If you love a cozy, lived-in feeling, try going for a rustic bathroom look. While you can take rustic style in a number of directions, from shabby-chic to log cabin, reclaimed woods and metals are a must. To find countless rustic bathroom ideas, browse the photos below, and consider what sort of rustic bathroom decor you like best.

Choose Reclaimed Fixtures

While using true family heirlooms is a great way to outfit a rustic bathroom, not all of us are lucky enough to have such possessions. To make your home feel like it’s full of objects you collected or inherited over the years, pair a variety of stand-alone fixtures together. For example, rustic bathroom vanities can be made from repurposed tables or shelves and fitted with a sink. A truly rustic bathroom sink can be made from a repurposed metal bucket, or your could go with a drop-in farmhouse style sink.

For extra storage, add in a freestanding wooden cabinet and stock it up with your bathroom linens. Depending on the look you’re going for, you may want to paint it blue or green, or leave the wood unfinished. Rustic bathroom shelves can also be made from rough wood planks and metal bars, for a slightly industrial look. If you’re searching for rustic bathroom lighting, you have a number of options. Exposed Edison bulbs can look great in a rustic bathroom, while lantern-style fixtures blend well with a French country look.

Use Decor With Character

While you search for rustic bathroom decor ideas, remember to stick to natural materials. Wicker baskets and metal pails are perfect for holding towels, toiletries or even for use as waste bins. Rustic bathroom signs made from reclaimed wood can add a homey touch, and can also be outfitted with hooks to hang robes and towels.

If you like an old-world, more elegant style, you might keep an eye out for country rustic bathroom ideas. Think whites, creams and baby blues contrasted with wood. Rustic bathroom accessories like candles, ornate vases and old perfume bottles would all add to the look. You might also incorporate floral decor, with art prints or patterned hand towels. In addition, a clawfoot tub, a framed mirror and an old-fashioned rug can all look beautiful in a rustic bathroom.

On the other hand, if you’re looking for rustic cabin-style bathroom ideas, lean in to woods, rich colors and chunky textures. You might use galvanized metal fixtures, incorporate a southwestern style rug or even put up old posters of national parks. Whether you’re in need of small rustic bathroom ideas or you’re going for resort-style luxury, simply think cozy. In particular, cream colored candles and plush towels contrast nicely with unfinished wood. A large soaking tub or a glass shower with stone tile can also help you achieve an updated cabin look.
