The Kipling house is a new addition to the Montrose neighborhood. Designed for a family of five, it allows for generous open family zones oriented to large glass walls facing the street and courtyard pool. The courtyard also creates a buffer between the master suite and the children's play and bedroom zones. The master suite echoes the first floor connection to the exterior, with large glass walls facing balconies to the courtyard and street. Fixed wood screens provide privacy on the first floor while a large sliding second floor panel allows the street balcony to exchange privacy control with the study. Material changes on the exterior articulate the zones of the house and negotiate structural loads.

This large side yard in the Lakeshore Historic District was redeveloped into a natural woodland clearing. Stormwater from the roof has been directed through a steel runnel into a native rain garden where it replenishes the cistern for a bubbling stone fountain. Weathered concrete slabs act as a thread from a firepit seating area, across the rain garden to the rear yard. This additional garden has a lawn parking pad, extensive kitchen gardens and a custom-built garden shower for visits to the beach.

This Mudroom doubles as a laundry room for the main level. Large Slate Tiles on the floor are easy to clean and give great texture to the space. Custom lockers with cushions give each family member a space for their belongings. A drop zone/planning center is a great place for mail and your laptop. A custom barndoor hung from the ceiling in a gray wash slides across the stackable washer and dryer to hide them when not in use. The shiplap walls are painted in Benjamin Moore White Dove. This view clearly shows the relationship between the lower main bathroom and the raised wet room in this Harrisburg, PA primary bathroom remodel. The change in elevation helps define the bathing zone while the expansive arched opening and frameless glass keep the two areas visually connected. The wet room incorporates the freestanding tub, walk-in shower and quartz bench, while radiant floor heating beneath the porcelain tile adds comfort throughout the lower main bathroom area.

Detailed perspective of the kitchen’s functional core: L-shaped wet work zone paired with statement marble waterfall island. Handleless glossy taupe upper and base cabinets surround double sink workstation with matte black gooseneck faucet, natural marble vein splashback adds elegant texture, under-cabinet LED strips deliver task lighting for food preparation. Three adjustable-height bar stools tuck beneath island overhang to create casual quick-meal seating, built-in dishwasher neatly concealed within base cabinet panel. This ergonomic layout balances cooking functionality and casual entertaining, constructed with humidity-resistant cabinet panels suited for Philippines tropical weather conditions.

These elements are repeated again at the bar area where a bold backsplash and black fixtures link to the design of the bathroom, creating a consistent and fun feel throughout. The bar was designed to accommodate mixing up a post-workout smoothie or a post-hot tub evening beverage, and is oriented at the billiards area to create central focal point in the space. Conveniently adjacent to both the fitness area and the media zone it is only steps away for a snack.
