams in the tongue and groove ceiling and the wood planked stamped concrete make this space even more unique! In the large Outdoor Kitchen, beautifully polished New Venetian Gold granite countertops allow the chef plenty of space for serving food and chatting with guests at the bar. The stainless steel appliances sparkle in the evening while the custom, color-changing LED lighting glows underneath the kitchen granite. In the cooler months, this outdoor space is wired for electric radiant heat. Custom mirrors float down from the edge lit reverse cove ceiling in polished nickel with integrated warm LED lighting. The two person shower features body sprays, hand showers and rain showers and a door for quick access to the pool. The large soaking tub has a 50" tv recessed into the opposite wall, visible from the shower. The custom walnut vanity floats between walls with concealed mirrored niches with power, and views of the reflecting infinity pool to the harbor beyond. , white Calacatta Carrara marble, art deco inspired frosted glass sconces, and a large deco mirrors with custom walnut flat front cabinetry and a frameless glass shower with a teak bench.

This project combines two existing studio apartments into a compact 800 sqft. live/work space for a young professional couple in the heart of Chelsea, New York. The design required some creative space planning to meet the Owner’s requested program for an open plan solution with a private master bedroom suite and separate study that also allowed for entertaining small parties, including the ability to provide a sleeping space for guests. The solution was to identify areas of overlap within the program that could be addressed with dual-function custom millwork pieces. A bar-stool counter at the open kitchen folds out to become a bench and dining table for formal entertaining. A custom desk folds down with a murphy bed to convert a private study into a guest bedroom area. A series of pocket door connecting the spaces provide both privacy to the master bedroom area when closed, and the option for a completely open layout when opened. A carefully selected material palette brings a warm, tranquil feel to the space. Reclaimed teak floors run seamlessly through the main spaces to accentuate the open layout. Warm gray lacquered millwork, Centaurus granite slabs, and custom oxidized stainless steel details, give an elegant counterpoint to the natural teak floors. The master bedroom suite and study feature custom Afromosia millwork. The bathrooms are finished with cool toned ceramic tile, custom Afromosia vanities, and minimalist chrome fixtures. This new spa bathroom has many great features and custom design ideas. This is a two in one, walk-in shower and soaking tub. The shower has a wall hung head and jets as well as a rain-head shower overhead with cobble stone floors that massage your feet while you shower to a large custom glass shower niche with a back LED light to give a soft accent glow. The vanity has clean lines with vessel sinks and waterfall faucets coming off the wall. This is warm comfortable bathroom that convenient and fun.

The owner of this urban residence, which exhibits many natural materials, i.e., exposed brick and stucco interior walls, originally signed a contract to update two of his bathrooms. But, after the design and material phase began in earnest, he opted to removed the second bathroom from the project and focus entirely on the Master Bath. And, what a marvelous outcome! With the new design, two full­height walls were removed (one completely and the second lowered to knee­wall height) allowing the eye to sweep the entire space as one enters. The views, no longer hindered by walls, have been completely enhanced by the materials chosen. The limestone counter and tub deck are mated with the Rift­cut Oak, Espresso stained, custom cabinets and panels. Cabinetry, within the extended design, that appears to float in space, is highlighted by the under­cabinet LED lighting, creating glowing warmth that spills across the butter­colored floor. Stacked stone wall and splash tiles are balanced perfectly with the honed travertine floor tiles; floor tiles installed with a linear stagger, again, pulling the viewer into the restful space. The lighting, introduced, appropriately, in several layers, includes ambient, task (sconces installed through the mirroring), and “sparkle” (under­cabinet LED and mirror­frame LED). The final detail that marries this beautifully remodeled bathroom was the removal of the entry slab hinged door and in the installation of the new custom five glass panel pocket door.
