About Us

Michael Jarnagin is the sole proprietor of Garden Designs. Garden Designs began in 2000 as a residential landscape design company. Michael began his career as a landscaper over twenty five years ago in Berkshire, England. After four years as gardener at the National Trust, Cliveden. Michael graduated from the Berkshire College of Agriculture with a National Certificate in Horticulture. In 1991 Michael moved to California where he continued to study horticulture. In 1999 he graduated from Cal Poly State University with a BS in Ornamental Horticulture with an emphasis on habitat restoration. Throughout his early career Michael has worked with some of the top residential developers / architects in the Bay Area. Some of Michael's work has been recognized in CountryHome magazine as well as SanFrancisco magazine. Garden Designs has appeared several times on HGTV Curb Appeal as landscape designer/consultant. His extensive knowledge of horticulture and environment allows him to create dynamic, yet harmonious panoramas. I have used Michael both personally and professionally. Mike prepared my Garden for a professional photo shoot that included my Home & Garden and he was wonderful as was his staff. I have also used Mike on a number of my projects and, to a person my clients have been beyond thrilled ! He is always on time and on budget. I cannot rave enough about Mike and his staff. Suffice it to say they have never let me down !!!

Michael was phenomenal to work with from start to finish. His original plans were gorgeous, he was knowledgeable about the materials and his team was super friendly and respectful. We essentially gutted our yard, started over and Michael transformed the space into a retreat that we never thought possible.

We have used Mike Jarnagin of Garden Designs for 2 major landscaping projects as well as garden maintenance for the last 4 years. The landscaping work exceeded our expectations and Mike has kept it that way ever since. Mike and his team are very professional and very responsive. For example, my neighbor called while we were away on vacation to say that we had a water leak in the garden. I emailed Mike and he was there the next day to check on things and fix the stuck irrigation valve. Five Stars!
