Inspiration for a mid-sized transitional master vinyl floor and brown floor bedroom remodel in Other with beige walls and no fireplace

My clients had outgrown their builder’s basic home and had plenty of room to expand on their 10 acres. Working with a local architect and a talented contractor, we designed an addition to create 3 new bedrooms, a bathroom scaled for all 3 girls, a playroom and a master retreat including 3 fireplaces, sauna, steam shower, office or “creative room”, and large bedroom with folding glass wall to capitalize on their view. The master suite, gym, pool and tennis courts are still under construction, but the girls’ suite and living room space are complete and dust free. Each child’s room was designed around their preference of color scheme and each girl has a unique feature that makes their room truly their own. The oldest daughter has a secret passage hidden behind what looks like built in cabinetry. The youngest daughter wanted to “swing”, so we outfitted her with a hanging bed set in front of a custom mural created by a Spanish artist. The middle daughter is an elite gymnast, so we added monkey bars so she can cruise her room in style. The girls’ bathroom suite has 3 identical “stations” with abundant storage. Cabinetry in black walnut and peacock blue and white quartz counters with white marble backsplash are durable and beautiful. Two shower stalls, designed with a colorful and intricate tile design, prevent bathroom wait times and a custom wall mural brings a little of the outdoors in.

This Arthur Rutenberg Homes roomy master bath has a stand-alone tub, a walk-in shower with dual shower heads, his and her granite-topped vanities and an enormous his and her closet with built-ins suitable for a vast wardrobe.

These renovated bathrooms blend sleek, modern design with functional elegance. The space features clean lines and a minimalist aesthetic, highlighted by neutral tones of soft greys and whites. A large frameless glass shower with a rainfall showerhead takes center stage, complemented by smooth, matte black fixtures for a striking contrast. The floating vanity, with a white marble countertop, is paired with a large mirror that spans the wall, creating an open, airy feel. Textured tiles in a geometric pattern adorn the floor, adding subtle interest, while underfloor heating provides added comfort. The overall atmosphere is calm, bright, and sophisticated, with an emphasis on both style and practicality.

Situated in rural east Templeton is the Santa Barbara style estate that is the Castillo Residence. It exemplifies the classic nature of old world Spain, sporting massive timber trusses, authentic terra cotta tile flooring and pristine white washed walls. The entry to the residence is suitably grand, with a sweeping stair case up to a landing that overlooks the antique wood front door. The house boasts lofty ceilings in the great room, and a two story library complete with spiral stair case. This house was not only designed to suit its human residents but also its canine residents, and they have their own room off of the 5-car garage at the lower level. The master suite occupies a full wing of the residence, at a mere 1,700 square feet, providing space for a master sitting room, bedroom, bathroom, and sprawling walk in closets with laundry facilities. There are a plethora of outdoor living spaces, including a full outdoor kitchen, reflecting pool water feature and massive covered porches overlooking the Templeton countryside.

We often get asked whether it is suitable to install a freestanding bathtub in an alcove. The answer – absolutely!
Freestanding bathtubs have been around for nearly 150 years, and they are still part of every day design. Available in endless shapes, colors and sizes. The freestanding bathtub has really evolved in terms of materials, aesthetics and comfort.
We recently collaborated with the incredibly talented Andria of Andria Fromm Interiors in Nashville. Our customer Jenny was renovating her bathroom and Andria had a stunning vision.
Jenny wanted a shower as well as being able to enjoy soaking in a bathtub. They decided that installing a freestanding bathtub in an alcove they created was the best option to enjoy the best of both worlds. The end result is simply stunning.
She completely transformed the room by wrapping the entire bathroom in tile. A beautiful mix marble, and tile adds dimension to the entire design. Andria integrated some Earthy elements as well, some greenery and wood trim.
Natural light enters from the window centered above the T & L Adoni freestanding jetted bathtub providing a view of the garden. The soft white matte finish on the bathtub gives the appearance of natural stone with a clean crisp finish. Sunlight bounces off the elegant gold accents bringing a charming glow into the bathroom.

BEFORE
This house was built in the 1950’s. The original layout was not suitable for a contemporary family. The space was divided into small rooms. The second floor was not finished, it was a raw space with low ceilings. All the electrical and plumbing had to be upgraded and it needed a new HVAC system. The house had a solid foundation, but everything else needed to be reinvisioned, redesigned and rebuilt.
AFTER
We took down several walls on the first floor, added the french door which brightened up the room. Then, we completely reconfigured and opened the space. This allowed for a huge kitchen with a large island, perfect for entertainment, or homework, plenty of counter space and storage. We used walnut cabinetry for the island and combined it with white solid wood cabinets on the perimeter. Located right off the kitchen, a former bedroom was converted into a playroom/den, but could be used for a home office, perfect for a family.
We raised the roof on the second level and expanded it to add a master suite, two bedrooms and a guest bathroom. The two bedrooms are perfect for kids, or anyone else and both have custom closets and lot’s of light. All bedrooms have custom closets.
The master bedroom is very spacious. It has plenty of room for a king size bed and a nice seating area where you can unwind, read, work or have a cup of coffee. The master bath offers a custom double vanity and large shower with the frameless glass enclosure.
A lot of thought, hard work and love went into redesigning and building this urban style home.
What makes this home unique is the craftsmanship, custom details and quality.
