The client wanted to update her tired, dated family room. They had grown accustomed to having reclining seats so one challenge was to create a new reclining sectional that looked fresh and contemporary. This one has three reclining seats plus convenient USB ports.
The clients also wanted to be able to eat dinner in the room while watching TV but there was no room for a regular dining table so we designed a custom silver leaf bar table to sit behind the sectional with a custom 1 1/2" Thinkglass art glass top.
New dark wood floors were installed and a custom wool and silk area rug was designed that ties all the pieces together.
We designed a new coffered ceiling with lighting in each bay. And built out the fireplace with dimensional tile to the ceiling.
The color scheme was kept intentionally monochromatic to show off the different textures with the only color being touches of blue in the pillows and accessories to pick up the art glass.

This barn used to be the carriage house for an adjacent property, and was initially in pretty bad shape: no roof, sagging beams, and so much Redwood duff and ivy that the owner didn't realize there was a concrete floor underneath. A framer helped the owner reframe the barn from the inside, using dimensional lumber to keep the integrity of the original studs. (Back in the day, a 2 x 4 actually measured 2" x 4".) The siding seen here was originally on the inside of this same wall. Originally the barn had three "rooms", and when the third room collapsed the wall was replaced with plywood.

Bio wood is a completely chemical free wood flooring made from European larch and crafted in Italy. This wood species is known for its beautiful elongated and dimensional grain.
Bio wood is vapor treated, the planks are placed in sealed basins that emit a steam composed of water and other natural elements creating a natural sealer on the finished surface. This vapor treatment and drying creates an extremely durable, non-permeable finish. These planks have a hand-sawn surface, and due to the nature of the finishing system each plank is subtly different.
This collection is a variable width floor and contains three different plank widths.
*These planks are completely chemical free and certified for use in bio buildings.

Top floor is comprised of vastly open multipurpose space and a guest bathroom incorporating a steam shower and inside/outside shower.
This multipurpose room can serve as a tv watching area, game room, entertaining space with hidden bar, and cleverly built in murphy bed that can be opened up for sleep overs.
Recessed TV built-in offers extensive storage hidden in three-dimensional cabinet design. Recessed black out roller shades and ripplefold sheer drapes open or close with a touch of a button, offering blacked out space for evenings or filtered Florida sun during the day. Being a 3rd floor this room offers incredible views of Fort Lauderdale just over the tops of palms lining up the streets.
Color scheme in this room is more vibrant and playful, with floors in Brazilian ipe and fabrics in crème. Cove LED ceiling details carry throughout home.

This playful kids’ room is full of color, pattern, and imagination. A hand-drawn cityscape and trolley wallpaper mural sets a whimsical backdrop, complemented by a window with a beige Roman shade. A lime green bean bag adds a cozy seating spot, while a bright triangular-patterned rug in pink, yellow, orange, blue, white, and gray energizes the floor. A white pedestal table with three bright orange chairs encourages creative play, paired with toy storage bins and an artsy ceiling light to complete this lively, functional, and fun-filled space. Located in a neighborhood characterized by traditional bungalow style single-family residences, Orange Grove is a new landmark for the City of West Hollywood. The building is sensitively designed and compatible with the neighborhood, but differs in material palette and scale from its neighbors. Referencing architectural conventions of modernism rather than the pitched roof forms of traditional domesticity, the project presents a characteristic that is consistent with the eclectic and often unconventional demographic of West Hollywood. Distinct from neighboring structures, the building creates a strong relationship to the street by virtue of its large amount of highly usable balcony area in the front façade.
While there are dramatic and larger scale elements that define the building, it is also broken down into comprehensible human scale parts, and is itself broken down into two different buildings. Orange Grove displays a similar kind of iconoclasm as the Schindler House, an icon of California modernism, located a short distance away. Like the Schindler House, the conventional architectural elements of windows and porches become part of an abstract sculptural ensemble. At the Schindler House, windows are found in the gaps between structural concrete wall panels. At Orange Grove, windows are inserted in gaps between different sections of the building.
The design of Orange Grove is generated by a subtle balance of tensions. Building volumes and the placement of windows, doors and balconies are not static but rather constitute an active three-dimensional composition in motion. Each piece of the building is a strong and clearly defined shape, such as the corrugated metal surround that encloses the second story balcony in the east and north facades. Another example of this clear delineation is the use of two square profile balcony surrounds in the front façade that set up a dialogue between them—one is small, the other large, one is open at the front, the other is veiled with stainless steel slats. At the same time each balcony is balanced and related to other elements in the building, the smaller one to the driveway gate below and the other to the roll-up door and first floor balcony. Each building element is intended to read as an abstract form in itself—such as a window becoming a slit or windows becoming a framed box, while also becoming part of a larger whole. Although this building may not mirror the status quo it answers to the desires of consumers in a burgeoning niche market who want large, simple interior volumes of space, and a paradigm based on space, light and industrial materials of the loft rather than the bungalow.

This outdoor living space features a custom circular fire pit gathering area built with Unilock materials, designed to create a comfortable and visually striking focal point within this backyard in New Albany, Ohio. The fire pit area is constructed using Unilock Copthorne pavers in a three-color blend arranged in a classic herringbone pattern, which adds texture and timeless character to the circular patio surface.
Surrounding the fire pit are curved sitting walls built with Unilock Dimensional wall block in the Sierra color, providing both structure and comfortable seating for outdoor gatherings. The fire pit and sitting walls are finished with double fullnose coping, creating smooth, rounded edges that provide a refined and comfortable seating surface around the fire feature. Flanking the seating area are decorative columns constructed from the same Unilock Dimensional Sierra wall block, further enhancing the architectural feel of the space.
Each column is capped with Unilock Ledgestone rock-faced pillar caps, adding texture and a natural stone appearance that complements the surrounding patio materials. These columns help frame the circular fire pit area and create visual balance within the landscape.
Adjacent to the fire pit gathering space, the upper patio is constructed with Unilock Beacon Hill Flagstone pavers in the Sierra blend, offering a natural stone aesthetic and durable surface for outdoor living. The patio design incorporates a red three-color Copthorne accent border, which connects the upper patio visually with the circular fire pit area below.
