Choosing Peter / Kucera Construction for our project was the best decision we made. We did a full gut renovation + addition and after meeting with several contractors Peter was the obvious choice. His estimate was extremely detailed to where you knew exactly what you were paying for on each line item (which left for minimal surprises throughout the entire project). His pricing is competitive and the work his team does is just incredible. He has a large team (which helps get things done FAST) and all of the guys are super kind, hardworking and skilled. I can’t say enough positive things about his team and all of his subcontractors. This was our first time renovating a home and we would have been so lost without Peter. He helped guide us through the entire process, never got irritated by my endless questions or changes, and gave such valuable feedback/guidance on miscellaneous items that I couldn’t make my mind up on. He is communicative, reliable, trustworthy and just an all around good person. I was so nervous selecting a GC after hearing so many nightmare stories, and could not be more thankful we found Peter and that he took us on as a client. We are in love with the finished product and would choose Peter again in a heartbeat for any future projects.

We were so impressed by Peter and his crew. From the very start he was professional and honest! He also has a good sense of humor, which is necessary during a kitchen gut. His crew went above and beyond and arrived at 7:00 am every day and worked often into the early evening. Peter knew we had family coming in for the holidays and worked tirelessly to get the project done in time. The kitchen is beautiful! We will use Peter for other house projects as well.

We have used Kucera C. (Peter) for multiple projects, including our master bathroom and enhancing storage and walkways in our attic. Most recently he remodeled the second bathroom and re-built our deck. We are very pleased with the quality and the care put into the final look. Peter communicates well and works with us throughout the projects to ensure it meets our expectations. That includes returning to repair some faulty hardware post installation. When our friends are considering house remodeling, we always recommend him.

Peter was the best! Always prompt, usually 2min ahead of schedule. His workers too were always professional, on time, did an amazing job cleaning up at the end of each day. The project was outlined and timeline adhered to better than any contractor stories you’ve ever heard. Peter was so communicative and managed my expectations every step of the way. His costs were reasonable and his knowledge/skill set are impeccable. I would definitely recommend him for any project big or small!

Kucera Construction did a partial bathroom remodel for us. The job involved removing a Jacuzzi, and building a senior-friendly shower in its place. The new shower includes grab bars, fold-down seat, and both hand and overhead shower heads. New tile flooring and additional beadboard on the walls completed the job. Once the job was started, there were no days when workers did not show up, and their clean-up at the end of the day was impeccable. The job was completed on time, and the attention to detail was remarkable. After completion, Mr. Kucera personally inspected the job, noting tiny details to improve. We would not hesitate to recommend this company, and to use them again if the opportunity arises.

Awesome contractor company that works in the Chicago area. Very skilled in doing minor work or major renovations. My project was a total condo remodel that took about 5 months and included all drywall, tile, countertop, electrical, plumbing and AC replacement. Will work off CAD drawings or more informal design ideas and has the experience to know what works and what doesn't (has a good eye for design as well as construction). Seems to have lots of construction material contacts in the Chicago area and suburbs as well (saved us lots of time and money). After my condo was done I got lots of compliments from people who wanted to take pictures for their next project! I would highly recommend Kucera but would book well in advance as it seems his company is very sought after.

Petr Kucera, owner of Kucera Construction, is a very honest, talented and hardworking contractor. He and his employees are wonderful craftsmen. My husband and have known Petr for twelve years. His company remodeled my father’s 1945 townhome. The finish carpentry, tile work, plumbing, plastering, painting and kitchen design was perfect. Two years ago I sold the townhome over the asking price. I attribute this to Petr, he knew exactly what to do! Petr has also done several projects in our Wilmette home. Not only did his crew do perfect installation, finish carpentry and plaster/painting, they left our home with not one spec of dust on the floors or walls. Petr and his employees are so nice to work with, trustworthy and dependable. We feel very lucky to have Petr as our contractor!

We hired Peter / Kucera Construction to complete a total renovation of our master bathroom. He was highly recommended by our Interior Designer and did not disappoint. Peter provided us with excellent communication throughout the complex bathroom project which included removing a closet wall to expand the size of the bathroom. Peter frequently set-up touch base meetings with us in order to discuss next steps and the timeline for completion. There was NEVER a time in which we were not able to get a hold of him (which has not been our experience with other Contractors for similar type projects). Peter also has an eye for design and worked closely with our Interior Designer. He provided thoughtful recommendations to assist with the overall functionality and/or practicality of the bathroom. Between Peter and our Interior Designer, there was not a detail missed in the renovation. Peter and his team did a fantastic job and we now have a beautiful master bathroom that has received many compliments. We would not hesitate to use Peter for another project and would highly recommend him to others. It was a pleasure to work with him and his team.

He was very busy over the summer so it took a bit of back and forth to agree on a contract but once that was finished the team completed their services promptly and with high quality craftsmanship. They were on time, professional, and considerate of our space as we were still living in the house while remodeling was being completed - they thoroughly cleaned up at the end of each day, they were responsive to requests for changes or additions to the work, and were impressively professional throughout. Kucera Construction Completed a Kitchen and Bath Remodel for me. They did a great job both with the completing the work that was designed, but also gave me several options that made the end result even better. And still came in on time and on budget! Kucera Construction did a wonderful job for us and met or exceeded our expectations every step of the way. Peter's primary focus was our complete satisfaction with the work performed. We needed to have our basement completely deep cleaned and renovated due to some flooding. From the time they started the project until final completion they were always on time and would clean everything up at the end of each day, plus they worked six days a week which enabled them to complete our job in two weeks. All of this for a very reasonable price. Would definitely hire them again if anything else is needed.

Kucera construction did the complete remodel of our master bathroom. They were excellent to work with from the initial consultation with us and our designer to the completion of the project. They were extremely careful with our condo and made things very livable for us throughout the entire process from demolition of the bathroom through reconstruction and finishing work. Their craftsmanship was excellent from the electrical and plumbing infrastructure, to the floor and tile work, to the finishing work for cabinetry and fixtures. If there were some issues that arose during the process that required changes they carefully explained options and costs. The workman were very polite and did extensive cleanup at the end of each day. They worked within the restrictions placed by our condo association rules and there was never an issue or complaint. All in all, Peter and his men were a pleasure to work with and we are very happy with the work that they did. We would recommend Kucera Construction highly to others.

I hired Kucera to provide a unique addition to an existing garage. The company did a fine job building the structure, after assisting in a seemingly endless round of permit reviews. Peter was responsive and quick, and the quality of construction was most satisfactory.

Kucera Construction completely demolished and renovated my 1925 Chicago Bungalow kitchen, bathroom, and the connecting hallway. He and his team have an eye for detail and did a wonderful job walking me through my first ever remodel. He was able to save my original maple kitchen/hallway floor. He listens, he advises, and he comes back to make sure everything is just right. I LOVE the results. It looks just as I envisioned it, from the casement window, the glass back door, the built in shelves in the hallway, and the kitchen which is beautiful and functional. The bathroom, with its glass shower doors, oversized subway tile, and basket weave floor gives an updated look, while maintaining the look of the bungalow period. Peter and his team are easy to work with, nice, kind, and helpful. They go the extra mile always. They are the best.

Peter and his team went above and beyond to make sure we are satisfied with the result. From the initial estimate, through the unexpected roadblocks (our fault for not realizing we need a permit, and Peter completed all paperwork quickly so we could proceed) and to the last touches Peter was on top of the things, giving us prompt updates and checking for all things we would totally missed otherwise. We are extremely happy with the end result and won't hesitate to work with Peter and his team on other projects.

Peter is an excellent contractor. Our home project was a full gut renovation of a 1920's colonial. The idea was to keep the original exterior but clean up the interior wherever possible. Peter and his subs went above and beyond to make sure that everything was as well executed as possible given the existing structure. The scope of work was all new plumbing, electrical, HVAC, Roof, windows, flooring, kitchen, millwork, ceramic tile. They worked around the clock to make sure the project was flawless and delivered on time. We love our new house and this is all because of Peter and Kuchera Construction. I work in the design industry and can tell you that Peter is one of the best builders in the city of Chicago.

We had new sliding door and windows installed by Peter and his crew. The job went very well and the crew was very professional. They put the protection down and cleaned up when the job is done. Very happy with the service and the work. I'm giving 4 stars because it was hard to get in touch with Peter as he is busy and it took a while for him to respond but other than that everything was very satisfaction. We will definitely work with Peter again and we highly recommended Kucera Construction.

Peter Kucera and his team did a very nice job on a remodeling oroject after a condo flood left a bathroom, bedroom and hallway damaged. He was always prompt, and finished the project on schedule. Peter was very responsive whenever questions came up and did great work at a very fair price.

We recently used Kucera Construction for a complete first floor and kitchen remodel. Kucera construction was able to quickly dissect our designer’s drawings and put a work plan into action. A few times the designer’s plans did not take certain hidden structural issues into consideration. It is here where Kucera Construction shines. They were able to quickly come up with creative solutions to ensure that the end product was spot on. It is clear that Kucera Construction can handle any job big or small. Additionally, the team at Kucera Construction shows an unsurpassed attention to detail. Many aspects of our project blended complicated millwork features, ¾ inch reveals, and ceiling details. These features came out perfectly and could be featured in a magazine. The best aspect of using Kucera Construction was that they constantly kept us apprised of the status of our project. Not once did we have to contact Kucera Construction about when work was going to be completed. Every other day if not daily they would let us know what work was completed and what was going to be completed next. Every member of the team is hard-working, professional, timely, and clean. We recommend Kucera Construction to all of ours friends and will certainly use them on our next project.

I had Kucera Construction tear down my old deck and build a new deck with a different layout. Peter was able to fit me into his schedule earlier than expected, and the workers on-site were prompt, polite, and hard-working. The project came in on-budget, and the results better than expected. A great experience, and I recommend them highly.

Kucera Construction has performed two rehab projects for me. The first was a mud room remodel where they performed selective demolition, installed drywall, flooring, light fixtures. The second was a basement remodel/buildout that included drywall, lighting, light plumbing, cabinetry/tops, and flooring. Both were done with a level of quality that I am very happy with.

I recently rehired Kucera Construction to put in two new floors and refinish the rest of my floors. The work is seamless and beautiful. They were in really bad shape before but are stunningly beautiful now. Their price was very reasonable.

Our project includes a full demo and rebuild for most of the back of our house. Interior and exterior work was needed to create a new kitchen, mudroom and flat roof space for a rooftop deck. We also needed new shingles on a peak roof, a bay window converted to a 12 ft sliding door and multiple doors installed. In addition, an open floor plan was achieved in the kitchen area by removing a brick wall and installing a 16 ft steel beam between the original house and the room addition. This isn't a simple project, hence the need to find the right person to entrust this somewhat daunting scope. I met with over 10 people spanning design/build firms, kitchen/home remodeling companies and individual contractors. For some our project was out of scope for their core business or it had too many moving parts for their comfort level. When I met Peter the first time his calm demeanor and technical responses to my questions gave me the confidence he would be easy to work with and knew what he was doing. As the project progresses I find he is a good listener, creative problem solver, responsive communicator and definitely a thinker. He has a good work ethic, high standards and expects quality work all of which is echoed and delivered by the tradesmen he partners with and his team. He kindly answers any of my questions and sketches things out on paper when needed, which I find is very helpful. Initially when reviewing proposals, Peter's proposal was one of the few with very detailed line items. This thoroughness helped us better understand the overall project scope and cost breakdown and was much more helpful than proposals with only a lump sum. Later we found his proposal format helpful when needing to tweak a few product purchases for budgeting purposes. It is expected a home remodeling project will be to your liking when it is complete, but a smooth process with easy and timely communication throughout makes a remodeling project that much more easy to live through. This has been my experience with Peter and his team. We are very pleased with the final outcome.
