Maletz Design

Elizabeth and her team at Maletz design just renovated our entire kitchen. This kitchen remodel transformed our whole space to make it feel new and more more modern. The kitchen was a pretty good size to begin with and she was able to make it appear so much larger and cleaner. She was very organized and her plans were comprehensive for our contractor. Her ability to select high quality granite, light fixtures, tile, backsplash, cabinets made a huge difference. We especially loved her attention to detail - she found these lovely hexagon shaped knobs for our cabinets.

I am the client for one of the projects displayed by Elizabeth on Houzz. I had an excellent experience working with Elizabeth. I use the term "working with" Elizabeth deliberately because I found the experience very collaborative. Although our tastes are similar, I found Elizabeth open to incorporating my ideas and coming up with a solution that was better than either of us had originally envisioned. This kind of project (a total gut renovation) can be extremely stressful, but it was not in this case thanks to Elizabeth. She was always organized, in control and managed the entire project, including acting as owner's representative with the general contractor. She did not permit any part of the construction to be done to less than an excellent standard. I have very high standards, and Elizabeth met them in every regard. I recommend her without reservation.

Elizabeth and I have a similar design aesthetic, which in my opinion is one of the most important first steps in finding an architect/designer. Our kickoff meeting set the tone for the entire project -- Elizabeth was a thoughtful listener who provided guidance but allowed me to set the scope and budget without imposing her views of what should be done, to what level, and when. Throughout the process she was good at flagging areas where I'd get my money back and areas where shortcuts, which could cut the cost significantly while still generating a nice finished product, were advisable. Elizabeth was responsive when construction hit snags and provided good advice/consultation. Overall very happy with the experience and have recommended her highly to others in my building.

We hired Elizabeth Maletz to design a gut reno of a kitchen and advise on design choices throughout our apartment in downtown Brooklyn. More than two years into living in the apartment, we've discovered that all of her advice turned out to be right (and we regret not spending a bit more to make more of her advice come true). Besides having exquisite taste and comforting expertise, Elizabeth is also an excellent communicator, is respectful of budget and other client concerns, and is well-connected with NYC suppliers. She was a pleasure to work with, and we're looking forward to asking her back when we are ready for Phase 2 (remodeling bathrooms).

Elizabeth is both an excellent architect and designer! She created completely new, efficient, modern and beautiful designs for both our kitchen and bathroom. The spaces were relatively small, but with her keen eye they appeared much larger as she was able to utilize all of the available space. I highly recommend Elizabeth for all of our interior projects.
