We contracted Sofia to do all the Interior Design work for a new apartment. We cannot express in a review how lucky we were. She navigated construction delays, a challenging client, post pandemic supply chain issues with patience and grace. The final product exceeds our wildest dreams. She took the time to know us and our tastes and filled the home to match us. Part of the Zimmerman magic is the combination of their three businesses. She is a fabulous designer with great resources and taste, Ottra creates some of the most beautiful furniture and when there is a tricky puzzle to solve Adam and the architecture team can figure out the solution. They make what can be a painful process easy and even at times fun. Do yourself a favor and hire Sofia and the great team at Zimmerman!

We just completed a successful combination of two condo units into one beautiful home - hugely successful thanks to Adam and Sofia. We could not have had a better experience working with them throughout the entire process. They had the vision to transform our patchy ideas into a design that perfectly fit our needs and worked tirelessly to deliver an elegant, functional space. They are meticulous, knowledgeable and talented and manage all aspects of the project comprehensively and professionally. Team was fantastic from start to finish. The primary project that we completed was for a backyard renovation in our Brooklyn condo. We were constrained by a small-ish footprint, lack of privacy (condo building looked down on the space) and desire for low maintenance. In short they nailed it. They produced a great design with style, low maintenance plants and a funky tent covering. The entire project was flawlessly executed from the design, material sourcing, contractor interviews, timeline management etc. When it came time to sell our home this space was the highlight. We are currently working with them again on some interior design for a new home! Highly recommend for their work as well as their friendly, low-pressure communication style.

On the recommendation of a close friend I hired Adam Zimmerman, a Brooklyn-based architect, who with his wife, Sofia, managed the renovation of my Manhattan apartment over a period of some four months in 2014. Their "management" included vetting contractors, selecting fixtures, furniture, color schemes, and introducing me to stores from Carl Hansen to Ikea to YLighting to Drimmers. Adam is both exceptionally creative and exceptionally detailed. He turned a rather shopworn one bedroom apartment into a thing of awe. He visited the site often, which is always important in keeping the contractor on goal and was always available to go on shopping excursions with me. Zimmerman Workshop provided architectural drawings and renderings for the renovation of my apartment, helped me interview potential contractors, oversaw the job site and communicated with the contractor, until the project was complete to my satisfaction. They were timely, professional, and provided multiple design options for my consideration. This was my first apartment renovation and I could not have done it without them.

We purchased a mid-century modern home built in 1959 and renovated in the late 90's early 2000's. The house had great bones, but needed to be brought up to today's design esthetic with a better use of the space. Zimmerman Workshop created a design for the common living space, which included our entryway, kitchen, living room and dining room, that is beautiful. The centerpiece of the design is an 11 foot long handcrafted butcher block island with a waterfall at one end and a parabolic leg at the other. Zimmerman Workshop also created a redesign of our guest bath, which brought the design of that space back in line with the rest of the home. The architect was able to work within our budget and find economical solutions to some design challenges that we faced. They were also instrumental on helping with the fabrication of the butcher block island; working directly with the craftsmen to aide in its creation. We would definitely love to work with Zimmerman Workshop again in the future and would highly recommend them.

Zimmerman Workshop designed and then oversaw a large renovation project in my Brooklyn apartment. The focus was the kitchen. Not only was the end result beautiful and highly functional, but their professionalism created a highly efficient and enjoyable construction period. I have hired Zimmerman Workshop for an even larger scope project in my new home.

We are so pleased to have worked with Zimmerman Workshop. The end result is a 2500 sq. ft home that works beautifully. They really understand how overwhelming a large reno or build project can be so they guide you through the process in the most postive way. The firm is innovative, creative and smart. From start to finish, all our architectural, interior and design needs were taken care of seamlessly by Adam and his talented team. I think what I found most refreshing was how they helped us understand what needed to be done- and worked with us to undertand our real needs. We turned our house into a single family home and gutted the top floor and the kitchen, The top floor was a rental apartment and we turned it into a floor for our two teenage children. We wanted a more contemporary and fun design. The parlor floor was updated and made more comfortable and family friendly. We wanted a lot more light in the kitchen, a bistro feel, and that our garden be a natural extension of the kitchen. Adam and Sofia did a brilliant job of architectural design while maintaining a wonderful feel throughout the house. Our experience with Adam and Sofia couldn't have been better. Whether it was their responsiveness and always being available no matter how small the question, working through problems and helping us decide on the best solution and creating a positive working team.
